SportsDonnarumma: From Public Enemy No.1 To Milan’s Champions League Superstar by LoversZone(op): 7:01am On Mar 16, 2019
The 20-year-old is winning fans back after his contract controversy, with his displays propelling the Rossoneri toward a top-four finish in Serie A

In the first edition of this season’s Milan derby, all eyes were expected to be on either Gianluigi Donnarumma or Mauro Icardi come full time.

In the end, they were on both, but for very different reasons.

Just as the game looked set to peter out at 0-0, Matias Vecino’s harmless cross was misjudged by Donnarumma, allowing Icardi to pounce at the back post and head home a stoppage-time winner.
Editors' Picks

Without three centre-backs, a left-back and two defensive midfielders, Gennaro Gattuso was forced to put square pegs into round holes. It was a period that saw full-backs Ignazio Abate and Ricardo Rodriguez play as centre-backs, while winger Fabio Borini played as a wing-back.

Milan surprised all by strengthening their challenge for Champions League football in this time, and so the performances of the square pegs came in for praise. But the key man was behind the makeshift defence: a commanding Donnarumma, who has benefited from attention being elsewhere this season.

Whether on the injuries, Gattuso’s future, or the domino transfers of Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata and, Milan’s January signing, Krzysztof Piatek, focus has, for once, been off the 20-year-old, despite him having some of the best stats in Europe.

Of the goalkeepers who have played 15 games or more, only Inter’s Samir Handanovic – and by the finest of margins – has a better save percentage than Donnarumma, who has kept 10 clean sheets in his last 16 games and conceded just six goals.

“He is way more mature and has plenty of self-confidence,” former Milan stopper Christian Abbiati told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “He is doing amazing things this season.”

Gattuso has noticed it too, telling the press: “In Donnarumma, I see a goalkeeper who has great confidence.”

The manager’s faith in him has played no small part in that. While Milan fans called for him to leave, Gattuso was always behind his goalkeeper.

After consoling him on the pitch following the unveiling of the ‘get out’ banner, Gattuso said: “He will have my protection, for all the protection I can give.

“He's an 18-year-old kid, of course he was shaken. I can only thank him for what he's doing.

“For his age, he's the best goalkeeper in the world right now. You can tell from his face he's not happy, but I have known a great athlete and great kid.” <<<Read More @ www.isportng.com >>>

SportsEXTRA TIME: Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Sends Football Kits To Kenyan Kid by LoversZone(op): 1:33pm On Mar 14, 2019
The Gunners playmaker was moved by a picture on social media that showed the boy wearing an improvised shirt of him

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has shown his class off the pitch by assisting a young Kenyan boy with his authentic club jersey and football boots.

The boy, Lawrence was snapped by a social media user in December while herding cattle with a makeshift Arsenal shirt that has the name and number of the former Germany international written boldly with a marker.

Fortunately, Ozil got the message on Twitter and he has taken action by putting smiles on the boy's face with pairs of boots and newly-signed Arsenal jerseys.
The gesture might not be a big deal for the 30-year-old who earns £350,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium but it goes a long way in lifting the spirits of the boy who was captured in Nairobi. <<< Read More @ www.isportng.com >>>
Sports'football, Bloody Hell!' - Solskjaer's Man Utd Miracle In Paris by LoversZone(op): 5:29am On Mar 07, 2019
Three weeks after losing 2-0 at home to Paris Saint-Germain, a patched-up United side went to Parc des Princes and pulled off a historic 3-1 win

Football. Bloody hell!

The comeback of all comebacks. Forget what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did as a player on that famous night in 1999, this was a moment like never before.

You just don’t win from a two-goal home leg defeat. Not in the Champions League.

But Manchester United, in the most dramatic of circumstances, did exactly that.

It came thanks to a very contentious VAR decision, but United’s 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Parc des Princes was one of the most memorable nights in the long European history of a club which has been built around dramatic evenings on the continent.

Romelu Lukaku’s first-half brace had looked set to be nothing more than consolation fodder until Damir Skomina was advised by his video official to have another look at the deflection off Presnel Kimpembe’s elbow on Diogo Dalot’s goal-bound shot.

Marcus Rashford kept his head while all around him were losing theirs. He struck the ball with confidence and force, and even Gianluigi Buffon wasn’t going to keep it out.

With that, Solskjaer the last-gasp playing hero was a management king of the same mould.

They couldn’t have wished for a more perfect start, with Thilo Kehrer’s ill-judged pass across his own defence sending Lukaku free. The Belgian kept his cool to round Buffon and slide home from a narrow angle. <<Continue Reading @ https://isportng.com/2019/03/07/football-bloody-hell-solskjaers-man-utd-miracle-in-paris-up-there-with-barcelona-in-99/ >>
SportsWhy Solskjaer's Man Utd Injury Crisis Is Partly Mourinho's Fault by LoversZone(op): 8:38am On Feb 27, 2019
The Norwegian could be without 10 players on Wednesday, but it is a natural consequence of demanding more from his squad than his predecessor did

“My injury record is very low,” boasted Jose Mourinho on the day he was unveiled as Manchester United manager in July 2016. “So I never promote because of a need. I did it because of conviction and decision.”

In defending claims that he never gives chances to young players, Mourinho gave a nod to a problem which is currently hanging over Manchester United barely a couple of months after the Portuguese’s departure.

