PoliticsMark Ogah: The Undefeated Spirit & Ultimate Political Catalyst by MamaCocoa(op):
MARK OGAH: THE UNDEFEATED SPIRIT & ULTIMATE POLITICAL CATALYST

Written by
Baba Ojonugwa Jfo

On Saturday I was in Abuja & watched the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League Final with Chief Ogah Mark the Kogi state City boy director who was also a house of representatives aspirant in the last All progressive Congress (APC) primaries, we watched the match in the company of some distinguished political heavyweights in the federal capital territory Abuja & it got me thinking, Mark Ogah is a big name in the north central political chess game.

You see in the grand theater of politics, some people pack up their bags and go home the moment the script doesn’t go their way. But that is not Mark Okpanachi Ogah.

When the House of Representatives primaries didn’t swing his way, Mark didn’t throw a pity party—he threw a strategy session. Instead of retreat, he chose re-fire. Proving that you don't need a legislative seat to be a powerhouse, he stepped squarely into his role as the Kogi State Director of the City Boy Movement and a political force multiplier.

They say true leadership isn’t tested when you win; it’s tested when the deck is reshuffled. Mark didn't just stay in the game—he elevated it. Armed with unshakeable optimism, infectious energy, and a treasury of personal resources, he turned what could have been a setback into a legendary comeback.

As the commander-in-chief of the City Boy Movement in Kogi, Mark didn’t just support the All Progressives Congress (APC)—he practically electrified the campaign trail.
From the bustling streets of Lokoja to the grassroots, he is strategically galavanting and rallying the troops.

While others were counting their losses, Mark was counting down the days to victory, pouring his time, wealth, and unmatched charisma into ensuring the party's structure remained unbreakable.

For Mark, the big picture has always been bigger than any individual ambition. His sights have been locked onto a singular, roaring objective: a clean sweep at the polls for the APC.

With his unwavering loyalty anchored to the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the national level and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo at the state helm, Mark has redefined what it means to be a party loyalist. He recognizes that true progress is a team sport, and right now, he is playing like the MVP of the midfield—setting up the perfect assists for a historic victory.

You can take the man out of the ballot, but you can’t take the leadership out of the man. Mark Okpanachi Ogah is living proof that a title doesn't make the leader—the hustle, the loyalty, and the heart do. Keep your eyes on him; the primaries were just a warm-up.

The real movement is just getting started & many of us align & stand with him on this journey.

APC REPS PRIMARY: MARK OGAH SEEKS CREDIBLE WARD-BY-WARD EXERCISE, SAYS GRASSROOTS VOICES MUST PREVAIL

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election in Kogi State scheduled for Saturday, May 16, Hon. Mark Ogah Okpanachi, leading aspirant for the Idah Federal Constituency and Director of the City Boy Movement Kogi Chapter, has called for a transparent, peaceful and credible exercise capable of preserving the confidence of party members and strengthening internal democracy within the APC.

Hon. Okpanachi emphasized that the primary election, according to the approved guidelines and arrangements already communicated to party members, is expected to hold across every ward in the constituency and not in selected locations. He therefore urged INEC, party officials, security agencies and all stakeholders connected to the exercise to ensure full compliance with the laid down procedures governing the conduct of the election.

He maintained that strict adherence to the ward-based voting process remains critical to guaranteeing fairness, credibility and equal participation for party members across the grassroots, adding that any deviation from the established procedure could undermine public confidence in the integrity of the exercise

The call follows reports confirming the distribution of election materials across various parts of the state, including the Idah Federal Constituency comprising Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu and Ofu Local Government Areas.

He maintained that the credibility of the process remains more important than the outcome, noting that party members across the grassroots deserve the opportunity to freely determine who emerges as their preferred candidate without pressure, interference or imposed arrangements.

According to him, moments such as this define the strength of democratic culture within political parties and shape public confidence in leadership institutions.

Hon. Ogah further expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the party structure in Kogi State to ensure an atmosphere where fairness, orderliness and transparency prevail throughout the exercise.

