I think Salary can not just be one for all scale. It depends on value the worker is bringing or specialist he/she is. And also environment he want to work or how wealthy and kind is employer. Teacher in some school are being paid #50k while another Teacher is collecting #500k for same job role.

Back to maid issue, live in maid get free food, accommodation, no transport access to many amenities their boss possessed. Their salary is just for savings and for personal care. I think they can collect lesser salary compared to what they actual deserve.
