Suarez Transfer Saga**********

Suarez : Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that, if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season, I'd be allowed to go.

I gave absolutely everything last season but it was not enough to give us a top-four finish. Now all I want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement.

I have the club's word and we have the written contract and we are happy to take this to the Premier League for them to decide the case, but I do not want it to come to that," he said.

"I don't feel betrayed but the club promised me something a year ago, just as I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League.

"They gave me their word a year ago and now I want them to honour that. And it is not just something verbal with the coach but something that is written in the contract. I'm not going to another club to hurt Liverpool."

"I'm 26. I need to be playing in the Champions League. I waited one year and no one can say that I did not give everything possible with my team-mates last season to get us there.

"People may accuse me of showing a lack of loyalty but last season we told Liverpool there was interest from a top European club and they told me: 'We've got a new coach and we're going to push for the Champions League'.

"I spoke with (Liverpool boss) Brendan Rodgers several times and he told me: 'Stay another season, and you have my word that, if we don't make it, then I will personally make sure that you can leave'

Liverpool is a club with a reputation for doing things right. I just want them to abide by the promises made last season. Some of my team-mates say to me: 'We cannot understand that, if you have it signed, that you can't leave'."

Prior to Suarez's comments coming out, Rodgers reiterated on Tuesday evening that Liverpool's stance had not changed.

He said: "We've obviously had a couple of bids from one club that has been nowhere near the valuation. I repeat - nowhere near the valuation of what he is worth in this market. There's no change to that.

"We have no intention of selling one of the top players in the world to one of our rivals. The message is very clear: Luis Suarez is very much a Liverpool player.

"There's not even really a discussion point, unless someone comes within anywhere near the valuation of Luis. At this present time, that's not the case."

AC Milian.....News on Emanuelson...... Urby Emanuelson says he would like to primarily be used as a left-back by Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri this season.

The Dutchman can be fielded in a variety of midfield roles, but he has outlined that he does have a preference.

“I feel ready to play in whatever position will most benefit the team and the Coach,” Emanuelson commented from the Diavolo’s American training base.

“It is true that I am a very versatile player, but I have to say that my favoured role is as a left-back.”

The 27-year-old is back at Milan after spending the second half of last season on loan with Premiership side Fulham.

“We won’t be just targeting a top three finish in Serie A this term,” added the January 2011 signing from Ajax.

“We want to end the campaign as champions of Italy.

Klopp: 'We're not competing like-with-like against Bayern.......Dortmund - Going into his sixth season in charge of Borussia Dortmund, Jürgen Klopp's appetite for football, and titles, is undiminished,With the start of 2013/14 Bundesliga campaign fast approaching, the Yellow-Blacks' 46-year-old head coach spoke with bundesliga website about that hunger for success, the lessons learned from the UEFA Champions League final defeat at Wembley, his rejigged squad and their targets in the season ahead.

bundesliga website: Jürgen Klopp, if we could start by looking back for a moment: Later on the very same evening that you lost to FC Bayern Munich at Wembley, CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke announced that Borussia Dortmund would be sending out a team that is "at least as good" this season. Did that shake you up a bit?

Jürgen Klopp: Not at all, why should it? That doesn't mean we have to get straight back into the final of the Champions League again. On evenings like that, you're going to have the odd person in a melancholy frame of mind and there's no harm in cheering them up a bit. I found the statement completely OK. It goes without saying that we set our own standard and part of that is to keep striving to be an even better team and to improve our performance level all-round. On top of that, we already knew then in London where we wanted to take it next and what we had at our disposal for the job. We may not have known exactly which transfers we'd be able to see through, but we did know we'd be able to put a good team together again. We had our plan and, as it stands, we have the feeling it's a plan that could work out pretty well.

bundesliga website: You recently gave Bayern a 100 percent quality rating, for 22 or 23 players in their squad. How many Dortmund players get the same seal of approval?

Klopp: At the moment I'd say 17 or 18. What we have over and above that is a lot of potential. We have a tremendous amount of talent packed into our squad. There are some very gifted players who we have great hopes of and who it's going to be a real pleasure to see developing further. But just to be clear here, we're not competing like-with-like against Bayern. It's not something that's an issue for us. We want to regulate the situation so that we can deal well with the present and pave the way for the future a bit at the same time. That's the plan.

bundesliga website: Jonas Hofmann is one up-and-coming talent who has already made his presence felt in pre-season. In principle, though, you've said that the door's open to anyone this year to potentially come up through the ranks...

Klopp: What that means first off is that everyone here has the chance to train regularly for the whole week at the absolute highest level. And if you can more or less count up to five, it won't take you long to notice that you don't have four other players competing for your position. So straight away, you've got the package of really good training and decent prospects. That leaves you in a very good position to develop and progress. That's what we can offer the young lads.

bundesliga website: On the other hand, Dortmund have dug deep into their pockets to sign up Sokratis, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Is that a policy of precisely-targeted, high-end strengthening of the squad?

Klopp: That's just what it is. We've responded to our situation and the problems that arose last season. We need a full-time replacement for Felipe Santana and one for Lukasz Piszczek for the next six months. Sokratis fits the bill perfectly there. In midfield, we have to cover for the departures of Moritz Leitner, Mario Götze and Leonardo Bittencourt and we've found a high-quality solution there, too - with three new players, when you count Jonas Hofmann alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. "Auba" can fortunately play as an out-and-out forward as well, so that's us covered there, too. We really do think we're well set and ready to keep following our own path. But part of that involves giving our own talented hopefuls a real perspective as well and that's what we aim to do.

bundesliga website: Will the players profit as well from a policy of rotation, with Dortmund involved on three fronts?

