You have to use the correct term of Intersex and understand what it stands for, which is the situation where individual possess both male and female genes and characteristics, and not outright male or female but intersex. I.e inter(in-between) , sex(sex).

So back to your question males with xx chromosomes are intersex.
They will have male characteristics but will lack male characteristics in some form e.g production of viable sperms amongst other defects, they may appear feminine e.t.c.

Also female with XY chromosome are intersex, apart from the female characteristics, they also share male characteristics ranging from muscle, hairy body , voice ,strength and Instruments e.t.c as the case may be.

So in this case such individual is neither outrightly male nor female but share characteristics from both sexes.

So to summarize intersex individuals are not your typical or normal male or female they come with characteristics from both sexes.

It doesn't have to be an outright male, the intersex status is dangerous enough and has formed the basis for disqualification or at least Legislation(law amendment) in the past, due to its' undue advantage.
