Hi guys good morning for like 2days I didn't drive so I booked like a regular passenger my experience with Uber was better but on indrive now I see why a lot of passengers complained total ride booked was 8, 6 from indrive and 1 from Uber and just a single person as AC from the indrive the remaining 5 no get ac the only one Uber man I used as AC clean car all good didn't request for tip or complain about road or distance pick up and dropped off smoothly, the 6 indrive and they pick up prices a very good rate still ones they get to me they start acting up like pick is far, one did a crazy thing to me when he got to pick up I explained to him I won't follow you because it can't contain us but I will find my way with bike to drop off but he should follow the map because people in his car doesn't know the location, before he started going he didn't start trip he claims he knows the place but I need to track him or the map he claims no network so many excuses he stressed me I still gave him extra money I just dey look am he looked dirty like a pig, now this negotiation on indrive pays drivers but so many drivers on indrive a just irresponsible I swear all of them her greedy after we get to location them complain still beg for money it is annoying plus bad cars plus if you guys are doing this just stop it irritating dirty jean and top omo una dey spoil job claiming economy bad

Na speed you dey look for or money if you will be going for 2.4L engine just make sure your car is 2010 upward so you go dey enjoy comfort plans rather than economy plans, never the less 1.5L is better but if your engine and car is good condition it won't consume fuel because some cars engine size na 1.5L but them dey chop fuel pass 2.5l the secret is the condition of you car determines with it will consume

Hello pilots, trust our day went well.
So I'm the lady who came on here last year September 2025 and mentioned that I was looking to buy 2 Nigerian used cars with a budget of 6 million. I got so many advice, yabs etc lol..

I actually got offers for some naija used cars but upon testing them with the help of a professional, turned out they had major issues so I didn't get any of them. I however decided to buy brand new kekes and gave them out on hire purchase, however, here's what I did differently.

Firstly I went to Keke parks,some even very far from where I stay and made enquiries on how hire purchase works from riders. They thought I was a potential rider on the lookout for who'd be willing to give me Keke on hire purchase. This made them relax and they gave me all the info I needed. Cost of current hire purchase value for keke, weekly remittance amount etc.
Next I located the chairman of the park and told them my intention of buying keke and the need for riders in the park, now there was a clause, I'd be involving my lawyer and there'd be an agreement. Most of the chairmen agreed, however the value for the duration of the hire purchase didn't tally with the information I had gotten from riders themselves, the chairman were offering something lower but made it seem like that was the standard. I immediately disengaged those ones. Some asked me what amount I had in mind, and how I want my weekly remittance to be like, I told them , but upon hearing a lawyer will be involved, they started dragging feet and delaying providing riders in their park, I also immediately disengaged.

I got another park whose chairman agreed with my payment terms and also an agreement at a lawyer's.

Note that in the course of looking for parks, approaching park chairman, I had gotten the two kekes from the company and installed trackers right there in the company before even driving it out. I engaged a car tracking company for this service.

So with my kekes ready and having gotten a park chairman who had riders on ground, I dragged all of them to the lawyer's chambers, 7 people in total. park chairman, 2 riders, each rider provided two guarantors each. At the lawyer's, everyone provided their NIN, passport photographs and signed the already prepared agreement documents. Addresses were verified. Lawyer gave warning and orientation on why there should be no stories regarding payment. Default for 2 weeks consecutively, then say goodbye to the keke, even if you have one week payment left, your money otilo. (My lawyer no be charge and bail ooo, very solid man 😁). Handover day was scheduled. On handover day, each rider stood beside the keke and we took pictures.

Long and short, it's been 5 months of bliss (Oct 2025 to March 2026) . Payment is supposed to be 10a.m on the scheduled day of the week as per agreement, but 6a.m, chairman don credit me 😁. I monitor their activities from time to time on my phone via the tracker's app.

I waited this long to see the pattern before coming to give this update. Thank you everyone who gave advice at the time, even the guy who yabbed me and told me to put my money in fixed deposit, I'm grateful. @glithronix @omoapena @eyo and few others I can't remember their names, I'm grateful. (Please pardon my long epistle).

Transportation business is big and huge look at the local NURTW which is full of local mindset people they making a lot of money from the chairman to agbero on the road to danfo drivers and conductor. Do you have any friends that drive danfo and see him chilling with is side girlfriend after successful day cashout have you met any agbero chilling in a local bar after a successful day cashout, Guys the money we ought to make extra na Uber, bolt and indrive dey make am they do ads use celebrities one time indrive use a whole DON JAZZY and some other celebrities, they wrap a Rolls Royce which money are they using is it not our commission, the tax indrive are paying is it not our money. If we don't drive they will lose them driver will keep there cars safe and do something else. If person buy sienna stop at ikorodu garage carry passengers from ikorodu to ojota from ojota to yaba pay agbero owo load do that just 3 times in a day morning rush hour and evening closing hour to and fro do you know how much someone will make in a very few hours drive then park your car at home rather going into a street with bad road waiting to pick a percentage from point a to b. As any e hailing apps make us happy the only thing they do it set daily targets once we achieve that to earn more but all is a trap just for them to still make more money and satisfy dere users, is very easy to open and e hailing app with no proper verification but as a driver you have to provide so many documents. They done care about driver safety, Life style insurance no nothing. They is nothing bad in this present economy ehailing should partner with fuel stations give us 10000naira free petrol voucher this days to encourage drivers but they can pay big celebrities to advertise for them

