🚨 WHISTLEBLOWER THREAD 🚨 What is happening to over 140 workers at Federal Polytechnic Offa through the Polytechnic Consult scheme deserves national attention. Qualified graduates and professionals are allegedly being used as cheap labour while proper federal employment opportunities are being reserved for connected individuals and relatives. THREAD👇 1. Many competent staff members working under the Polytechnic Consult arrangement reportedly earn just ₦30,000 monthly in 2026 Nigeria — despite the national minimum wage being ₦70,000. 2. Salaries are also allegedly delayed for weeks. A worker’s May salary may not arrive until around June 18–20. How are people expected to survive, feed families, transport themselves, and remain productive under these conditions? 3. These workers carry out essential academic and administrative responsibilities that keep the institution functioning, yet they reportedly remain underpaid, insecure, and excluded from proper federal appointments. 4. The alleged system appears designed to exploit competent people temporarily while influential individuals secure permanent opportunities for their own preferred candidates. 5. This is not just unfair — it raises serious labour, ethical, and accountability concerns. We call on: @OfficialEFCC @ICPC_PE @NLCHeadquarters @Fmohnigeria @NigEducation @MinOfLabourNG @SaharaReporters @ARISEtv @channelstv @MobilePunch @daily_trust @HumanRightsNG …to urgently investigate the treatment of these workers and the recruitment process surrounding Polytechnic Consult engagements. Nigerian workers deserve: ✔ Fair wages ✔ Timely salary payment ✔ Transparent recruitment ✔ Equal opportunity ✔ Dignity of labour #FederalPolyOffa #Offa #Kwara #MinimumWage #LabourRights #Nigeria #WorkersRights #Whistleblower

Dear Nairalanders, I bring this issue here out of frustration and a strong sense of injustice regarding what is currently happening at Summit University. After completing our top-up programme, students were informed that we could apply for our transcripts. Many of us did exactly that and paid a sum of ₦10,000. This payment was meant to cover our transcript processing, including personal copies and sending it to institutions for further studies. At that point, we believed everything concerning transcripts had been settled. However, to our shock, as we are preparing for convocation, the school has now introduced another transcript charge -this time ₦15,000. Yes, you read that right. Students who have already paid ₦10,000 are now being told to pay an additional ₦15,000 for the same transcript process. When we raised concerns and questioned this, we were met with a very disappointing response. We were told, in clear terms, that it is not their concern whether we paid before - we must pay again. This is where the problem lies. How can students be charged twice for the same service? Why was the initial ₦10,000 collected if another compulsory ₦15,000 would still be imposed later? Why is there no proper explanation or accountability? This is not just unfair - it feels like exploitation. Students are already doing their best to meet financial obligations in this country. Imposing duplicate charges without transparency only adds unnecessary burden and frustration. We are not refusing to meet legitimate requirements, but we are asking for fairness, clarity, and accountability. I hereby call on: The management of Summit University to address this issue immediately Relevant education authorities to look into this practice Fellow students and affected individuals to speak up If we keep quiet, these kinds of practices will continue unchecked. This is not just about ₦10,000 or ₦15,000—it is about doing what is right. We deserve better.

Fellow Nigerians, I write today with a heavy heart and deep frustration over the continuous loss of innocent lives across our nation. The rate at which bandits and armed groups operate freely in different parts of Nigeria is not just alarming - it is unacceptable. Every week, we hear of new attacks. Villages are invaded, families are displaced, and lives are cut short. What is even more painful is that these incidents are gradually becoming “normal news.” How did we get here? The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. Yet, it seems like the government has become either overwhelmed or, worse still, indifferent. The silence, slow response, and lack of decisive action send a dangerous message that the lives of ordinary Nigerians do not matter enough. We cannot continue like this. Where is the urgency? Where is the accountability? Where is the coordinated strategy to end this menace? It is not enough to issue statements after every attack. Nigerians need action — visible, measurable, and effective action. Security agencies must be properly equipped, intelligence systems strengthened, and perpetrators brought to justice without delay. This is not about politics. This is about human lives. Communities are living in fear. Farmers cannot go to their farms. Students are afraid to go to school. Travelers are no longer safe on our roads. A nation cannot progress under this kind of insecurity. I call on: The Federal Government to take immediate and decisive steps Security agencies to intensify operations and restore confidence Community leaders and stakeholders to collaborate for local intelligence Nigerians to continue to raise their voices and demand accountability Silence is no longer an option. If we do not speak up, if we do not demand better, then we risk losing even more lives to this crisis. Nigeria belongs to all of us. We deserve to live in peace and security. Enough is enough. |
