how do you let a phone without ip rating stay inside water for up to 15 seconds and expect it to be okay, haba, lots of phones do spoil just cos of rain falling on the user and even most apple phones with ip ratings get spoiled while the users go for a swim.. so don't blame xiaomi, rather blame yourself for wrong handling...

I don't think they're trying to make you buy a new one. They've told you the extent of the damage and the cost of repair. Get a second opinion if you want but hope you don't end up falling into the hands of someone who will make big promises they can't keep.

It's better to get a new device if the cost of repair is more than 30k. I think 20k sef is a lot, considering the cost of the device itself.

Jboixx.x has the same device, brand new for 70k. My advice would be to get a new device and scrap the present one for parts.

Fact is that i took my RN8 to Raya service centre and was told to pay 62k that the screen and panel are bad,the que now is ,is it advisable to pay that amount or just add it 13k and buy a new one for 75k or look for a good phone engineer in abuja that can fix the phone's screen and panel for less than that 62k?

Things you don't do when your phone encounters water.

1. Charge

2. Turn it on when it haven't been dried properly.

The first DIY(Do It Yourself) is put the phone into rice and leave it for at least two days.
After then turn on, if it misbehaves then take it to a repairer to open and clean the phone for any leftover water.

Or You take it to a repairer immediately after the incident for proper cleaning and drying up.
