In preparation for the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, President Muhammadu Buhari traveled to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State on Thursday.

18 political parties’ presidential candidates have agreed to hold this Saturday’s election peacefully.

For the historic event on Wednesday, all of the contenders gathered at the International Convention Centre in Abuja.

Bola Tinubu (APC), Peter Obi (LP), Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP), and Dan Nwanyanwu were present as presidential candidates (ZLP).

Presidential candidates for the 2023 elections were required to sign the Peace Agreement twice, in contrast to elections held before 2015, the year the National Peace Committee was established.

In accordance with a previous decision of its National Executive Council, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership has ordered all employees to strive towards the success of the Labour Party in the general election.

This was said in a statement dated February 21, 2023 and signed by Comrade Chris Uyot, National Secretary of the NLC National Political Commission.

As a result, the NLC gave all of its political committee members in the states instructions to step up their efforts to encourage workers and Nigerians to support Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, and all other candidates running for office in the party.

Additionally, it charged the political committees with cooperating with students and their friends in civil society organizations to take all necessary measures to protect the public’s votes by guaranteeing an open, free, and fair election.

The NLC instructed all affiliated unions and State Councils of Congress to cooperate and support political committees as much as possible in order to strengthen their work at the state, local government, ward, and voting unit levels. They also instructed them to make sure that they provide at least 10 ward coordinators and canvassers in order to not only mobilize but also defend the electorate’s votes.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha Buhari, claims that a hacker placed a false remark on her social media pages concerning the extension of the deadline for the outdated naira notes.

On social media early on Tuesday, a statement claiming to be from the CBN claimed that the apex bank has ordered the reissuance of the old naira notes till May.

The CBN has refuted the claim, which was widely disseminated on Aisha Buhari’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

She said the change was the result of one of her accounts being hacked, albeit she has since removed it.

It has come to my attention that earlier this morning, a specific false report was placed on my Instagram account, which also has a direct link to my Facebook profile. Hours later, she sent an email directing that it be deleted.

The lawyers for Tonto Dikeh’s ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, have sent her a “Cease and Desist” letter.

As a violent protest over petrol shortage and the new naira notes rocked the town early on Monday, normalcy seemed to have returned to Sagamu, Sagamu Local Government Area in Ogun State.
