https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Bitcoin-drop-810x544.jpg Basically, it’s between the miners and the Bitcoin core team. Both want different things. Experts who are responsible for the popular crypto-currency, Bitcoin are having a dispute on how the currency should operate and handle transactions with a new software update that is to be released next Friday. Bitcoin, which was originally launched in 2009 and is the world’s most valuable crypto-currency only exists on a computer and could all be destroyed in any large emp attack. The virtual currency has no regulatory body controlling it and currently has a market capitalization of more than $38billion (£29billion). Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and a digital payment system that’s not tied to any bank or government. It was invented by an unknown programmer, or a group of programmers, under the name Satoshi Nakamoto. Just like normal currency we use in our daily lives, Bitcoin can allow users to send and receive money anonymously https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Bitcoin-price-news-bubble-burst-crash-cryptocurrency-829134.jpg 2015 and 2016 marked a great year for the anonymous currency as it became the world’s best-performing currency. Numerous investors who predicted the exponential rise of the currency years before were able to pocket millions of dollars. Early this year (2017), Bitcoin has continued it rise in value with a 150% value jump to reach $3,000 in June, meanwhile as the virtual currency is known to be is notoriously volatile, , it also fell quickly and has had a big drop of around 20% in the last 4 weeks ($2,300) since it peaked in June. What’s behind all the problems? The internal dispute that has affected the cryptocurrency could affect the value of the coin and cause delay in transactions using the currency. This all depends on the experts who are responsible for maintaining the currency can settle for a balanced agreement before July 31st deadline in order to update the system software and improve network security and capacity. Nevertheless, it is also possible that nothing could be affected, but with the recent drop in value, it seems unlikely. The software upgrade will affect miners who usually profit from verifying transactions of Bitcoin, and are not willing to take the change in the system. Miners are very important part of the Bitcoin system and split between them and companies could result in a big panic in the virtual currency marketplace. https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Untitled-810x291.png Bitcoins are created by computer farms that “mine” them and verify other users transactions in the system by solving complex mathematical puzzles. Miners receive Bitcoin in exchange. It’s also possible to exchange Bitcoin for other currencies. But as the currency begins to gain widespread adoptions, payments are beginning to get more complex and so much delay during transactions has been common in recent times, this made a group of highly trained software engineers develops a system that basically re-engineered Bitcoin’s universal ledger, a file called the blockchain. This new method has gained praise within the tech communities with notably Microsoft, the bitcoin exchange Coinbase and some other bitcoin proponents supporting the idea. But this bitcoin software update doesn’t have unanimous support. What then would happen on Aug 1? : https://smartgeek.com.ng/2017/07/16/bitcoin-could-crash-on-aug-1/ |

https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/shutterstock_340099598-810x494.jpg Internet of things is the next big thing in our connected world. You might have heard of Internet of things (IoT) at some point either from a friend, family, online advertisement. So What is IoT? Internet of Things is a very wide and young field that helps us to link devices together in order for them to share valuable data and insights across platforms using embedded sensors. The association responsible for this technology called Global Standards Initiative on Internet of Things (IoT-GSI) defined IoT as “a global infrastructure for the information society, enabling advanced services by interconnecting (physical and virtual) things based on existing and evolving interoperable information and communication technologies” The beauty of IoT is that it allows devices to be remotely controlled across existing platforms thereby making it possible for a more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, and resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit in addition to reduced human intervention. The term “the Internet of Things” was coined by Kevin Ashton of Procter & Gamble, later MIT’s Auto-ID Center, in 1999 Applications of the Internet of Things. The applications of Internet of things (IoT) are numerous and has the potential to greatly impact how we work and live. More devices and objects are now connecting to the internet as the cost of connecting to it continue to drop drastically, more technologies continue to flood the tech space, smartphone production continues to scale, and so on. This has laid the perfect landing ground for Internet of things (IoT) to flourish. In 2014 it was said that we have more than 16 billion Internet of things (IoT) devices in the world and could jump to 50 billion in 2016. 1) Connected Cars. https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/shutterstock_573769474.jpg One of the numerous examples of how IoT is used in the world today is in transportation. These cars have inbuilt internet access and can connect and share data with other devices like your phone, office computer e.t.c There is an app called Automatic, for example, it tracks information of your car by using an in-car adapter. It keeps information like mileage, hours driven, the cost of fuel, fuel efficiency, location, and ignition status. 2) Smart Home. https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/shutterstock_205477615.jpg Currently, the Smart Home is the most popular use of Internet of things (IoT), as it is easy to use and available already in the tech space. So what is a Smart Home? One of the most popular IoT devices is the Amazon Echo, it helps to control your smart home, get information, news, weather, play your favourite music and more. Think of been able to switch on your air conditioning in your room minutes before you leave your office or been able to lock your doors after remembering miles out of your home, or even let in your grandma when you are not at home. The use of IoT at home is endless. The running cost of a house sometimes is a big burden for owners, but with smart home you can save energy and resources efficiently. Here’s a brief video which shows you a smart home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjYTzvAVozo 3) Wearables. https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/shutterstock_183488225.jpg READ MORE:::::::https://smartgeek.com.ng/2017/06/22/the-internet-of-things/::::::: |