Around 6years ago fuel was 200naira fuel is now 1400naira tell are we not oil producing country again, they removed subsidy the money they made by removing subsidy where did it go to is it coastal road, is electricity, now government are investing in solar is it cheap? Use cng use cng when they first introduced cng how much was it per kg few people installed they increase the price so don't you think if more people install it and they stay building more cng stations around tell me won't the price go up.... Nigerian government makes things difficult and gives options as trap to make more revenue na them get Cng, na them dey run solar also. Dangote claims we now have refinery big capacity for that matter tell me when he started dangote fuel was different from nnpc tell me which fuel are we now buying now who borrowed dangote money, then some filling station fuel wey cheaper than others but presently every price are the same strategy. We don't just have sense in Nigeria that is. We strike last week riders drive down to ikeja governor office for alausa Wetin concern Governor 😂, solution is not buy cng or petrol how about car part one of our drivers had accidents he as to call other drivers friends to support him to fix the car some people will say don't you have comprehensive insurance insurance company are low key scammers your third is it useful we only need a body if that guy verydarkman speaks on ehailing business in Nigeria immediately you will see changes that guy started as a nobody now he is a somebody solution might takes time but we will get dere somebody please we have solutions in our hands we have ideas platform are you guys ready just say YES
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Latonal1: 4:39pm On Mar 25
Guys if you know you can't do cng get a 1.5L engine type of car, CNG cylinders occupy significant trunk space, making them unsuitable for families or transporting large items,Converted vehicles often experience reduced engine power and sluggish acceleration, particularly when driving uphill or carrying heavy loads, my own is nobody prays to do e hailing or public transportation for long if I board korope bus if it as cng most drivers complain and even passenger does not have enough space to sit conveniently. You can never see a private car owner thinking to convert is car to cng because you need to work on rewiring and program one or two in his/her vehicle. So please we should try to use car below 2.0L engine if it is Manuel is affordable you spend around 7m to buy shipping and clear a good without working on the body with low mileage
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Latonal1: 10:16pm On Mar 24
Yes you are right if we at nairaland can dialogue to not work for like a week, the few riders on the road can serve users then it affects bolt indrive and others they will strategies and riders will end up having amazing offers and benefits from them
Pearl1910:
There are more drivers that don't belong to any group than all the drivers on nairaland and all d WhatsApp groups combined. So even if all d drivers in groups and niaraland comply to strike, there will still be driver on d road that arent aware.
The solution is for the few that can be ralied together to take this grievances to the app companies. Definitely not everybody can fight but let there be a fight even if it's from a few
Your offline trips can't come everyday
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Latonal1: 4:55pm On Mar 24
Cng is good and it is not free, if every car user start using Cng the price of cng will go up equivalent to petrol solution to this problem is bolt and Uber with Indrive to reduce dere commission and slightly in increase dere ride prices secondly the should be an option for AC if the client want AC they have to pay more ac is per of comfort ride outside the country they are options for AC tokunbo car begins from 8 million while a good Nigeria use car is from 4 million do you think is easy to raise 4 million in this present country, let create awareness and campaign my going on Twitter and Instagram to blast all this app at least people will understand what rider go through rather condemning riders I pay so so amount won't you on AC and people that does this thing are very brokr
tojahh:
The merits of CNG on this jobs can never be downplayed. I use a CNG installed Honda Accord 05, 2.4L and it's been 13 months and I can tell you for free (not free) that it's the best thing for me after drinking water.

I can't even remember when last I lament about price or what have you. Again, if you think protest will do the magic with these apps company I will tell you from experience protest has never helped drivers in this hustle. Since 2023 drivers has been calling for these protest but nothing to really show. I think the way forward is to take the agitations to these companies,. Ensure they don't operate while you protest, not the shambolic display of going to Alausa to dance and gyrate.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Latonal1: 3:13pm On Mar 24
The story long but it as key points in it, all I will just say to this e hailing drivers as over 70% graduate in the platform we are well educated let us use our knowledge to counter this bolt and Uber if we don't work for like a week at least they will be fewer vehicles on the road it will affect the company when dey book rides and no car is coming we should stop acting hungry Uber take 25% fee for what exactly to pay staff or what is better Uber should get cars for riders buy fuel do car maintenance and pay the driver 25% of total trip is that not better let fight on the percentage also they needs us more than we need them we have options.

