Chriswazo:
Hello,
I wrote this over the weekend but couldn't post it again. Honestly this listening is playing with my head.

I felt like giving up and am in A2 with you too. My lesson is smh discontinued because d want to work me on listening and speaking before anything else.

I feel pressured already...
We need help really lipsrsealed

Lest I forget, I decided to do a self practice on Sunday with the absolute beginners listening practice of Frenchpod 101,

..... I couldn't finish, stopped after 4 exercises, cos, hmmmmm...
Do not beat yourself up for not understanding anything while listening, it is something that improves with time, even people on B2 do not understand everything it is a gradual process, understanding the words, sentences and making sense of them en ce moment serais une bataille difficile. Try to understand master the sounds and allow your brain to register them while you work on vocabulary. You will see that over time you will start making sense of conversation in French.

FrenchPod101 is an excellent platform for listening especially with beginners level, besides that, try to listen to French radio like rfi, France inter etc. Listen to them passively and actively even if you don't understand anything because subconsciously your brain is registering the sounds. C'est mon conseil

wow, this is outstanding o, and self study again, you might be able to write TEF in three months then, since about 70% is needed and you are already on 80%
I still have some learning to do before writing because I want to sit for it once. It's just requires a lot self-study because where classes or tutoring provides guidance and structure, it can only take you so far. I can be maniac when I want to get something done and at the moment, French is my prisoner cheesy

Pls see this post. The person was a beginner, started form zero, there were physically classes then, but most of the work was done alone, at home. It is extremely detailed. Materials used are contained in it.

You could also ask to see if AF have an online school, I think IEF do.

Try iTalki
Try Duolingo
Try http://www.coursera.org/learn/etudier-en-france

Enough resources have been shared on this thread, just pick one of the A1 books and start there.

The journey of a 1000 miles starts with a step, just start!
Bonjour a tous.

I have been following all your threads, and it has been very inspiring. To add to what Mamaroon's response. Learning French is all about dedication and commitment in which without these, you should not venture. I just started learning last month immediately after the lockdown started. I tried using several resources likes Duolingo, Busuu, LearnfrenchwithAlexa,frenchpod101, youtube and collins french conservation, a private tutor and a lot of self-study. I can tell that today, I can 80% fluently read and understand French articles, I can have conversations in French with minor mistakes here and there, I still search for words but that will get easier with time, I am 80% comfortable with the mighty French conjugation and I can understand a bit of what is being talked about on RFI. In summary, there is no easy way of learning French. The only magic is dedication and commitment. if you have these two, you will eat and breathe French every day, which will lead to learning the language faster, and learning French in 7 months is very possible.
