Politics / Re: Fashola Vows To Deal With Owner Of Stored Fire Crackers by lawalso: 9:55am On Dec 27, 2012 |
deltaforce7: Governor Fashola should look at issues objectively. What if the owner of the property was not aware such inflammable substance was stored in there by the tenants? Don't forget it was a store house used for business purposes. If u know that house owners on the Island collect as much as 2x or 3x or even 5x for stores/warehouse/shops instead of renting as rooms for residential purposes, u will know dat the owners are not only aware but greedy. Some of these buildings originally meant for residential purposes are now shops/store/warehouse. I stayed on the Island for more than 10yrs. In the evening when business is over, these traders engage human carriers to move their heavy loads and u will be surprised by the way they stuffed these buildings with heavy goods. What even shocked me the most is the way these buildings vibrate when the carriers dump the heavy goods in the store/warehouse Residents of Lagos Island are aware of this and this is one of the causes of high costs of rent on the island, the second being the small area that Lagos Island occupies. Another issue on the Island is that houses are too close to each other. Where I stayed on the Island then, 3 separate building share ceiling. My concern: If a building plan is for residential purpose and there is need to convert for commercial purposes, shouldn't there be something to be done before converting? The LASG need to look into this, what is the role of the KAI and CBD? Is it only to disturb, torment collect money from them from hawkers and small traders? 1 Like |

Business / Re: CBN To Go Tough On CIBN Membership by lawalso: 9:54am On Nov 10, 2011 |
Muttex: ukhun: The guy is not confused, the fact that you work in a bank does not make u a banker but rather a "bank worker". A banker is anbody that is qualified to be a banker as recognised by the CIBN, as it is done by all professional bodies. No matter how long an engineer work in a law firm he cannot become a lawyer except he get the necessary qualification, even if he know law more than a lawyer. The same goes for an economist, he cannot be called a doctor even if he know the job through long years of working in the hospital, except he gets the necessary qualification. That of the banker should not be an exception. There is work for everybody in a bank, but they should stop the misuse of the title BANKER. If you must work in a bank, get the necessary qualification. |

Politics / Re: Row Over CBN Clause In Banking Rule - Sanusi Requiring "Sharia-Compliance"!!! by lawalso: 2:27pm On May 23, 2011 |
Don't also forget that BAD credit judgment led Nigerian banks to this present situation. If we are practising interest free banking, knowing fully well that they will share in the loss, would the banks have granted those margin facilities/loan to their cronies. |
Politics / Re: Row Over CBN Clause In Banking Rule - Sanusi Requiring "Sharia-Compliance"!!! by lawalso: 2:20pm On May 23, 2011 |
manny4life: Well it may interest you to note that Interest Free Banking does not mean you will not make profit doing banking business in Nigeria. It means that Profit and Loss will be shared between the Bank(Lender) and the Borrower, which is quite different from conventional Banks that will collect their interest whether you make profit or not. Islamic banking is simply PARTICIPATORY in nature i.e both the lender and borrower must be involved. Islam believes that money should not be priced. |
Politics / Re: Row Over CBN Clause In Banking Rule - Sanusi Requiring "Sharia-Compliance"!!! by lawalso: 1:23pm On May 23, 2011 |
The concept of Non-Interest banking is a concept from Islamic Banking/Finance. The concept is based on principles entrenched in the Islamic law, Sharia. If the concept is diluted, as some people has proposed it will be messed up in this country called Nigeria as we have seen in the past, hence the need to comply with the Sharia Law. Experience from other countries showed that it is a successful Banking Model and that is why it is being accepted the world over. The concept may have come through Religion, but that is not to say it cannot be adopted in a secular state. If there is any grey area it should be addressed. With that I believe we can move forward. We should look at the message and not the messenger. |

info available suggest that NDIC has started giving out letters as at 14/07/2010 which is expected to be fully dispatched by 16/07/2010 since resumption date is 16/08/2010 (one month gap) and a source told me this morning that he was in NDIC H/Q and he was told that by Monday 19/07/2010,if you have not gotten your letter then you should forget about it, though don't let us rule out the possibility of delay in the arrival of some the letters. I've also been expecting my letter but up till now it has not arrived |

i really get amazed when i see some post saying that people should call to get information. if the promoters of this forum and others too did not give information, how do they get on this forum in the first instance. Good product sells itself. If you have a genuine business let the whole world know and you will be amazed what money you can make from it and people will attribute their success to you |
