InvestmentRe: The True Cost Of Your Loan At That Given Interest Rate by LasBonBoi(op): 10:46pm On Aug 08, 2018
From table above you can see how much of your monthly payment actually goes to reduce your debt. Payment number 1 (first month) for example, you pay 193,256 but only 26,589 goes towards your debt. The balance of 166,667 goes away to your lender as interest. That’s about 86.2% of your payment. While the percentage of your payment that goes away to interest reduced as you make more payments, in this example, it takes the 79th month (6 years 7 months) payment before your monthly payment will be 50% towards your debt and 50% away to interest. See image below.
Did you notice that at the 6 years 7 months (79th payment) example above, you would still be owing 5.7M?

I hope the details behind loan servicing is clearer with this example and that it helps someone in decision making. If it helps just one person, am happy!

Should you make extra payments to reduce interest paid? That’s another question for another day.

Now this is where it gets interest-ing. Most businesses (start-ups) do have negative cash flow for first 2 years of operation. The monthly payment for the loan in our example is only N193,256. At the end of 2 years (24 months) the business would have paid over 4.6M towards the loan. That’s almost half the principal borrowed. But the business would still be owing over 9.2M and that’s because only about 800k of the 4.6M paid is applied towards the reduction of the principal borrowed. See the row highlighted in yellow from screenshot below.

InvestmentThe True Cost Of Your Loan At That Given Interest Rate by LasBonBoi(op):
Cost of loan can be very confusing, I will try to make it less confusing. I have talked to a bunch of business owners and more than half of them end up more confused… that reminds me that am not exactly the best at tutoring.

I will use a simple example of a 10 million naira loan at 20% over ten years. Well, if we take a 10M loan at 20% then we would only have to deal with interest of 2M. Wrong. Unfortunately, that was the mind set of business owners that were confused about cost of borrowing.

Screenshot below is part of a spreadsheet I use in finance planning. 10 million naira loan at 20%, ten years to pay off means you would be paying over 13 million in interests only.

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by LasBonBoi: 10:33pm On Oct 27, 2016
When I was planning my Canadian Study about 7 years ago, I always wondered if I would ever get enough information to make a decision or to know what to expect from Canada visa requirements. My major unanswered questions were surrounding the part where I would have to deal with the visa processing.
I appreciate Nairaland's "Travelling to Canada" topic for giving me information enough to know what to expect about visa processing delays, people sharing reasons why they were denied, people sharing individual visa case-specific timeline and many more information of value.
Unfortunately this advantage, in my opinion, is seeping away as this very helpful Nairaland topic grows bigger;
1. Visa hopefuls are like a community, they love to hear from each-other and keep updated but searching through posts for update is somewhat tedious
2. Keeping everyone within this community is challenging. To remember the names and follow up with the update posts is not an easy task.
3. Huge bank of visa application outcomes and timelines leading to the outcome is almost impossible to track
4. The "Travelling to Canada" topic is now so big. Getting the right information may not be fast; a question important to you may be quickly buried in the topic pages
5. There is no single point of reference. Questions are answered mostly based out of individual's experience and understanding.

The values listed above are very vital, I hate to see vital values murdered. I have a solution and I honestly hope it would help the people that values it.

I came up with a form for applicants to fill in their application timeline and status updates. Users can update application information anytime. All inputs go in to a spreadsheet available online and accessible to all. Summary of inputs are available to users. Now anyone can keep ahead of what's happening and the history is not lost.

I would appreciate if the moderator of this topic can promote the use of this form.
Sometimes, solutions are just so simple.

Dnt knw whether d op is being truthful but from my findings the lady in question is his sister and her name is oluwatoyin falayi on facebook, she is a teacher. The op jst got married last month and his name is oladele olawale ayeni though one or two things correlate but im still skeptical, you guys can investigate forward but I dnt think it is a scam but d op and his wife look like they can raise that amount conveniently undecided undecided
Thanks fosterkid for making use of available resources to find out minimum correlation between this story and the OP. I did the same too and I am inclined to the story being real. I have seen the OP and her sister on facebook with history of updates (tells me account is not set up so quickly). OP in one of his posts said he is a Jehovah witness and I also saw his wedding invite was of a Jehovah witness venue. Her sister's picture is the patient. He sister is a teacher and Ekiti is the town on OP's facebook.

The waves are clearer, let the people going for physical check do the concluding part and kingolaola will see my alert for sure.

If you find it possible and your kind heart says you can do something to help, please join me in the task of saving a soul.

Am sorry fosterkid for secretly thinking you are the banned CHESTER48, I thought so because you registered your account just about 30mins after he was banned and you kept watching the topic. Even if you were, you are a better person.

Kowema and People in doubt should please join Dominique on her next visit so as to clear the waves. We are willing to give but these few people behind there moniker are hindering us from concluding on donating.
Its a good thing to give (for God's sake) but not good to be scammed
