A presidential proclamation isn’t a proposal though. It doesn’t say proclamations have to go through Congress or Supreme Court approval. I’m confused.

Don't reschedule your appointment ! Rescheduling to December 2025 does not make sense until you receive an official message from the embassy.

Dont allow the ongoing hullabaloo to forced you into making the decision you will regret later.

If at all this proposal succeeds, visas will still be issued and appointment will continue to hold. It is called " Temporary Restrictions" Not " Total Visa Ban".

Wait for the U.S embassy (through AVITS amentum) to send you updated message. If you did not receive any such message pls go ahead with your January interview.

I agree with the other commenters. Just clarify the difference in disciplines for the consular officer. Keep us updated. Good luck!

Pls is there a WhatsApp group for F1 visa?
Timshin:
So sorry about this sis. I think one of the problems here is too much information. Additionally, please work on your funding because they will ask you what has changed in your application since the last denial. Talk to your school about assistantships, or on campus jobs. Finally, when the Vo asked if you had someone in the US, *No, I don't* should have been your answer. If you already signified NO in your Ds 160, why changing your answer again. There shouldn't be any but...the details were information you could have quietly left out since you are sure that your cousin is back here. I think he had an issue with you there. Remember, just one hesitation could certify your entire answers as false. Probably that was why he gave you that blue paper. It’s not the end of the world sis, just be more prepared next time. Well done!

@Efetobore1980

The person isn’t my family member though. They’re a friend of the family. How do I clarify this without claiming false relationships? The DS 160 asked about relatives and I clicked no as I do not have any relatives. Only friends but it doesn’t ask about friends.

Is there any good reason to give the consular officer if they ask why I have a US Room and Board sponsor?

■ Also, I’m doing it to reduce the burden on my sponsor. It will save my sister about $14k per the I-20.

Yes, fill another DS-160 and indicate the sponsor as reflected in your Form-I20. After that, remember to update your DS-160 and print a new visa appointment letter. Your new DS-160 confirmation number must reflect in your new printed visa appointment letter.

YOU
Is indicating that you will live with a family friend during your Masters program a red flag? The family friend lives 30 mins away from the school and signed an affidavit.

Well, it depends on your circumstances. Naturally international students who want to be serious with studies and who want to give the consular and the host-school the rest of mind of their (the student) personal securities are expected to live on campus or off- campus Accomodation provided by the school.

Nevertheless, if you have indicated an american resident sibling or family in your DS-160 as well as created the awareness to the school, yes you can opt for off-campus Accomodation with such acquaintance/relative.

Please @Efetobore1980, can you help me with this question?
My F1 visa interview is on Nov 18, Lagos location. In my DS 160 I indicated self as person paying for the trip because I interpreted it as the flight. Should I make a new DS160 changing this to my sponsor who is my older sister?
