Our mothers have always told us that it is not good to go to bed with wet or damp hair, because we could catch a cold or pneumonia. Was this quite true? The truth is that in fact not, however; Going to sleep immediately after taking a bath and not drying your hair properly, could prove to be a bad decision anyway. Why? That is the answer we want to give you today. Read more @ http://www.xpoloaded.com/2017/03/7-diseases-that-are-caused-by-sleeping.html |

Former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, and aspirant in the of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state’s 2016 Governorship election, Victor Olabintan, has been reportedly kidnapped in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. According to Gboyega Ajayi, Secretary of the Olabintan Campaign Organization, Olabintan was kidnapped on his way to Abuja from Akure, the capital of Ondo. Nigeria is making a fortune from cashew export as annual revenue earned from the commodity now stands at $250 million (about N49.7 billion). cashew The President, National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), Pastor Tola Faseru, who disclosed this at a logistics meeting in Lagos recently said the average export price goes up yearly with increased demand coming from consuming nations. Faseru, who revealed that Vietnam and India remain Nigeria’s largest buyers, further said that globally, stocks of nuts, including cashew, in North America and Europe have been low, while demand has continued to increase. “This offers good prospects for Nigeria’s cashew industry this year,” he said. The industry, according to him, is expected to earn $250 million from the export of 180,000 tonnes of cashew nut. He said global demand for its nut has been forecast to go up, even as he urged exporters to pay more attention to improve product quality and ensure excellent hygiene and unrivalled food safety standards to boost exports. He said the cashew industry has developed in recent years and focused on improving technologies. Faseru said the industry wants to increase cashew cultivation area, nationwide to produce 500,000 tonnes by 2020. The NCAN boss said the association was working with farmers and the government to develop cashew growing areas and give technical support to farmers to help them increase profits. For about two hours, Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West), turned the floor of the Red Chamber into his palace cum shrine, leaving his colleagues perplexed. Our correspondent reports the scenario. From all corners, senators were heard shouting: “Babalawo, Kabiyesi and masquerade,” when Senator Dino Melaye walked into the Upper Chamber, last Wednesday, for the day’s legislative activities. Melaye, who is neither a presiding officer nor a principal officer, came into the chamber together with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and principal officers of the Upper Chamber. Traditionally, the arrival of the Senate President is announced with a shout of “Mr. Senate President,” by the sergeant-at-arms, who is the custodian of the chamber’s symbol of authority, the mace. With the announcement, all persons in the chamber, including senators, cameramen, clerk of the Senate and his team, journalists and legislative aides are expected to remain standing until the Senate president seats. In line with this tradition, all the persons in the chamber, on that interesting day, stood up for the arrival of Saraki. Then, behold, came also the Kogi State senator in an unusual dressing. The party walked into the chamber around 10.50am. Wearing a blue Aso-Oke, with an orange cap knitted with beads, Melaye used white fly-whisks to illuminate his dressing. On his neck, Melaye, who is from Okun speaking part of Kogi State, wore four different beads. His dressing soon became the talk of the chamber as senators, struggling to have presidential handshake with Saraki, were heard chanting Kabiyesi, Babalawo and masquerade. It was at this point that general laughter enveloped the chamber. Melaye’s dressing looked synonymous with that of Yoruba chief or priest of Babalawo shrine. While Saraki was shaking hands with the senators, Melaye used the fly-whisks he held in his right hand to bless the senators by brushing their back with it. It was after the episode that Melaye went to his seat, situated on same row with former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa kwankwaso. From the press gallery, our correspondent saw Kwankwaso ‘staring ‘ at Melaye. Melaye continued with the show until after 20 minutes when he left the chamber. While leaving the chamber, Melaye turned left, right, looked at his front and back, acknowledging that it was, indeed, his day at the Senate, before departing the chamber, leaving behind his fly-whisks on his seat. But 30 minutes later, specifically by 11:30am, Melaye returned to the chamber. It was at this point that Senator Peter Nwaboshi (PDP, Delta North) raised point of order, saying: “Melaye was not properly dressed, he dresses like Babalawo.” Read more from http://emiratenews.com.ng/day-dino-melaye-appears-in-senate-in-unusual-attire/

