The Igbo Women Assembly, a pressure group, has vowed to drag the Lagos government to court over its legislation for the exclusive teaching of the Yoruba language in state-owned schools.

IWA national president Nneka Chimezie disclosed this at a news briefing in Umuahia on Thursday.

IWA is affiliated with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation.

Ms Chimezie said the group was worried over such legislation in a cosmopolitan state as Lagos.

According to her, such a law is improper because the government knows Lagos harbours many other tribes.

“They should make it open: Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba – should be taught,” she said.

The IWA president, however, hailed the Yoruba for preserving their language.

She called on the Igbo sons and daughters to join IWA in the campaign to stop the Igbo language from going into extinction.

She said the group would organise an event to celebrate the Igbo Language on February 21 to commemorate the United Nation’s Mother Tongue Day.

Ms Chimezie said the event, which would be held in Umuahia, would bring together many prominent sons and daughters of Igboland to discuss the way forward for the language.

“We are coming together to talk about our language, rub minds to see how we can stop our language from going into extinction.

“We are going to have a roundtable, after which we will come up with a communique,” the IWA president said.

She called on Governor Charles Soludo to checkmate the activities of Agunechemba – a vigilance group and stop the extra-judicial killings in Anambra.

“When they make arrests, they should hand the suspects over to the police for proper investigation and prosecution rather than killing them.

“Agunechemba has no right to arrest and kill, and there have been too much blood-letting and killing of our youths in the South-East,” Ms Chimezie said.

Let keep the fingers across. I see no sense in Zelensky prolonging the war when he has lost close to 25% of Ukraine land mass to Russia. They're about to he landlocked and yet you too by prolonging the war Russia will be weak.

Selling cheap fuel to India is a win win situation to Russia because the same Western countries are the one buying the same product from India.

Can't you see that this has forced Russia to pump more oil and sale it cheap to India and China? Cheaper energy means cheaper cost of production for these countries and therefore cheaper goods. Where are all these manufactured goods heading to?

Even the China you mentioned has 80% of their wealth stored in dollars. They can't even afford the risk of saling weapons to Russia. They understand the game.

If they sale their weapons to Russia or involve in the war, their assets will be frozen. That is why they have refused to take the bait and forfeit the debt the USA owes them.

3. Eastern Ukraine is like the Lagos and Niger Delta of Ukraine. Russia has taken it away from Ukraine.
4. Ukraine has lost 80 percent of its sea access to the black sea meaning that Ukraine is almost transforming from a coastal sea powerhouse in 2021 to a landlocked country in 2025.
5. 60 percent of the mineral resources in Ukraine is now in the hands of Russia.
6. Nearly 1 million Ukrainans have lost their lives.

Russia, despite its size and its acclaimed supposed stupendous military might, has been struggling to subdue Ukraine since 2022—an embarrassing display of failure. But even that doesn't compare to Nigeria’s historical incompetence. Backed by global superpowers like the Soviet Union, Britain, and Egypt, Nigeria still couldn't achieve anything meaningful on the battlefield against a blockaded Biafra. Instead, its only "victory" was the mass starvation of innocent women and children. Both Russia and Nigeria seem to be nothing more than oversized burdens to their respective continents—offering nothing but chaos, stagnation, and disgrace.


Both countries are just endowed with oil and gas and a pile of densely dumbest idiots in power. Thank God Ukraine cut Russia into size. Russia will think very very carefully before invading another country.
