…Residents alert authorities after strange arrival at private property

Authorities in Benue State on Saturday intercepted 33 men transported from various northern states under suspicious circumstances, triggering public anxiety over possible coordinated attacks amidst ongoing unrest in the region.





The men, who reportedly arrived in two buses, attempted to settle at a private residence located in Gyado Villa, Makurdi. Their arrival without prior notice or official clearance raised immediate suspicion among residents and youth leaders.

Following a distress call placed by concerned individuals including Mr Barns Dzege and staff of Villa Suites, a combined team of state officials and security operatives stormed the premises.

The response team included the Benue State Commissioner for Works and Housing, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, and officials from the local government, who coordinated the arrest and preliminary investigation.

According to Mr Asortar James Asortar, Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media, the 33 men were allegedly mobilised by a company that was only recently registered on May 8, 2025, and claimed to be operating as a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

He said, “Upon arrival at Villa Suites, it was discovered that all 33 individuals were brought in that same day from different northern states.

“Initial interviews revealed that most of them could not speak English, and their purpose for settling in a private house within the community remains unclear.”

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia commended the proactive efforts of Gyado Villa residents and the Villa Suites team for raising alarm before the situation escalated.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on Muslim nations to take united action to confront Israel's increasing lawlessness and acts of aggression against the countries in the region.

Araghchi made the appeal in a phone conversation with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, on Saturday, where the two sides discussed the recent Israeli attacks against Iran.

“The blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, the clear threat to regional and international peace and stability, and the deliberate targeting of civilians, university professors, and nuclear facilities once again demonstrated the fact that the impunity of the illegitimate Israeli regime encourages it to commit more crimes and aggression,” he said.

...Missiles were fired from Iran to Israel on Sunday early morning

The fresh wave of Iranian missile strikes targeted the heart of the Zionist entity in the early hours of Sunday as the Yemeni military reportedly struck the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

After the first round that began around 11:45 a.m. Iran time on Saturday, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) resumed 'Operation True Promise III' around 3:34 am Iran time.

In a statement after the first round that lasted more than two hours and constituted hundreds of missiles and drones that hit their targets, IRGC spokesperson, Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, announced that they had struck the Israeli regime’s fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply lines with a massive barrage of missiles and drones.

He said the offensive operations of the Iranian armed forces against the Zionist regime over its continued aggression will continue with “even greater force and scale” if the acts of aggression persist.

Images that circulated after the operation resumed showed Iranian drones, followed by ballistic missiles, bypassing multi-layer Israeli air defense systems to make direct impacts.

The targets included military and intelligence facilities, industrial sites, fighter jet production facilities and other strategic installations affiliated with the Tel Aviv regime, as per reports.



The main focus of this new round of ‘Operation True Promise III’ is the occupied port city of Haifa, which is home to several critical military and industrial facilities of the Zionist regime.



Settlers were seen taking shelter in underground bunkers, while the regime officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had already taken cover in his underground hideout, as per reports.



Firefighting and rescue teams have been operating in “Gush Dan” (central occupied territories) and the occupied al-Quds after missiles made impact, buildings were damaged, and a blaze broke out.



A report said one of the Iranian missiles directly hit a high-rise building in Greater Tel Aviv area. Six other strategic sites in Tel Aviv were also directly hit by Iranian missiles.

The strikes that took place in the hours of Sunday morning coincided with missile launches by the Yemeni military targeting the strategic Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.



Israeli Broadcasting Authority was quoted as saying that the Zionist entity was under a combined attack with missiles and drones from Iran and Yemen.



Drone sirens went off across the occupied territories, pointing to continuous overflight by swarms of armed unmanned aerial vehicles towards the city. reports said.



According to one report by the Israeli radio, the missile launches from Iran and Yemen were coordinated with the arrival of drone squadrons in Tel Aviv.



Yemen has carried out a series of military operations against the Israeli regime amid the ongoing genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has nominated 12 commissioners to serve in the state executive council.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Akure by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan.


The statement disclosed that the names of the nominees have been forwarded to the state House of Assembly for confirmation.

It explained that the nomination was conveyed in a letter addressed to Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji on Thursday.

The nominees are, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, Engr Ayorinde Olawoye, Mr Ayodele Akande, Engr Alabi Johnson, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Mr Adewale Akinlosotu, Mr Idowu Ajanaku and Mrs Oluwaseun Osamaye.

Others are; Dr Tob Loko, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, Hon. Sunday Olajide and Mr Omoyofunmi Henry.

“In exercise of the power conferred on me by Section 192 (1&2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I wish to forward to your esteemed office the following commissioner nominees for your kind consideration and confirmation of the House of Assembly.

“I shall be most obliged to the honourable House for your expeditious action on this request in the overall interest of our dear state.

“Please accept, as always, my highest regards for your esteemed self and other distinguished Members of the House,” the statement noted.

The Chairman of Ekiti State Education Trust Fund, Prof. Caleb Igbalajobi, is dead.

The Efon Alaaye-born professor of Special Education, died on June 8, 2025.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, expressed condolences on Igbalajobi’s passing and described him as as “a truly patriotic Nigerian, a man of honour and a firm believer Ekiti Project”.

Oyebanji, in a statement on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, described the late professor as “a distinguished Ekiti leader and a renowned scholar who demonstrated a great commitment to the development of the educational sector in the state and in the country”.
The governor said, “The late Igbalajobi would be missed for his immense contributions to scholarship, wise counsel and nation building, especially his role as chairman of the state’s ETF, where he served until he breathed his last”.

Oyebanji urged the children and family of the renowned professor to be consoled with the fact that he lived a good life of service and left a good name.

He also prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed elder statesman.

Senator Bamidele also announced that the Senate was considering an extension of the implementation period for the 2024 budget, particularly its capital expenditure component.

He said, ‘We have to sit and assess the full implementation of the 2024 budget. We will extend the capital expenditure timeline while ensuring the 2025 budget is fully implemented.

Speaking on constitutional reform, Senator Bamidele who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, however acknowledged that progress has been slow, but assured that the process is ongoing.

He asserted that the committee was close to the final stages of its work and plans to hold public hearings at zonal levels in the coming weeks, leading to a joint public hearing coordinated by both chambers of the National Assembly.

He said, “We’ve done almost 70 percent of the work before going public. Before the end of the third legislative year, we intend to complete the constitutional amendment process.”