His successor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is currently wrestling with the loss of 10 players from his first-team squad due to injury ahead of Wednesday’s visit to Crystal Palace. It is the worst medical crisis United have faced since the season before Mourinho’s arrival, when Louis van Gaal was shorn of 14 senior stars due to injury at a similar time of the campaign.

SportsThe Most Disliked Chelsea Boss Since Benitez - How Sarri Lost The Fans by LoversZone(op): 1:35pm On Feb 21, 2019
The Blues supporters never took to the former Liverpool boss but their unhappiness was nothing compared to the backlash Maurizio Sarri is now enduring

Not since Rafael Benitez has a Chelsea manager been as disliked as Maurizio Sarri.

Blues supporters have grown bitterly disillusioned with the Italian's dogged tactical approach, which they feel is responsible for the Blues being knocked out of the FA Cup, and dropping rapidly down the Premier League table.

The recent 4-0 and 6-0 losses to Bournemouth and Manchester City, respectively, were historically bad results but Chelsea's overall form across the winter period has been wretched.

Many managers have been fallen out of favour at Chelsea under the ownership of Roman Abramovich.

Benitez, though, was greeted with immediate disdain by fans who hadn't forgotten the barbed comments the Spaniard aimed at the west Londoners during his time in charge of Liverpool.

By contrast, everyone wanted Sarri to succeed when he arrived at Chelsea during the summer.

The Blues fans were seduced by the prospect of the kind of expansive, possession-based football that has rarely been seen at Stamford Bridge, with the club's previous successes having been achieved under pragmatists like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Less than eight months on, though, and that dream has died.

Chants of "F*ck Sarriball" came from the Matthew Harding End in Monday's FA Cup last-16 loss to Manchester United. It was a landmark moment, the first time Chelsea fans had turned so viciously on their club's manager over his tactics.

It is not that Chelsea don't want to see good football but, as Sarri says, he is a "dreamer" and the club's most passionate supporters now believe that the Italian is in sleep-walking towards a cliff edge.

Maurizio Sarri Chelsea 2019

Sarri is choosing to live or die at Chelsea by his tactical approach, having lined up in the same 4-3-3 system in each game, using a core group of just 14 players.

However, he has received criticism for his use of defensive midfielder N'Golo Kante in a more attacking role, Jorginho's lack of physicality in the engine room and his refusal to invest more faith in the club's famed Academy players.

Chelsea-born comedian Omid Djalili is best known for making people laugh but he is saddened by the current situation at Stamford Bridge.

"I hate to say it because I wanted to believe in Sarriball," he confesses. "Now it feels like Chelsea are my best friend getting beaten up by teenage girls. Manchester United are not that good, but they found it easy against us."

Djalili, who still manages to follow the Blues home and away in spite of his hectic schedule, says that Sarri's loss of support is unprecedented at Chelsea, the kind of fan fury that evokes memories of the Middlesbrough supporter who tore up a season ticket in 2006 and threw it at then manager Steve McClaren.

"So many fans walked out during the United game," he reveals. "It was quite a landmark moment. I had never seen that before. I even wanted to get away quickly myself because I had a gig, but I couldn’t get to my motorbike because so many supporters were leaving.

"As soon as [Davide] Zappacosta came on for Cesar Azpilicueta, with Hudson-Odoi and Olivier Giroud on the bench, I saw the stadium empty. I thought that was it for Sarri; people were screaming.

"A lot of us still believed before that game. But we have hit a point of no return, unfortunately. We have lost faith.

"I think we should change. Before the League Cup final [against Manchester City on Sunday]. I am surprised he hasn’t gone already."

Sports'ronaldo 5, Atletico Madrid 0' - Juventus Star Comes Out Fighting Despite Loss by LoversZone(op): 1:18pm On Feb 21, 2019
The five-time Ballon d'Or could not resist boasting about his career achievements despite his side losing at the Wanda Metripolitano

Cristiano Ronaldo might have been on the wrong side of the result as Atletico Madrid beat his Juventus side in the Champions League - but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner could not resist having the final word.

Diego Simeone's side overcame the two-time European champions 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano through goals from Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin on a night dominated by controversy surrounding the Video Assistant Referee [VAR].

Ronaldo was making his first return to the Spanish capital since his summer move from Real Madrid to Turin.

And though Juve were overwhelmed, the Portugal international did not want to leave Madrid with anyone under any illusions as to his brilliance.

Walking through the mixed zone after the game he barked: "I have five Champions Leagues, you [Atletico] have none."

The 34-year-old won the European Cup with Manchester United in 2008 before scooping it four times with Los Blancos - including twice at the expense of city rivals Atletico in the 2014 and 2016 finals.

At various intervals during the 90 minutes Ronaldo held up five fingers in view of the Los Colchoneros support, to further emphasise his superiority in Europe's premier club competition.

Only six-time winner Paco Gento has won the trophy more times than the ex-Sporting forward.

Ronaldo also has the most goals in the competition's history, with 121, ahead of arch-rival Lionel Messi.

Nevertheless, his exploits after the game could not distract from a damaging night for Massimiliano Allegri, though the Bianconeri coach remains hopeful of a second leg comeback.

"Now there is disappointment, but we must believe that we can overturn it,” said the Italian

“It will not be easy, it will take a great game, in which we will have to be good at moving the game more.

"Remaining orderly, which we did not do tonight, even after suffering the second goal, which in fact left us risking more. However, the 2-0 can be overturned, it is useless to cry on it.” <<Read More>> https://isportng.com/2019/02/21/ronaldo-5-atletico-madrid-0-juventus-star-comes-out-fighting-despite-loss/