He observed that the growing enthusiasm among party faithful ahead of the primary reflects the desire of the people to participate in a process they can genuinely trust.

“Democracy retains its meaning when the people are allowed to make decisions freely and transparently. The voices at the grassroots must remain the foundation upon which leadership emerges,” he stated.

He added that the APC in Kogi State has continued to command public support because of its progressive identity and its connection with the aspirations of ordinary people, insisting that tomorrow’s exercise presents another opportunity to reinforce that confidence.

As anticipation builds across the state, attention remains fixed on the conduct of the primary election, with many party members hoping the process will reflect fairness, credibility and respect for the collective will of the people.

Ogah Mark Okpanachi Calls on Governor Ododo, INEC to Ensure Free and Fair APC Primaries in Idah Federal Constituency.

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election scheduled for May 15, 2026, APC aspirant for Idah Federal Constituency, Ogah Mark Okpanachi, has called on the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and party leadership to ensure a free, fair, and transparent primary election process.

Ogah, who is also the Director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Kogi State Chapter, said the APC must allow delegates and party faithful to freely choose a candidate they are confident can unite the party and win the 2027 general election and providing quality representation for the people of Idah Federal Constituency.

According to him, internal democracy remains the foundation of every credible political party, stressing that the era of political imposition and backdoor arrangements must be discouraged in the overall interest of the APC and the future of the constituency.

He maintained that the forthcoming primary election should be determined by the will of the people, competence, popularity, grassroots acceptance, and proven capacity to deliver effective leadership, rather than external influence or manipulation.

He also urged his supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the process, while reaffirming his commitment to internal democracy, quality representation, and the overall progress of Idah Federal Constituency.

Ogah further appealed to Governor Ododo to uphold fairness and provide a level playing ground for all aspirants, noting that allowing delegates to make their choices freely would strengthen the confidence of party members and supporters across the constituency.

The APC aspirant expressed confidence in his acceptance across the grassroots and reiterated his commitment to peaceful participation in the primary process. He also urged his supporters to remain calm, law-abiding, and avoid violence before, during, and after the exercise.

Ogah Mark Okpanachi stated that the people of Idah Federal Constituency deserve credible leadership, effective representation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, insisting that only a transparent democratic process can produce a candidate the people truly trust and believe in ahead of 2027.

Kogi City Boy Movement Honour Governor Ododo as Patron, Secure Full Backing for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

Political mobilisation gained fresh momentum in Lokoja on Wednesday as the Kogi State chapter of the City Boy Movement held a strategic engagement with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, culminating in the conferment of the title of Patron of the Movement on the Governor.

Far beyond ceremonial exchanges, the meeting unfolded as a convergence of political conviction, grassroots strategy and ideological alignment around the continuity of the Renewed Hope agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Receiving members of the movement at the Government House, Governor Ododo described loyalty to President Tinubu’s vision as a natural responsibility for every progressive political structure in Kogi State, stressing that the state remains firmly connected to the aspirations and developmental direction of the current administration at the centre.

The Governor assured the delegation of his unreserved support for the movement, applauding its consistency in political mobilisation, public engagement and sustained advocacy around the achievements of both the Federal Government and the Kogi State administration.

According to him, structures built on conviction rather than convenience often endure beyond election cycles, adding that organisations committed to political education and strategic mobilisation occupy a critical place in democratic consolidation.

In his remarks, the Director of the City Boy Movement Kogi expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for creating what he described as a politically enabling atmosphere where young people and support groups can organise, engage and contribute meaningfully to governance conversations.

He noted that long before the current wave of endorsements and alignments, the movement had remained active across communities, consistently projecting the leadership philosophy of President Tinubu while equally amplifying the developmental trajectory unfolding in Kogi State under Governor Ododo.

The Director further disclosed that the movement has continued to build support networks across local governments through coordinated advocacy, grassroots sensitisation and strategic mobilisation ahead of future political engagements.

He also sought the Governor’s support towards the forthcoming inauguration of the movement in the state, including operational coordination and the provision of office accommodation to strengthen its institutional presence.

