Thanks for the insight. Wishing you all the best. snoopy: Congratulations. However, Your visa category is hardly denied at the embassy because prior to your interview, USCIS would have already done all due diligence before approving your form i-797 petition which is the basis for scheduling your visa interview. That is why its the first thing they asked you aside your passport. So the embassy interview is mostly a formality and just to confirm your documents and issue the visa for you to travel thats why it wasnt a problem approving your wife immediately as theres nothing that warrants the delay. My wife and I likewise got our H-1B and H4 last year August. Its different from a visitors visa or student visa where all due diligence is done and decision taken right there at the embassy. Around 90% of people who went before us in these other categories were denied and at a point, even while we knew we would get it, other peoples experiences ignited a subtle anxiety. But we thank God sha. Congratulations again. |

Thanks so much. Equally appreciate enlightened fellas on this platform about H1B Visa. Wishing you same in your endeavours. ttmacoy: Congratulations but you should take into consideration that applying for a H1b visa is very different from applying for a visit visa or student visa which majority of Nigerians on this site are applying for.
As someone who has gone through the L1b process I know for a fact that for H1b, you’ve already gone through multiple steps before you get to the visa application stage at the embassy, and if your company is an established company which I’m sure it is they also have immigration lawyers involved.
For a H1b visa by the time you’re applying for the visa your case is very straightforward unless there are issues that come up.
Also for a H1b visa you don’t have to prove ties to your country because a H1b visa has immigration intent unlike a visit visa where you have to show ties to your country and prove that you plan to come back after your visit.
For a visit visa the first contact with US immigration authorities is when you apply for the visa at the embassy but for H1b there are multiple steps before the embassy stage where you’ve been vetted including being picked in the H1b lottery etc before you get to the final step of applying for the visa at the embassy.
Anyway good luck with the move and hope everything works out. |

Congratulations!!! It'll be communicated to you within two weeks you should get it. Nikkygold4life: Congratulations on your issued visa. Please I want to find out how long it took the embassy to issue you a visa because I also applied for the same h1B visa last week Tuesday with my wife and son both on H4. To my surprise their visas were issued the same week, last Thursday and Friday. This prompted me to check the status of mine which indicated APPROVED waiting to be issued 9 days after the interview. Please may I know if you have similar experience or yours was issued early? Thanks. |

Thank you!!! Ahh... That's long story, but be brief. My story. I was referred for the job by someone on Facebook who requested my CV, then the company submitted for the H1B lottery last year, I was selected from the lottery by USCIS. The company filled and do the processes without paying a dime. Then I applied for the Visa with the approved i797. This is my first time applying to US. gateleo: Congratulations 🎊 👏..Please can you take us through the process of getting H1B from start to finish |

Thanks! Thanks!! Thanks!!! I don't think H4 can work immediately. S/he will need Employment Authorization approval before they can work. I will read the thread. Taal17: Congrats Especially that you could get your wife's application done as well. Fortunately I think H4 visa holders can work
There's a living in the US thread on nairaland as well .
It's a new land so lots to learn and adapt to.
Trust God to find you your community. Remember H1B is still temporary so both of you should plan for more permanent employment visas if you I tend to stay in the USA. |

Consular: Where will you be working Me: I mentioned my Work place in the US
Consular: Are you traveling alone Me: No, I'm traveling with my wife
Consular: Why don't you apply for her. Me: I explained to her the bank couldn't processed my wife's visa fee payment on time, so she couldn't get appointment. She then asked me where's my wife, I told her, she's outside the premises.
Consular: ( she looked around, and after sometime, wrote in a paper to bring in my wife)
I brought her to the consular. My wife and I passport were collected. We're issued H1B & H4 Visa respectively.