https://emiratenews.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Chief-Bode-George.jpg No going back on President’s endorsement –Bode George, A South-West leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, has described as divine, President Goodluck Jonathan’s endorsement as the consensus candidate of the party. He, therefore, called on all members of the party to unite and ensure victory for the President in next year’s general election. George said this in Lagos at the grand finale of the South-West PDP Women empowerment programme organised by the Leader, House of Representatives, Mrs. Mulikat Akande-Adeola. Speaking at the event, attended by other PDP leaders in Lagos as well as women leaders in the Sosuth-West, George said it was also legitimate for Jonathan to contest a second term in office as he had done a lot for the people of the South-West in particular and Nigeria in general. He said the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, had predicted that an Ijaw man would one day rule Nigeria. He said, “I want to appeal to my brothers who are opposed to President Jonathan’s endorsement by the party leadership for a second term because it is divine. Let him (Jonathan) also do what is legitimate, it is constitutional.” Read More |

https://emiratenews.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Oritsejafor-Tambuwal-and-Jonathan-360x247.jpg The disunity in the House of Representatives boiled over again on Tuesday when a matter that should ordinarily receive the overwhelming support of all members was sacrificed on the altar of politics. It was the controversial $9.3m Nigerian tax payers’ money that was seized by the authorities in South Africa on September 5, 2014. It is no longer news that on that fateful day (September 5), a Challenger 600 jet from Nigeria landed at the Lanseria International Airport, north-west Johannesburg, allegedly conveying the money in three suit cases. Three persons, including two Nigerians and an Israeli, were in custody of the money when officials in South Africa arrested them and seized the cash. They were later to reveal that the huge cash of about N1.5bn was meant for the procurement of arms for the Nigerian Intelligence Services. Following the international attention and criticism the cash movement generated, the Federal Government later owned up to having knowledge of the transaction. It did not end there. The House of Representatives, particularly members of the opposition All Progressives Congress, wanted the transaction thoroughly investigated. Thus, last Tuesday, the mantle fell on the legislature’s Deputy Minority Leader, Mr. Suleiman Abdulrahman-Kawu, a member of the APC from Kano State, to raise the issue on matters of urgent public importance. The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress says the people of the state will vote against President Goodluck Jonathan in the coming presidential election. The party said in a statement that the imposition of Jonathan on Nigerians by the Peoples Democratic Party confirmed that the party was the problem of Nigeria’s democracy. The statement which was issued by its Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Adesanya, said: “In view of the precarious and unhealthy state of the nation, the good people of Ondo State are eagerly waiting to vote out President Jonathan.” The APC also rejected the recent endorsement of the President by a group known as the Jonathan Actualisation Movement, noting that the group did not have the strength to deliver the state to the PDP. It warned Jonathan to be wary of political sycophants and attention-seeking groups like JAM, stating that the group lacked the power to save him from imminent electoral failure. “The recent wish expressed by the south-west coordinator of the attention-seeking Jonathan Actualisation Movement, Mr. Victor Olabimtan, that ‘majority of votes for President Jonathan, from the South-West zone will come from Ondo State is sycophantic and unrealistic,” the statement said. Gbemi Saraki gave Advice to All Politicians, This is a very important day for me. This is a day I have decided to come out as one of you to summon you on a journey that will redefine the course of our lives. This is not the beginning of the journey; we have already come a long way. At this stage, we have only reached a very significant juncture, where we mus tbegin to redirect our collective movement as indigenes of Kwara State from a path that has only yielded so much for the opportunistic few and deprived most of us of so much. We must begin to find the promises that this lovely state had once held for all of us. I have been around long enough in politics. I was a lawmaker and part of a vibrant House of Representatives, where I represented the good people of Ilorin-West and Asa Local Governments. I was at the Senate on behalf of the great people of the Kwara Central Senatorial District. Continue Reading |
