InvestmentRe: The Rich Don’t Just Buy Assets — They Buy Assets That Produce More Assets by lumiaro(f): 2:55am On Apr 07
Sounds good in theory, but not every “income-generating asset” is actually easy to manage. A lot depends on execution, not just the idea.
EducationRe: What If You Can’t Afford University At All… What Are Your Real Options? by lumiaro(f): 2:52am On Apr 07
Honestly, I think learning a practical skill first makes a lot of sense. University is good, but without money it can just become a burden. If you can start earning and gain experience, you’ll have more options later.
CareerRe: Tattooed Lady Says She Can’t Get A Job Because Of Her Appearance (Photo) by lumiaro(f): 2:48am On Apr 07
Honestly, employers should focus more on what a person can do rather than just appearance. First impressions matter, but skills and attitude should count more in the long run.
EducationRe: Apps For Learning Foreign Languages by lumiaro(f): 12:38pm On Dec 21, 2025
Nice roundup — I like that you didn’t just list apps but also pointed out what each one is actually good (and not so good) at. One thing I learned the hard way is that “an app” rarely covers everything, so it helps to pick based on your goal: vocab/grammar vs real speaking.

If someone is moving to the EU soon, I’d personally suggest a simple mix: keep one structured app (Duolingo https://www.duolingo.com or Busuu https://www.busuu.com / Babbel https://www.babbel.com) for daily consistency, and add something that forces real output. Tandem https://www.tandem.net is great for chatting, but even better if you set a routine (e.g., 10 mins voice notes, 10 mins corrections).

For integrated practice (listening/reading/writing/speaking in one place), another option people can try is Avatalks https://avatalks.com — not a replacement for real conversations, but useful when you want short practice blocks without jumping between 4 different apps.

Curious what language most people here are learning for EU plans (German, French, Dutch, etc.) and what finally made it “click”.
EducationRe: Study In Canada (quebec) For Only $3,000 Tuition by lumiaro(f): 6:31am On Dec 18, 2025
I saw this thread about the Quebec tuition drop and it’s interesting because Canada really can be expensive for international students, so anything that makes it more affordable is worth paying attention to. The deal mentioned here seems tied to Quebec’s plan to reduce fees in some less populated regions if you study in French — which makes sense since they’re trying to attract people there.

One thing I’d personally watch out for is the language requirement — studying in French when you’re not fluent can be tough, especially when writing exams or following lectures, so it’s good some people here already raised that.

Also, it helped me in the past to check directly with the school about their French level requirement and support options, because not every program is the same. If someone’s serious about going this route, building a plan to get to at least B1/B2 in French first seems like a realistic step.
EducationRe: Dream Big, Start Small, Grow Fast. by lumiaro(f): 6:29am On Dec 18, 2025
I like the idea behind “Dream Big, Start Small, Grow Fast.” For me the part that sticks is how important starting small really is — I’ve had big ideas before but felt stuck because I wanted everything perfect from day one. What helped me most was breaking things into tiny actionable steps and celebrating the small wins, even if they seem insignificant. Over time those little steps really add up and give you confidence to take on bigger challenges. That approach might not be flashy, but it’s something I personally saw work for me when I was building my own skills.
