This may not be the best time for me to write on this because of MISINTERPRETATIONS,but i can no longer resist the push.
Husband scarcity has become one of the challenges faced by many ladies today. If you go to prayer houses,majority of the intentions are prayer for a life partner,and this calls for concern.Casting our mind back to the time of our mothers and grandmothers was there really much of a husband scarcity problem?
Or maybe there was more men than women then,or there was an adequate corresponding numbers of both genders,i dont think so. Maybe then the women have values and were prepared to build a home and not to park into a well built home.
Ask an average girl to define her dream husband you get things like he has to be tall,handsome,fair,and rich,own a house work in an oil company and be presentable,and then she add God fearing in order not to be worldly, then check the number of girls around you and the number of men that met that standard,and you will see the problem.
You will hear them saying i cannot suffer in my father house and then go and start suffering in a man house,sister if you have a good work can you suffer,even if you are not a graduate what about hand work, and you know that the guy has a future, why can't you build it with him and make him your dream man.
What if from the beginning you have everything that you want and later in the marriage the table turns around will you run away,no one pray for suffering
When 50ladies want the same kind of man,and the man that fits what they want is just 1,what becomes of 49 others.
Pick up the right value,am not saying that you should pick anyone that comes your way and talk of marriage not all men are husband materials,what am saying is that you should stop setting your standard on materials acquisitions look beyond the physical.

Workers in Kogi State have asked Governor Yahaya Bello to disclose where their salaries are.

Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Onu Edoka, spoke on behalf of the workers on Friday at an event to mark the 40th anniversary of the union in the country.
Workers in Kogi were paid 60 per cent of five months’ salary arrears last December and had yet to be paid January salaries.

Edoka, in a keynote address said, “Your Excellency, workers said I should ask you where our salaries are. As obedient servants, we are dying. As people who have contributed their quota in the development of the state and have left service, we are dying.

“To this end, we wish to compassionately appeal to you. We are aware that allocation came to Kogi State last month and by the statement of the Commissioner for Finance, what came as allocation to the state was put at N4.3bn while local governments got N3.8bn. But up until this moment, no salary has been paid in Kogi. Let our own not drop into River Niger again (sic).”


Edoka equally used the forum to speak on the alleged premature retirement of some workers, proscription of labour unions and the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by medical doctors in the state.

He said, “You will agree with me that appointment in this government has been upside down in the sense that junior workers are placed above seniors.

“Medical doctors in Kogi have been on strike for over one month. Mothers, children are dying at home. For this obvious fact, we appeal to the state government to call our doctors to a meeting and bring this mater to an end.

“Why the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have not joined the strike is because we have come to the realisation that strike may not be the solution to our problems any more. It is all about the person who is the chief executive and his state of mind on the development and welfare of workers.

“The proscription of unions in Kogi is completely detrimental to the progress of democracy, unacceptable to the Nigeria Labour Congress and completely illegal, and we shall not stand by it.
We will speak for the voiceless and the same voice will still speak again. We shall resist it with the last drop of our blood to see that we will not be tamed in any form or turned beggars in our state.”

In his response, Bello said that the ongoing fight against corruption across the country would achieve greater success if organised labour strengthened itself and worked with the government to fish out corrupt officials.

Bello urged the NLC to fight for the welfare of Nigerian workers and play the role of whistle-blower to assist government in bringing corrupt officials to justice.

The governor, who was represented at the occasion by his deputy, Simon Achuba, congratulated labour on its 40th anniversary and enjoined its leadership to always stand for what is good for workers and the country.

A team from Kogi State, led by the Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Jacob Tolorunleke, is in Kaduna State to understudy the competency test recently conducted for primary school teachers in the state.
Tolorunleke told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna on Monday, that the move was to improve the standard of education in Kogi State.
The team comprised the Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Education, Science and Technology, Moses Abara, and the Chairman Kogi State Teaching Service Commission Afolabi Joseph-Baji.
It includes Oshatimehin Deborah, the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board in Kogi State.
According to the commissioner, they are in the state to get all the necessary information needed, and to be guided appropriately on how to conduct a successful and credible competency test for teachers in Kogi State.
Tolorunleke said stakeholders had been discussing on ways to address the rot in the state’s education sector, particularly the quality of teachers.
He said: “It was based on these discussions that the state’s executive council directed that I lead a delegation to Kaduna State to understudy the processes involved in carrying out a competency test for teachers.
“This is because addressing the rot in the education sector has been a lingering issue for us in Kogi State.
“Kaduna state has just provided an example for us to follow in achieving our mission and vision in the education sector.’’
Tolorunleke explained that after the study, the team would come up with recommendations, after which relevant stakeholders would be consulted on the way forward.
He commended the Kaduna State Government for takin the bull by the horn in addressing the dearth of quality teachers in its primary schools.
He said: “This is because any state that failed to address the issue of quality education at basic level would not achieve much in secondary and tertiary schools.
“We had a fruitful discussion with the Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, as well as the Executive Chairman of SUBEB in the state, Nasir Umar.
“They have given us the needed attention, they took us step by step through the processes and provided us with all the document we need to carry out a successful competency test in Kogi state.’’
Umar expressed joy over the visit, adding that the board was ready to partner with any state or organisation in improving the standard of eduction.
He said: “Our doors are open for any state willing to partner, support or learn from us.’’
NAN recalls that the Kaduna State Government had in June conducted competency test for 33,000 primary school teachers, while 21,780 failed.

The Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye, has admitted that he and the political elite have failed Nigeria and her teeming youths.
Melaye stated this while speaking at The Osasu Show Symposium in Abuja in Friday,.
The lawmaker said politics being played by the elite, was responsible for poverty and hunger in Nigeria, and both ills have no political party.
Melaye, who spoke as one of the panelists at the symposium themed “The new economy and its impact on less priviledge citizens”, said government must build public trust to curb societal ills.
“When you speak the truth, you die, when you lie, you die; so it is better to speak the truth and die. I may sound very unpopular but I will speak the truth. Apart from militocracy, politics is responsible for poverty and hunger in Nigeria,” Melaye said.
“Unfortunately, we the leaders, myself inclusive, have failed this nation and have failed the younger generation, myself inclusive. The reason why we are where we are today is beacuse there is a disconnect between leadership and followership.

“As I speak to you, the problem why we are where we are is because of trust. There is no trust between the governed and those governing.

“Once there is no trust between the followership and the leadership, it will definitely have a negative concomitant effect on the economy, and every other facet of our national life.”

“Hunger and poverty have no political party, hunger and poverty have no religion. To have brought people to discuss on the line of APC or PDP is not correct, because the poor PDP man and the poor APC man all go to the same market.

“What we should fix is democracy; Democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people. What we have is greediocracy; government of the greedy by the greedy, for the greedy.

An officer of the Nigeria Customs Service , Baba Nwaguyawo , has been crushed to death while attempting to stop a convoy of the Nigerian Army at the Agbara end of the Lagos - Badagry Expressway on Friday .
The convoy was reportedly used as a diversion to smuggle some cars into the country .
Operatives of the NCS at the Agbara checkpoint had attempted stopping the convoy for a routine search when a Nigerian Army van piloting the fleet killed Nwaguyawo .
Our correspondent gathered that the deceased , with service number 53225, was until his death an anti - smuggling operative of the Federal Operations Unit , Zone A , Ikeja , Lagos .
It was learnt that the four vehicles , suspected to be smuggled under the guise of Army convoy , were two units of Mercedez Benz Sports Utility Vehicle ML 350 , one Toyota Venza, and a Mercedez Saloon car .
A source said , “ The incident happened on Friday . Actually , three joint units of customs, including the NCS , Seme , Customs Intelligence Unit and Federal Operations Unit , were set to intercept the vehicles which were being piloted by a team of military men , led by Captain A .M. Murnai with Force No . 45 EB / 15 FER with Army operation vehicle no . NA 2021 B 05 .
“ Each of the smuggled cars had two soldiers in uniforms inside, as an act of subterfuge and deception , with Captain Murnai inside the piloting van .
“ At the point of stop- and- search , the military men resisted and forced their way through , knocking down the deceased in order to pave way for the smuggled vehicles to escape . Two of the smuggled vehicles crushed the customs officer simultaneously .”
Our correspondent learnt that the victim ’s remains were deposited in the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital mortuary , Ikeja .
Some of the culprits , who were arrested together with their official vehicle , were detained .
They were later moved to the Ibereko Barracks, Badagry, on the instruction of the Commanding Officer , Ibereko Barracks, for further interrogation .
The Public Relations Officer of the NCS , Mr . Attah , confirmed the incident.
He said , “ It is true that we lost an officer in that unfortunate incident . Investigations are ongoing by the Army and the NCS authorities. ”
The spokesman for the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Lt . Col. Olaolu Daudu, said the mattJosepher was being investigated.
” I am in Badagry now to investigate the matter , ” he said .
Our correspondent learnt on Sunday that officers of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army and the FOU, Ikeja , were in a joint meeting over the incident .
