Education / JAMB: Check Your Jamb CAPS Now by LeukocyteGraweb: 12:44pm On Nov 15, 2020
As students await admission process, it is very important that all students should check their Jamb CAPS for some little error that can deny them admission.

Some of these things include:
- O'level Result: Students are advised to log on to their Jamb dashboard, and open the JAMB CAPS to enable the check if their results are uploaded or intact.
This doesn't really mean that you've not uploaded your result. You might have uploaded it but still there's a little mistake that you've been unconscious about, maybe a mistake in your subject grades or something else. It's necessary you make necessary changes.
- Choice of Course: Proper check up should be done on your course of choice. Did you really apply for the course of your choice? Check to validate if that course is what is reflecting on your dashboard.

Click: Go to JAMB caps now

- Your date of Birth: This actually is very crucial as it won't even disturb your admission at all. Rather, you'll be given admission, but you'll afterward encounter big problem validating and verifying your admission. So if the date on your Ordinary level (O'level) result is contrary from the one you used on JAMB, then do a better adjustment as this case is very important to be dealt with.

Education / WAEC: Poor Performance? Ask For Script Remark by LeukocyteGraweb: 8:18am On Nov 15, 2020
Due to number of calls from parents, guardians and candidates displeased with some scores in the just released results by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), we now present that students can now request that their script be marked again.

Can I apply for WAEC script remark?

Yes, you can. But why do you really want to do that? Are you sure that your performance is below your expectations? And are you sure that you did better than what was given to you? If yes, then you are good to go.

Why you should request a remark?

This should be most important dealt with before any step is taken. But in no doubt, your dissatisfaction is a sufficient reason to ask that WAEC conduct a remark of the scripts of one or more subjects.

You have nothing to lose but answers to get. Since the review of the marking would show clearly what could have gone wrong that led to such unexpected scores.

This would also help schools and teachers in identifying students weakness and ways of improving such. It would also provide insights to question answering techniques that could have aided the candidate in scoring higher.

Most importantly, it would expose wrong marking on the part of examiners since there have been cases where examiners undermark candidates with wide mark differences between what they should have scored and the examiner recorded as a score for them.

Who can request a remark?

Only the WAEC school candidates are eligible for this request, provided they are very sure of their performance. WAEC private Candidates cannot make such requests.

Education / JAMB Gives Update On How Schools Will Pick Candidates For Admission Exercise by LeukocyteGraweb: 1:17am On Nov 15, 2020
Students who have been waiting for the 2020 admission exercise to commence are also eager to know what would be the criteria and how schools will be picking candidates for the 2020 Admission exercise.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has now given further explanations on how tertiary institutions across the country will conduct this year’s admission exercise.

JAMB contradict the rumors which states that 160 is the fixed cut off mark for Universities Admission. Nothing of such was concluded, as the board only said that to ensure that a university can decide to chose their cut of mark to be 160 which is the minimum cut off mark. This cut off mark was not generalized for universities.
Read Also: When will Admission process start?
However, throwing more light, Dr. Fabian Benjamey, the JAMB spokesman noted that the figures agreed in the policy meeting will be made uniform for this year admission exercise. It is optional. He stated further in a meeting at Abuja that "No uniform UTME minimum score for admission".

For a long period of time now, many candidates and some members of the general public have come under an erroneous impression that the board had given instructions which must be followed by all institutions. The truth is, there's no one cut off mark. Utme score is not the true determinant of your admission.

What would be considered?

Benjamin, the JAMB spokesman stated that; “For the 2020 admission exercise, for example, no candidate with a UTME score of 209 can be considered for admission into any programme at PAU whose minimum UTME score is 210.

He further stated that “No candidate would be considered admission into any of these Schools without a minimum of 200 in their UTME examination: Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), University of Ibadan (UI), University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Benin (UNIBEN) and CU.

And no candidates without a minimum of 180 would be considered admission into these institutions: Lagos State University (190); Afe Babalola University (180), Nigerian Army University, Biu (180); University of Jos (180), University of Abuja (180), Redeemers University (180), University of Ilorin (180), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (180), Bayero University Kano (180), Alex Ekwueme University (180) and PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt (180).

You've known your fate now and where you belong to. While buying your post utme form, choose wisely.

Education / JAMB: Institutions To Begin First, Second Choice Admissions by LeukocyteGraweb: 1:10am On Nov 15, 2020
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all tertiary institutions to begin the conduct of the first and second choice admissions from November 18, 2020.

The board gave this directive after the dissolve of the general lockdown imposed on all states and local governments within the country.

Dr Fabian, the JAMB spokesman in the guidelines, warned institutions against duplication of forms, adding that they should stop the of selling forms for admissions into some listed programmes.

The board also urged institutions to advise all candidates to apply for the programmes through its office, adding that all admission exercise must be conducted on the Central Admission Processing System, CAPS.

This implies that all applications for admissions to First Degree, National Diploma (ND), National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) into full-time, distance learning, part-time, outreach, sandwich, etc, must be processed only through JAMB CAPS.

The board also laid emphasis on the issue of double registration, explaining that there's no need for a student to obtain both the UTME form and the Direct entry form.
This explains the function of the upgrade button in the JAMB website. It is a command to convert your UTME platform to a DE platform.

Education / JAMB: See Why You Cannot Keep On Repeating The Same Examination by LeukocyteGraweb: 9:14pm On Nov 13, 2020
An event or process cannot continue for so long a time. You cannot keep on writing an exam for over three to six years holding to the fact that you want to study a particular course.
You are entitled to multiple trial as JAMB don't have any issues with you writing even for fourteen consecutive years: Inasmuch as they are making their money from you, no one cares.
But at the same time, it is important we talk about your wrong decision to study one particular course by all means, thereby keeping you for so long in an unprogressive track. It is really not great at all, though you may always claim to be aiming at the best.

Why you cannot keep repeating JAMB over and over again
Maybe you've not seen someone that you were ahead of in secondary school, but is now ahead of you? I guess that will be enough to trigger you.
- Delay: You'll be delayed. When you mates have graduated and have even started earning, you'll remain at a point.
- Disrespect: Maybe your siblings, I mean the ones you can easily give birth to, have not insulted you before. You'll know how painful it is when a child will address you like a child: youou know what it means. Nevertheless, people can still endure this things.
Note: There'll be difficulty changing your mind if you don't have it at the back of your mind that, "not only that course (that you intend to study) exist" and "not only people that study that course will make it". And if it's the course of your passion, then consider another way to get the admission instead of one way.

What other alternative is available for me to gain Admission?
- No special alternative than, consider any admission given to you. Study the course and graduate; though you may give JAMB some other try when you're in school. It will even help you, since you might have gained one or more new knowledge that couldn't make you stand out among other Jambites.
- After graduating from that alternative course; you have now attained a certificate that you wouldn't have attained had it been you went straight to study that course of your choice. Now, you can proceed to use direct entry with your good grades.

Advantages of this process over the direct admission
- You have successfully attained an additional certificate that you wouldn't have gotten anywhere.
- You are academically sound than those that were admitted directly (that's if you know what you are doing)
- You can even keep working with your attained certificate as you continue your education.

Disclaimer!
I didn't say you should not write JAMB multiple times, but I said you should better find another alternative instead of remaining in a stagnant position for years in the name of I want to study a particular course.
