What I understand about Vazk it's a free to list items and you don't need to link a social media account.

Please kindly enlighten me about the website if you have ever used the website to purchase an items.

Okay, thank you...

Please do you know any other alternative platforms to purchase items and are you aware of a website name Vazk?

Goodealz:
meet the seller physically to see and examine what you're paying for, also confirm account details from the seller before making any payment

Goodealz:
does that actually make 95% of Jiji vendors scammers based on just a single experience?

I don't think it's 95%. I've seen people on this thread say they've bought cars and phones successfully. And the person who sold multiple times said they've been scammed as a seller too. So it's not one-sided.

My issue isn't that most sellers are scammers. My issue is that I can't tell which ones are. That's why I'm asking for systems. If I had a checklist and a process, I'd feel more confident buying. Right now, I just avoid it entirely, which doesn't help me either.

So for those who have bought successfully: what's the one thing you always do that has saved you from a bad deal?

Meeting near a police station is smart. I hadn't thought of that.

Once you're there and you meet the seller, what do you actually check before paying? For a phone, do you check the IMEI? For a laptop, do you check the serial number? For a car, do you ask for customs papers or proof of ownership?

I'm trying to build a checklist so I don't freeze up when I'm standing there. Any specific things you always verify?

I appreciate this perspective. Especially the part about negotiating online but meeting physically to finalise.

My problem is that I've never actually completed a purchase on Jiji. I always get to the point of messaging, then I back out because I don't know how to verify the person on the other end. The "meet in person" advice is good, but it assumes the seller is willing to meet. And many aren't.

For those who have bought successfully: how do you handle the ones who insist on payment before meeting? Do you just skip them entirely? Or is there a middle ground?

I’ve used Jiji to look at items before. I’ve seen things I was interested in. But I’ve never actually completed a purchase. Every time I get close, I stop. The reason is simple: I don’t know who I’m dealing with.

Maybe I’m too cautious. Maybe I’ve read too many stories. But here’s what goes through my head when I find something I like.

Is this seller real? The profile has a name. Sometimes a photo.

What happens after I pay? If I send money and the item never arrives, what’s my recourse?

I know Jiji has safety tips. I know they say don’t pay before inspecting. But that only works if the seller agrees to meet. And many don’t. They want a transfer first, or a “commitment fee,” or a deposit to “hold” the item. If I refuse, they move on to someone who will pay.

I’m not saying all sellers are bad. I’ve seen people say they’ve bought cars, phones, even generators on Jiji without issues. I believe them. But I don’t know how to tell the difference between the seller who delivers and the seller who disappears.

So my question is for people who actually buy on Jiji:

How do you verify a seller before sending money?

What red flags make you walk away?

Have you ever been scammed, and what did you learn from it?

Is there a way to buy safely, or is it just a gamble every time?
