I have gone through all pages of this thread and some research myself, so kinda have some knowledge of what I need to do from the admission stage to the visa application, but I am not too clear about the sponsors and finance documentation if anyone is knowledgeable/ has first-hand experience would be kind enough to share. so I actually have my own funds from tuition to sustenance, but I lack employment history as my last official job was in the UK (carer, and had my B.A and PGC there as well) since 2015. I have been back to Nigeria since 2016 and have been working from home with amazon mech. Turk (amazon sees us not as staff but as an independent contractor/freelance) so I don't have an employment letter from them, just a transaction history of payments. another option is my dad, who has the needed amount both for my tuition and sustenance but he is now retired.

So my questions...
if I have my funds but no current employment to show and not self-employed, what document would I need? and in general, if someone has his/her own money is it most to include a sponsor and all that.
if I choose to use my dad, now that he is retired what documents would he present?
btw, the age factor, I am 35yrs applying for M.A with LCC... a disadvantage?

honey86: I had the same issue, what I did was to swear an affidavit at the high court stating that I answer to those names.

I had same problem too...my passport carries my firstname while my statement haz my first name ,initials of my other name and my surmame but my result has all name name-first,last and surname buh to make matter worst one letter of my first name on d result was omitted but still I got my visa...buh if u wish u cud add an affidavit..tho I didn't in my case.

@futuredon and naira peeps sorry I didn't get back on time as per d outcome of my visa....... well I'm writing dis from London.lol I got d visa 06 may ....making it exactly 15 working days..., I traveled same night cos my dead line was may 7th . Twas God... I had 3 names on my certificate nd just 2 on my passport ...to make things worse the name on my certificate was mis spelled one alphabet was omitted nd dat was d name on my passport same......even my bank acc statement has just my name and surname but all other docs aside my passport has my 3 names.... that was d big fear.,., but it all came out well.......now studying @university of Sunderland London campus.....great sch... loving every moment....but the cold here even in spring dey freeze me....I wonder how I wud cope during winter. FutureDon: As I have earlier stated, the status won't change until your passport is ready for collection. I asked you to track again because SMS can be unreliable at times (e.g I didnt receive any SMS during my time).

Let's hope that things would change today. However, I'm sure there won't be any problem if you exceed the deadline by few days.

Yes, you can call VFS but remember that they are not the ones issuing visa. But it's better than traveling to Abuja. All the best brother!

@futuredon...called and they were just burnining my airtime with jazz music and nobody picking up..so I sent mails repeatedly to vfs and decided to even call bhc lucily I got a response and was told they have issued my visa since thursday and it was like an hour later vfs sent me a mail dat it is ready.... Diz would be the longest and most dreaded weekend of my life...hope I get the visa would travel monday night. No time.

FutureDon: Track again and let's know the latest. They won't attend to you at BHC Abuja. Just keep hoping that it won't exceed 15working days. However, there is bank holiday here on Monday.

@futuredon thanks... But their tracking site don't work my status had remain same since the day I submitted.damn so no one would listen @bhc...how about me calling vfs? Mayb dat holiday could be a grace but that means I need to get my sms today to be sure I can meet the deadline. And would bhc still give one the visa if its more than the last resumption date?so I could beg the sch wen I get the visa?

Please house I need your advise on this one....tommorow would make it my 15th working days I applied for my student visa and my last resumption is may 6th on monday...would it be advisable to travel to abuja tommorow and go to BHC to explain to them my situation cos I was told it cud even take up to 20days...what would ya'all advise I do?

sup curioz hope u got ur visa.... ? Nd plz want to know from wat source did u get the *collection message* was it sent as an sms via d fone number u used on ur application? Or your E-mail ?or online via vfs application tracking website?

Stution: How do i put my signature on d online application form?

write yours full name on it. @least that was wat I was told when I filled mine online. Don't know though if there are other ways to stick signature in it.

curioz: Lala001 friday was d 13th working day for me I submitted on the 10th so by next week u should get a reply. May 6th is my last resumption date too.

@curioz good for you oo...I know it would be tatooted.lol when did you apply? I applied on the 12th diz months ,datz 11 working dayz now still waiting for reply and my last. Resumption date is may 6th...just hope I get my own sms diz new week sha...goodluck to you... Let us know howfar oo.lol

I understand you are getting really anxious, it's understandable. Aside your current status, the only time your status is going to change is when your passport is ready for collection (based on personal experience).

Just be calm bro, you have nothing to worry about. You would buy me beer when your visa comes out

Sup fellow nairalanders.... I have applied for my teir 4 visa since 12th april ..so today makes it 8 working dayz but ever since I have been tracking to know my current status I still see the same sms they sent me the first day that "Your visa application has been forwarded to the British High Commission
 plz does that mean that they've not even started processing my application, cos someone said that status is surposed to change 3 times. Very worried nd in a tight corner cos my sch uni sunderland london campus have already resume on monday 22 april although they told me d cas they sent to ukba states I had to be in the sch May 6th..just hope I beat dat day. By the way I did all required. Had my cas,28dayz personal statement (2.5M) paid full tuition nd document on the cas and photocopies alondside the online application form and appendix... So I feel I'm ok in that area except they've seen sometin I didn't know about.

Hi felow nairalanders....I made my application yesterday at the vfs in abuja and like has been posted here b4,the appliication is now being done online but the appendix 8 form is still stands. so basically d filled online print out and d appendix 8 form/necessary docs. But have some quesion bordering me if any cud enlighten me. 1.my school resumes 22 april and like I said I applied 12 april. But the school had given me till may 3rd to resume but did not state it on the cas...dey claim ukba knows already, wud dat be a problem and I had also stated I would love to come to the uk 28th april and made one silly mistake by saying that the sch gave me till may 6th to resume instead of may 3rd..*excaped my mind*...would dat amout to false info and possibly banned? And can I make it wif diz short time frame? 2. I did a professional course with a professional body :customer relationship management institute but its not a degree awarding body,just sumtin like NIIT and dat was wat was stated on my CAS to submit...would ukba claim its not a recongnize degree institution and refuse me? Lastly I did not submit my cas along wif my docs altho I wrote my cas number and all the info derived from the cas in my form but just did not submit the hardcopy along side...would that be a problem? Here was all the docs I submitted. My online print out form, appendix 8 form, 2passport picture, valid passport,bank statement in my name wif 2.5M held for 28dayz,my professional post graduate cert/photocopy from the institute I talked about above,birth certificate/photocopy. English not needed assessed by the school,and I did not include my cas letter like I said but all necessary info on it was well filled in the appendix 8 form.

Goodmorning...I am new on nairaland but have been following the thru all this while,nice job u guyz put here.though have some few quesions :I deposited my maintanance money in my account march 15th, can I collected my statement april 11th and apply same day. Doing that because my school resumes april 22 but say they would give me extension for 2weeks which is May 6th. Do you think that space of time could be enough to get my visa considering april is not a peak period for student visa application,can I fast track my application process even if I have to pay more?
And please see below document I would b presenting:
application form,
CAS,
statement of account,
Int.passport,
Passport photo,
documents on CAS,
photocopies.

Then do the bank have to write a back up letter to attach to my personal bank statement for 28dayz?
And lastly I used my HND(nigeria) to apply for a top-up...most schools I applied to did not accept it that according to NARIC it could only allow me start first year, buh the university that gave me a TOP- UP admission used my HND, would that affect my application since naric states its only a foundation to a degree course?
