Jeff Bezos Is Now The World’s Second Richest Person

I hope you know Jeff Bezos? If not, now is the time to know him. Everyone knows the world’s richest person is Bill Gates. He’s held the top position for 18 of the past 23 years, and that doesn’t look like it will change for the foreseeable future. However, below Gates the rankings have changed, and another giant of the tech industry moved into second place this week.

According to Bloomberg, Amazon founder and pilot of giant mecha Jeff Bezos unseated Warren Buffett on Wednesday and moved into second place. This is as a result of Amazon’s share price rising to $18.32, which added $1.5 billion to Bezos’s fortune, taking his total to $75.6 billion. Buffett currently sits at $74.9 billion. That’s close enough for the positions to switch again, but Buffett has lost a few billion recently while Bezos continues to rise, adding $10.2 billion to his worth this year alone.

Jeff Bezos is now “only” $10.4 billion behind Bill Gates, so the next question to ask is, will he eventually unseat Gates?. Get the full gist here:

FIFA, the world governing-body for soccer, has just awarded Kwesé Sports the exclusive free-to-air rights to broadcast the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2018 tournament in sub-Saharan Africa (except South Africa).
Kwese Sports will broadcast the World Cup exclusively for FREE in over 40 countries, at the same time. This has never happened before in African history. This is why this is such a big deal for us, and for Africa!

Kwesé Sports will broadcast the finals for free in English, French and Portuguese.



He promised that Kwese Sports will probably broadcast the final itself to over 250m viewers across Africa for free!

and they’ve also secured Pay-TV rights (except South Africa) and will broadcast all matches on our other channels on the decoder and also on the Kwese Mobile App.

Every single game will be broadcast, but some will be only available on the decoder and Kwesé App, Mr Strive Masiyiwa said.

These particular rights will be shared with another broadcaster. It is the first time two broadcasters have shared the Pay-TV rights.

It all kicks off at the FIFA Confederations Cup this June and July in Russia, where Africa will be represented by Africa Cup of Nations winner, Cameroon.

New Jersey pastor Trevon Gross and coder Yuri Lebedev have been convicted and face 20 years in prison for their roles in Coin.Mx, an illegal bitcoin exchange. The two allegedly helped launder bitcoins used in darknet purchases and ransomware scams by disguising them as legitimate cash transactions.

Lebedev, Anthony Murgio and co-conspirators allowed coin.mx customers to exchange cash for bitcoins and charged a fee for the service, according to the indictment filed in the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York. Between October 2013 and July 2015, Coin.mix exchanged millions of dollars for bitcoins.
Defendants Disguised Transactions

The conspirators allegedly disguised transactions by operating through front companies, including “Collectables Club,” and maintaining phony websites. The accounts in these companies actually functioned as operating accounts for the illegal Coin.mx bitcoin exchange business.

A Polish couple has been arrested in Portugal for selling drugs for bitcoins, according to Portuguese website Pplware. This is believed to be the first-ever bitcoin apprehension in the country, even though cryptocurrencies are relatively popular in Portugal – so much so, there’s a crypto version of pre-euro national currency, called cryptoescudo.

The couple was arrested for running a synthetic drug lab in the municipality of Lourinhã, where they produced pills they would then sell throughout the world. The couple, aged 40 and 34, had been under investigation since the end of 2016 but was only now arrested by the Judicial Police (Policia Judiciária), a criminal investigation agency in the country.

The couple sold the drugs online and then shipped them via regular mail once a buyer ordered them. They got paid in bitcoin and, as such, it took authorities longer to be able to catch them.