Klopp: We're still a team who have to play at our limit in order to maintain a dominant role in the Bundesliga. And to play at your limit, you need a settled side. First we have to ensure that's the case, and then quickly see to it that we can bring other players into the set-up effectively as well. But rotation's not really a top priority at the start of the season, when there's hardly any midweek action. We want to win games, not be top of the rotation league. What you need above all in the early stages of the campaign is stability and that's usually easier to achieve with a team who are playing together regularly. Come the end of it, you want everyone to be looking back and able to say - 'The coach was right, we all had our part to play. And we've got our reward for responding properly in every situation.' That's what I'm aiming for. But over the course of the season I can't make everyone happy every day. One or other will inevitably find himself out of the first team on occasion and probably won't enjoy it much.

bundesliga website: Mkhitaryan is generally viewed as Dortmund's trophy signing of the summer and the obvious replacement for Götze. Nuri Sahin has said he sees the Armenia international as having more in common with Shinji Kagawa, though. How would you describe him?

Klopp: That's not far wide of the mark. A lot of "Micki's" movement is reminiscent of Shinji's. He's incredibly dynamic, a very intelligent reader of the game and a great finisher. A top-class footballer all-round, in short. And to top it all, he's a fantastic bloke as well, a real character - very funny and a bit cheeky. It's great fun with him. Contact with Armenia wouldn't necessarily be part of your regular weekly agenda, and then this guy comes here and you're thinking - if they're all like him, let's get over there and get a fan friendship going. He's a great lad - and so are our other two new faces.

bundesliga website: Talking of Kagawa: he's at Manchester United FC and said recently he could well imagine returning to Dortmund at some stage down the line. When did you last speak to him?

Klopp: We still keep in touch. It's a bit difficult to speak with him directly, largely because his German hasn't dramatically improved while he's been in England. Talking to him on the phone isn't what you'd call a piece of cake. But I'm in regular touch with his interpreter, who's working in Nuremberg these days. And I often have a few words with Shinji's agent, Thomas Kroth, as well. Believe me, I'm always right in the picture about what the lad's up to.

Now, Enzo was supposed to play with the Juvenil A team - the under 19 Real Madrid team - but instead he will play senior football with Real Madrid C.The teenager, however, may find it hard to force his way into Carlo Ancelotti's first-team, even with such a well regarded father.

Florentino Perez's transfer policy has not been helpful for the Castilla players. The last player who came out of La Castilla and settled in the first team was Iker Casillas.
Indeed, it has been very hard for young players to make it into the first team but Real Madrid is under pressure to produce local talent.With the economic crisis still going on in Spain, Real Madrid will not be able to splash the cash every summer.

They have to renew their model and the should follow the examples of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund which proved to be efficient.

With Daniel Carvajal, Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez, they have the quality to make it into the first team but only if the hierarchy leaves them time to develop.

ORHER NEWS.....Michel Bastos admits Lyon return was "impossible"....Michel Bastos has revealed that there was no future for him at Lyon after signing for United Arab Emirates side Al-Ain.

The Brazilian admitted that the financial issues that Lyon have found themselves in mean that a return to the club from loan at Schalke was impossible.

The 30-year-old then decided to move on from the situation at Lyon and sign for the UAE outfit last week after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.

"It was not possible to stay with Lyon. The problem did not come from me. I did not want to leave Lyon," he told RMC. "It was the president who told me he had some difficulties keeping certain players.

"I owe a lot to Lyon. I only left last year because it was Schalke. [President] Jean-Michel Aulas has always told me my return would be impossible for financial reasons. That's why I'm no longer in Lyon.

Atlético Mineiro Bernard denies deal with Shakhtar......Atlético Mineiro's Bernard has insisted that no deal has been struck as of yet with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Brazilian visited the club's facilities on Monday but says there is no guarantee of a deal happening as negotiations continue between the two parties.

Atlético accepted Shakhtar's offer of €25 million and Bernard is reportedly considering a move to the Ukraine.

He told TV Alterosa: "It's just a visit, there won't be any medical. Nothing is certain and I won't sign any documents. I made it clear to them that I would only visit so that I could see their facilities."

Bernard has previously been linked with a move to England, with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal said to be keen, but Shakhtar are the only side to have met his asking price.

Speaking to Radio Itatiaia, Atlético president Alexandre Kalil said: "Tottenham made an offer of €18m for Bernard, but they withdrew.

"Arsenal told us that they would bid, but never did. So what we have now is a €25m bid from Shakhtar.

Football Federation Australia extends global TV deal.....Football Federation Australia (FFA), the country’s governing body of soccer, has extended its major broadcast deal with World Sport Group (WSG) for a further four years.

As such, Singapore-based WSG will continue to sell the broadcast rights worldwide for the Hyundai A-League, Australia’s top-tier club soccer competition, save for in Australia and across Oceania.

WSG, which first partnered with the FFA in 2005, will also continue to sell the broadcast rights to the Australian men’s national team matches.

BT Vision has already agreed a deal with WSG to show at least two matches each week in the UK. Meanwhile, Italy’s Mediaset has agreed to show all matches played by Sydney FC - for whom Italian soccer star Alessandro Del Piero plays - for the entire 2013/14 season.

In partnership with digital rights group Perform, WSG will also stream every Hyundai A-League game online.