I will just advice use we should try to make cars in good condition and shape to have returning clients for offline job and good pay if like to client book me within a day at least I will safe my car from over work fuel and I make more profit in that, like yesterday a returning clients book me in the morning from ikorodu to ogba round trip and waited for an hour at the location in ogba then we got back to ikorodu around 1pm I charge 45k another client book from ikorodu to lekki 2hrs waiting time in lekki I charged 50k I made enough profit so I have to park my car today and tomorrow but if I see old clients offline trips I will go
OAKSFIVEFARMS:
Good afternoon everyone,

First, let me apologize — this is a long post, and maybe the English is a bit much in some parts. Please bear with me, I’m just trying to explain this as clearly as possible.

Most of you here don’t know me, and that’s fine. I’m also a driver on the platform like many of you. But beyond that, I’ve actually worked at Glovo, which operates in a very similar way to Bolt and Uber. So I’ve seen this from both sides — how these companies think internally, and what we experience daily on the road.

That’s exactly why I feel we need to approach this differently.

Also, to be transparent — I personally know some of the decision-makers at Bolt in Nigeria, and I can also get the right escalation contacts across Africa/SSA and even globally. So if we do this properly, it won’t just end as noise — it will actually get in front of the right people.

---

## Let’s talk about the real issue — the economics

As of today, petrol is about ₦1,340 per litre.

On average, 1 litre of fuel generates roughly ₦2,400 – ₦2,600 in trip value.

Bolt takes around 25% commission.

So:

* ₦2,500 trip value
* Less ~₦625 commission
* Leaves ~₦1,875

From that ₦1,875:

* Remove ₦1,340 fuel cost

You’re left with roughly **₦535 per litre**

---

## Now let’s break that ₦535 down properly

Even with conservative estimates:

* **Maintenance (daily allocation)** → ₦150 – ₦200
* **Depreciation** → ₦150 – ₦250
* **Tyres, servicing, major repairs** → ₦100 – ₦150
* **Risk (accidents, theft, safety exposure)** → ₦50 – ₦100

### Total cost:

≈ ₦450 – ₦700

---

## Final reality:

You are left with ≈ ₦535

* **Best case:** you make ₦50–₦100
* **Worst case:** you are running at a loss

And this is before your personal income.

So let’s be clear:

**This is not sustainable.**

---

## It’s not just a driver problem — Bolt also loses

I just got back from Abuja yesterday.

What I saw there is already showing the future:

* Many drivers don’t accept trips anymore
* Price negotiation is happening outside the app
* Some drivers have parked their cars completely

What does that mean?

* Longer wait times for passengers
* More cancellations
* Poorer experience overall

As drivers, we are partners in delivering this service. We also want passengers to enjoy a reliable experience.

But right now, pricing is **pitting drivers against passengers**, while Bolt still earns its 25% regardless.

That model will eventually break the system if nothing changes.

---

## There is also a fairness issue

**Parties that carry no direct operational risk should not be earning more than those who:**

* Provide the cars
* Handle maintenance
* Face accidents and safety risks
* And in some cases, lose their lives

At the same time, we also have to be honest about something:

**The system is beginning to rely on the fact that drivers are under pressure to survive.**

Because people need to feed, many will keep driving even when the numbers don’t make sense. And over time, that allows an unsustainable model to continue longer than it should.

But eventually, it catches up — through poorer service, fewer drivers, and a broken experience for everyone.

---

## This is why we need a different approach

This is not about protesting.
This is not about downing tools.

It’s about presenting a clear, structured business case.

---

## What we are pushing for:

### 1. Dynamic Pricing (Primary Ask)

A pricing model that adjusts with fuel costs **and the full operating environment**.

When fuel increases, everything increases:

* Spare parts
* Labour
* Tyres
* Maintenance

Pricing must reflect **real operating costs**, not just fuel alone.

---

### 2. Structured Driver Protection (Insurance & Maintenance)

We need something better than the current weak system of referrals to vague third parties.

We should explore:

* A structured driver fund (like ajo)
* Contributions from both drivers and Bolt
* Coverage for accidents, theft, and major repairs

This should be built into the platform — a real partnership model.

---

### 3. Guaranteed Monthly Performance Incentives

Every driver should have access to a **guaranteed baseline monthly bonus tied to performance**:

* Meet clearly defined targets → earn the bonus
* Miss targets → bonus is removed for that period

This creates:

* Stability for drivers
* Better service consistency
* Stronger platform performance

---

## What we are doing next

We are aiming to gather **at least 1,000 driver signatures** for a structured petition.

Since Nairaland doesn’t allow links, I will be creating a simple Excel sheet where drivers can input:

* Fuel cost
* Total trip value
* Commission
* Net outcome

Access will be shared via QR code.

From there:

* We compile real data
* Build a structured document
* Send it directly to leadership at Bolt and relevant stakeholders globally

Not as noise.
Not as threats.
But as a clear, data-backed case.

---

If you’re interested, share your thoughts and be ready to contribute your numbers when the QR code is shared.

Let’s approach this differently this time — with structure, clarity, and numbers.

Thank you for reading.
