Hello. Thank you very much for this! Please can I get the other two previous albums? I'm so desperate for them. These guys are so good. |
It was the Late Captain Thomas Sankara that said “"It took the madmen of yesterday for us to be able to act with extreme clarity today”. Especially in these parts of the world, only madness can be used to describe what the youths of Jenta are doing. Considering the current educational landscape and the blurring future presented to Nigerian youths by our leaders, these youths from Jenta have decided to take their future into their hands. In their words “We have decided what we will be known for …. We have taken charge of our future”. Jenta, a location found in the central city of Jos. A community that has been sidelined on many grounds. There are mostly two kinds of response one receives from people when the community is mentioned, either the respondent does not know Jenta at all or the respondent know Jenta to be a very bad place. It has come to be synonymous to thuggery, crime, smoking, gangsterism, etc. It is from this hopelessness that these youths are stepping out to help themselves and other members of the community via providing a library space that will be filled with books and other education resources. Book clubs have been formed, discussions have been holding, social issues have been tabled and solutions proffered. The library will contain books as well as strong internet connectivity that will serve as a link between Jenta and the whole world. School drops have gotten a “school” while poor students now have equal chance for their studies. And arguably, this is the first time a community has decided to define its future by itself. The joyful thing about the whole project is that it is the youths that are spearheading it. As already clear from the start, Jenta Reads Community Initiative (www.jentareads..com) will go a long in helping this GRA (Government Rejected Area) to produce better citizens and as hoped by the Leader of the Initiative, Philip Dimka, a next president will sprout forth from here. “Our job is to train individuals who would change their lives, change the lives of their families, change the story of Nigeria and change the world. Our goal is not to just provide books, our goal is erudition”. Such projects can only be done in Nigeria by mad men, and indeed they must be mad (M=Making, A=A, D=Difference)
