"Leg Over” singer, Mr Eazi has hailed the Nigerian music community for appreciating his “Ghanaian sound” – according to him, most of the top Afrobeats and African songs are all on the merger of Ghana and Nigerian sounds, a sound that he is the pioneer of.

Mr Eazi, the pioneer of Banku Music – a fusion sound he describes as a blend of “Ghanaian bounces, Ghanaian highlife, Nigerian chord progressions, and Nigerian patterns” – made this known when he was a guest on Capital Xtra’s Reggae Recipe.

He said;

“THE SPEED AT WHICH I’VE MOVED IS SCARY TO ME…CAUSE IT TOOK MY CONTEMPORARIES 5, 6 YEARS,”

“AND THAT IS WHAT HAS BEEN THIS YEAR, IF YOU WANT TO COUNT LIKE 5 AFROBEAT, IT’S LIKE EVERYBODY JUST REALIZED THAT ‘YO WHAT FORMULA IS MR EAZI USING?’ OK WE’RE GONNA END UP DOING IT”.

Olamide’s trending song, Wo! has officially crossed the border to the international side. US producer and rapper, Swizz Beatz recently joined in the viral Wo! challenge, the producer posted a video of himself grooving zealously to the Nigerian street hit and it is such a joy to watch.