https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/HACKERCOVER-copy.jpg Turn left- Nerds, right- techies, up- Digital Nomads or Hipsters! Planet Earth has had tough times embracing the geek culture over the last centuries, But today! The Geek culture is finally finding its footsteps in our community due to the increase in needs and importance in helping to digitally revolutionise this fantastic planet of ours. People of Earth are finally embracing the Geek culture– even in public spaces. Have you recently visited a coffee shop? You can’t enjoy your nice and fresh beverage sip without noticing the nerd or geek sitting close to the window with her laptop sipping her favourite hot coffee- Breaking news! She is probably earning 6 times of your annual income as she sits like a lazy queen in the coffee shop, 18 hours a day. Today Geeks are not the shy little kids who hide his gadgets so as not to be called names, today, it’s a boast. It has become cool to be a geek, mostly because so many of those little kids who had that insult thrown at them went on to do big, important things—and generate billion-dollar fortunes along the way. However, as the world continue to seek more technically inclined professionals, Geeks spread across the globe in an “all conquer manner”. https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/beautiful-young-hipster-woman-sitting-in-a-coffee-shop-relax-an_1150-705.jpg Just like during high school we have bookworms, music nerds, the emos e.t.c there are different “geek settlements” of the Geek culture. Meanwhile, some people tend to be part of a “hybrid settlement”. Cont'd Reading?>>>>https://smartgeek.com.ng/2017/06/14/earth-embraces-geek-tribe/ |
I must say am really moved by your review. Thank you so much. Just to try and say somethings on your truely awesome review 1) Tag line : I wanted to add a tagline which is "Embrace your inner geekeries" right below the logo ( i created it myself) but i noticed adding it affected my caurosel below a bit. i had weeks to work around it but it was a big headache so i decided to let it go. 2) Side bar : The main reason i eliminated the sidebar is to uphold one important message i wanted the site to pass across " CONTENT IS KING!" If you notice the homepage is also without any ad. In a world where very technical geeks prefer to use ad blockers a site like such should contain less ads. Meanwhile each posts carry a side bar and ads. Subscribe widget: Am really moved by this particular review point and i would definately work on it. I intially had a subscribe button on the posts sidebar but i removed it. I am still loking for how to incoporate it into the homepage somewhere, maybe a popup that comes after you have been on the site for more than 10secs so as not to affect the user experience but am a bit skeptical about the idea as me myself get turned out by sites with multiple pop ups. Then also pop ups make use of heavy javascripts and they affect the speed of the site which in turn affects my SEO. Neverthelesss, it is one of my biggest piority now! Thank you for this point. Den of Geek Feed: I decided to add den of geek feed mainly because this is a site that intially inspired me to start SmartGeek ( Intailly Geeks World on BBM Channels- which is now a verified channel on BBMC) Google +: I totally agree with this but based on the little i know about SEO, Google + helps for fast indexing of sites by Google. If it helps my SEO, i think i should still keep it. We have hard time growing on Facebook tho and we might stay off it soon. Monetization and other Biz: The truth is monetization is not a big piority for me now, i just want to build a big brand around it. Branded material is another big advice i have picked from your review and i must say Thank you for that suggestion, it is definately something i am looking at this year ( SmartGeek started last year) And on the aspect of African related comic books and manga, we are currently in partnership with Vortex comics ( an african comic based company that owns Strike guard and other afro related comic books) The partnership is however linked to our verfied BBM Channels called Geeks World & SmartGeek ( you can find them on BBM via the Channel search bar) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE FANTASTIC REVIEW!!! https://smartgeek.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/ransomware.jpg WannaCry Ransomware has caused so many problems in the last week. If your PC was one of those infected by the popular WannaCry ransomware that was released weeks ago, luck just hit you. The ransomware hit the web last Friday causing havoc to systems in over 180 countries around the world -the ransomware locked users files and requested for a $300 worth of bitcoin for those files to be unlocked. This ransomware was a result of the hacking group “The Shadow Brokers”, who released tools it stole from NSA into the dark web. Those tools were now used by an unknown group of hackers to create the WannaCry ransomware and infect users running the Microsoft Windows. Initially, a French security researcher called Adrien Guinet found a fix to the ransomware, a technique that could be used to get the secret encryption keys used by the hackers who created the WannaCry ransomware, but it works for only Windows XP compared to Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and 2008 operating systems that was stated at its release. Adrien afterward released a WannaCry ransomware decryption tool, named WannaKey to his GitHub repo, in other to make it accessible to other security researchers who are willing to make an update that works across all windows operating system. A security researcher named, Benjamin Delpy has made an upgrade to Adrien initial tool. He called it “WanaKiwi” and is compatible with Windows 7, Windows XP, Server 2003, Server 2008 and Vista. Meanwhile for this new tool to work: You must not have rebooted your computer after it was infected. The associated memory has not been allocated and erased by some other process. {{{{{{{{{{{{---------- Download tool and Read more here: https://smartgeek.com.ng/2017/05/23/hufree-decryption-tool-wannacry/ ------------}}}}}}}}}}}} |

Lol those who told you " comp sci in uni is a waste of time" are just the devil. I can't even start to name how many Google engineers graduated from Bsc comp sci in Nigeria. |
Lmfao! this is the most unrealistic thing EVER! Number one if you like go to harvard, the practical aspect of comp sci cannot be taught in the classroom. You better be prepared to teach and learn yourself they can only teach you the basic like they teach you abc then you go find how to make sentence yourself. There are millions of people who didn't even study comp sci that are great programmers today. PLS DON'T CHOOSE POLYTECHNIC AHEAD OF UNIVERSITY FOR COMP SCI because you want practical. I studied comp sci in a Uni and i know a friend that finished from Yabatech too he can't boast of having better practical experience than i do. |
