If you earn a salary in Nigeria and you're always wondering where your money goes before the month ends, I built a free tool specifically for this. It's called Naira Budget Calculator — a free, browser-based salary budgeting tool built for Nigerian income earners. No sign-up, no app download required, and all calculations happen on your device. Nothing is sent to any server. What it does: You enter your monthly take-home pay and it instantly splits it across 7 budget categories — savings, rent, food, transport, bills, emergency fund, and flex spending. You can adjust the sliders to match your actual situation whether you're in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, or anywhere else in Nigeria. It also comes with: The standard 50/30/20 budget rule and a Nigeria-adjusted 40/30/20/10 preset that accounts for our higher cost of living Inflation adjustment toggle (32% Nigeria CPI for 2026) so you see what your naira actually buys in real terms NGN/USD toggle for diaspora Nigerians or those with dollar income A "Can I Afford This?" checker so you know before you spend Monthly, weekly, and daily breakdown table Budget health score Savings goal tracker 30-day daily savings challenge Works offline and can be installed as an Android app Why I built it: The usual budgeting advice online is written for people earning dollars or pounds. The 50/30/20 rule breaks down quickly when rent alone takes 40% of a Lagos salary. I wanted something that starts from the Nigerian reality — high transport costs, unreliable power bills, the need for a serious emergency fund, and a salary that loses value every month to inflation.
