Motivational Friday!

يَا بَنِي آدَمَ خُذُوا زِينَتَكُمْ عِندَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَلَا تُسْرِفُوا إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

O Children of Adam! Take your adornment (by wearing your clean clothes), while praying and going round (the Tawaf of) the Ka'bah, and eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allah) likes not Al-Musrifun (those who waste by extravagance).
Qur'an chapter 7, Verse 31

*Ratinale behind its Revelation*
According to Ibn Kathir, a famous exegete, the rationale behind the revelation of this verse was mainly to curb the indecent prevailing act among the disbelievers before the advent of Islam whereby both well grown male and female went out nakedly to circumambulate the Ka'bah. The men perpetrate this babaric act in the broad daylight while the women hide under the dark weather.

*Psychological teachings*
It is inferable from the above verse of the Qur'an that one should adorn one's self with chaste ornaments when going for Solat (one of the canonical acts of worship; Prayer) especially the Annual and weekly 'Eid (Festival). The Prophet (peace be upon him) also in his elucidation and implementation of the divine injunctions embedded in the aforementioned verse was reported to have elucidate "Zīna" to include the use of nice fragrance, cutting the finger nails, shaving the private part among other cleaning measures.

عن أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ :الْغُسْلُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ، وَأَنْ يَسْتَنَّ وَأَنْ يَمَسَّ طِيبًا إِنْ وَجَدَ ‏"

‏‏‏ قَالَ عَمْرٌو أَمَّا الْغُسْلُ فَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُ وَاجِبٌ، وَأَمَّا الاِسْتِنَانُ وَالطِّيبُ فَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَوَاجِبٌ هُوَ أَمْ لاَ، وَلَكِنْ هَكَذَا فِي الْحَدِيثِ‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ هُوَ أَخُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ وَلَمْ يُسَمَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ هَذَا‏‏ رَوَاهُ عَنْهُ بُكَيْرُ بْنُ الأَشَجِّ وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِلاَلٍ وَعِدَّةٌ‏‏ وَكَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ يُكْنَى بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ‏‏
Narrated Abu Sa`id:
I testify that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available." `Amr (a sub-narrator) said, "I confirm that the taking of a bath is compulsory, but as for the Siwak and the using of perfume, Allah knows better whether it is obligatory or not, but according to the Hadith it is as above."
Sahih al-Bukhari 880

*Best colour of adornment*
The best adornment to be wore -especially on 'Eid days and Fridays- is the one with colour white, this is in tandem whit the prophetic tradition that goes thus:

عن سمرة بن جندب قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : " عليكم بالثياب البياض فالبسوها; فإنها أطهر وأطيب ، وكفنوا فيها موتاكم " 
Meaning;
Hold firmly with white cloth, and embellish yourselves with it, because it is the best and purest (clothing). And shroud your dead ones in it.

May Allah spare our life on goodness and take our souls after we have served Him well on His path. Aaamin
