Dame24: Is there anyone else waiting for study permit decision since December? For fall 2026.
Just a couple of ghost updates, medical passed and eligibility review since January. Last ghost update a month ago. Mine has been since November, no solid update yet. |

Sire20: Honestly, the wait is tiring since November. My sister also got submission confirmation for her son’s WP on 24th of last month. I guess applications from Nigeria are being treated same day with same flow. We are hopeful and looking onto God for a positive result. We keep staying positive while waiting. |

kemmyk: Hello, I had to come back to your comment because I’m honestly stuck right now.
I’m having serious difficulty wiring money into my sister’s GIC. Initially, she opened with CIBC, but they said they don’t allow third-party transfers, so that didn’t work.
Then we tried TD after opening the account, but they refused a TD-to-TD transfer. The money is currently in my TD account, and they suggested that I could transfer the funds to any bank of my choice and then wire it from there to the TD GIC.
At this point, I’m really confused and don’t know what to do next. If you can share exactly how you made yours work, I’d really appreciate it. Please take note of that having someone pay on your behalf or making multiple payment and I think everything should be fine. My brother did a walk in to the CIbC branch close to him and a wire transfer was done. Same Surname tho, maybe that matters

kobobay: I don't know why it is taking so long before the application is processed. Our kids applications are already more than 3 months. I guess it’s teaching us patience, submitted application in November, so I guess it’s around same time for us. |

kemmyk: Please I need help. I am in canada sponsoring my sister from Naija, I want to open a GIC account for her, now my problem is that I learnt I can’t open the account here and deposit the money directly. Apparently the GIC has to be opened from Nigeria and the money deposited from Nigeria. My question now is that is there a way I can go about it without losing money due to the exchange rate and conversions.I don’t have Naira I only have Cad
Secondly can I use an online service to notarize my affidavit here in canada, will IRCC accept?
Thanks guys I opened with CIBC last year August, I’m still in Naija waiting on ircc and my brother in Calgary did a wire transfer to the details provided. They’ll need LOA from the school tho and some other documents. You might pay extra wire fee of 25 or 50 I can’t remember how much exactly She can apply and provide you with the wire details like I did or you do that on her behalf if you have all the details needed. He did a physical notarization though. |

SOPWriter: It's wise you deferred your enrollment, and since you did, the urgency of your case has lessened. Regardless, it won't hurt your application to seek a status update from the processing center involved with your application, which is most likely the Nairobi office.
Note that a direct email to the case processing center is more targeted than a general web form, which you relied on solely earlier. So, I recommend you do send the email. Many thanks Sir/Ma I’ll do as advised. |

SOPWriter: Your kids applications are already outside the current processing time, which is 7 weeks. You can submit a web form or email the processing centre to request a status update. If they have closely approaching enrollment dates, you can also cite them to further justify your follow-up.
IRCC Web Form: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp
Corresponding Email Addresses:
IRCC General Inquiries: questions@cic.gc.ca
High Commission of Canada in Nairobi (processes visas for Nigeria): nrobi-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca
Wishing you favorable responses. School was supposed to resume on the 6th and I submitted multiple web form prior then with no response, then I had to defer resumption. Would you still advise sending an email to the corresponding email? Please advise. |
