Real hunger is coming to the world cup to beat Argentina.. we've suffered emotionally and psychologically in their palms. Even if we are two goals up against them, I'm still not sold on us seeing it through....
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by M7eve: 8:42pm On Jul 07
Gbam. Exactly. I'm praying to see us take a 2 goal lead against Argentina our Boogeyman at the world cup.... Bro, Argentina has continuously dealt with us , so if we take for once beat them in a WC that's great . And If we take a two goal lead against them, bro, up until the final whistle I'm still not believing we will beat them. So that's just the point. Let's take a two goal lead against Portugal even as terrible as they were in this word cup or even Spain. So long as it is not 90 minutes I'm not trusting the players on that. It's as simple as that. Because it is a rare deal to find ourselves in that position at first. And that a big deal to see it through

I'm praying it happens we take a 2-0 lead against a world top 15 team and still hold on to win the game, cos since I was born and now I am getting old I have never seen a super eagles team take a commanding 2-0 lead and hold on to winning it.
The one I watched was coming from behind to win Spain 3-2(anyways that's a big one too shaa)

Im saying play often at that level and you will know it can happen. Argentina was leading France by 2 goals at the last world cup finals as well. And France came back. When you begin to brag on Bosnia, it's like you aren't hungry . But then that's your choice too.

Dannyxy:
Nigeria will not bottle a 2 goal lead, it’s your choice to feel it will happen, it’s my choice to say it it will not happen…

Bosnia was a solid team 2014, Iceland were solid 2018, Spain, Bulgaria, even with one goal we won.

And because In a qualifier we bottle 4-4 Central African Republic we will will bottle In world, just see talk, how does that make sense, like we didn’t play end reach finals and semi Final of Afcon with top teams just after that.

Some kind talk sef

Against Tunisia.... Tunisia for that matter isn't painful enough.

Goke7:
Did we lose?

Honestly football is a crazy game. I could understand the disappointments of the Egyptian side today. It reminded one of US 94 Nigeria vs Italy game. Egypt was in a unfamiliar territory, first round 16 game. Against the defending champion with a two goal lead. Then add that to the cramp injury their lifeline on the wings got. This jcollapsed them totally. Salah did his best. And its easier to say you can't give up a two goal lead

Fans like to fantasize a lot. It's not their fault.. How much different in quality is this current Nigerian team when compared with Senegal and Egypt...

minsfelix2:
🤣🤣
We watched this movie against Zimbabwe and against DRC😄😄

Because it has not happened to you doesn't mean it can't happen. How many times has Nigeria played in the knockout stages of the world cup with a 2 goal lead against formidable opponents... I'm not talking Iceland

Dannyxy:
Nigeria no go bottle 2-0 in world cup, that one na lie.

It’s not in our mentality at all

They can score us, and we equalize, they score again, but to bottle two goal at 80 minutes, even Argentina no reach, insult Nigerian all you want, e no go happen.

The state govt. of Uyo have been crying about the high cost of maintenance of this stadium. I really wonder how much the state government budgets for this that they feel can be utilized else where. If they do hand over the contract to maintain the stadium to another company I wonder how that will work out. Plus I believe the government gets good revenue from football tourism
cos on every matchdays hotels will be bóoked. As well as other social incentives, before the end of the year the SE might play three times there.

minfelix:
NSC/NFF/Federal Government should give us atleast 3/4 Uyos across the federation so we can host tournaments
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by M7eve: 7:50pm On Jul 06
We can always build . But then we have a poor maintenance culture. I remember abuja was bidding to host common wealth games. I wonder what came out of that. I guess we lost the bid. And frankly speaking I wasn't surprised about that.
NasirIbnLaAhad:
What have we ever hosted besides youth tournaments in the past 20 years? And it honestly boggles my mind how some of you keep glossing over the fact that FIFA's hosting bar has risen sharply since Nigeria's biggest tournaments (2009 U-17 World Cup, for instance). Recent bids have shown the scale now expected. How many FIFA accredited stadiums does Nigeria have today? Just one, and that's the one in Uyo. Or you think Uyo alone can host an entire CHAN tournament, not to talk of AFCON? Citing past hosting experience without accounting for that gap in scale is comparing apples to oranges.

Anyway, my main focus was your framing of media as the problem of Nigeria hosting. Arguing that the media is ruining our hosting prospects is only tenable for image problems, not for engineering and logistical ones. FIFA and CAF inspectors don't file match reports off public sentiments. They will physically walk through your stadiums and check your pitch quality, floodlights, changing rooms, hotel capacity, road networks, airport logistics etc etc. If the infrastructure fails, no amount of "good PR" changes what an inspector notes down about your facilities.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by M7eve: 7:44pm On Jul 06
Baba, we can't host today again. The last time we hosted a tournament of significance was the 2009 FIFA world cup. You know the most spectacular reason for that , it was the year Boko Haram was just starting in Nigeria, the following year, they carried out their first bombing in Nigeria, and ever since them insecurity has been entrenched in our society.

The media and the people will always cry. Even Mexico had logistics problem up till a couple of weeks before world cup. Morocco had a protest before they hosted the last African cup where the citizens complained about economic hardship. So for media complaining it is quite normal. But with insecurity it is totally different
Goke7:
Truth is we can host as our insecurity now is mostly in rural areas and not in cities that will host the matches.

The major issue is the media and how we project ourselves as a country. Many will also argue it’s a waste of public funds when many are hungry
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by M7eve: 11:25pm On Jul 05
European Leagues will return. The world cup has rather helped in filling the void.

9JAMac10:
This World Cup has been incredible. The post-World Cup withdrawal is going to hit so hard