The symbolic conferment of the Patron title on Governor Ododo formed the defining moment of the engagement, reflecting the Movement’ confidence in his leadership disposition, political accessibility and unwavering alignment with the progressive ideals associated with President Tinubu.

2027: Hon. Mark Ogah, Submits House of Reps Forms, Vow People-Centered Representation Amidst Widespread Support

Hon. Mark Okpanachi Ogah has formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Idah Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), solidifying his position in the 2026 electoral race.

The submission, completed in Abuja, marks a decisive progression in his aspiration and signals the consolidation of a growing political movement across the constituency.

Addressing supporters shortly after the process, Hon. Okpanachi described the moment as a collective step forward for the people.

“This is about our shared future. It reflects the voice of our communities, our desire for stronger representation, and our determination to secure real progress for our constituency,” he said.

Earlier in the week, he had obtained the nomination forms at the Continental Hotel, Abuja, drawing widespread attention and setting the tone for what has quickly evolved into one of the most closely watched candidacies within the constituency.

Across Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela-Odolu, and Ofu, his aspiration continues to gain remarkable traction. Community leaders, youth groups, and party stakeholders are increasingly aligning around his candidacy, with many notable voices openly projecting him as the preferred choice ahead of the primaries

This acceptance is deeply rooted in his visible footprint at the grassroots. Hon. Opanachi is widely known for his direct engagement with communities, consistent support for local initiatives, and his role in mobilizing and sustaining people-centered interventions that have touched lives across the constituency. His involvement in community development efforts and empowerment drives has built a strong connection with the people, reinforcing trust and credibility.

As Director of the City Boy Movement in Kogi State, he is playing a strategic role in strengthening political participation and building a unified support base for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027, empowering young people and deepening the reach of the Renewed Hope agenda, while sustaining strong, respectful engagement with traditional institutions and grassroots community leadership.

Hon Okpanachi further commended the leadership direction of the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that the administration has continued to demonstrate purposeful governance and a steady commitment to people-focused development across Kogi State.

He also reaffirmed his alignment with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu, emphasizing that effective leadership must translate National vision into tangible grassroots impact. According to him, this synergy between state and federal direction reflects the model of responsive governance he intends to deepen at the constituency level, one that closes the gap between government and the people, while ensuring that policies are felt in everyday lives.

Stakeholders point to his accessibility, proven loyalty to party structures, and sustained presence within the constituency as key factors distinguishing him in the race. For many, his candidacy represents a practical opportunity to secure responsive and effective representation at the national level.

Reaffirming his confidence ahead of the APC primaries, Hon. Okpanachi called for unity and continued grassroots support.

“The task ahead requires collective strength. With your support and belief, we will move forward together, win together, and deliver the representation our people deserve,” he added.

With the successful submission of his nomination forms, his campaign now enters a critical phase, buoyed by widening acceptance and a clear momentum that continues to position him strongly in the race for Idah Federal Constituency.

PoliticsCbm National Leadership Harmonises Kogi Chapter, Zonal Office Ahead Of Saturday by MamaCocoa(op): 9:15pm On Apr 16
CBM NATIONAL LEADERSHIP HARMONISES KOGI CHAPTER, ZONAL OFFICE AHEAD OF SATURDAY PROGRAMME

LOKOJA, KOGI STATE –

The City Boy Movement (CBM), Kogi State Chapter, wishes to clarify matters arising between the State Directorate and the Office of the North Central Director on Contact and Mobilisation, headed by Hon Hajiya Ramatu Ibrahim, regarding her proposed empowerment programme scheduled for Saturday.

Following concerns over procedural misalignment, the National Leadership, led by Hon Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, intervened and after due consultations, a clear directive has been issued mandating harmonisation between the State structure and the Office of Contact and Mobilisation, in line with the Movement’s established hierarchy.

Consequently, it has been resolved that all issues arising from the earlier position be laid to rest, and that the empowerment programme proceeds as scheduled, having received national clearance and alignment

In compliance with this directive, and in line with the unified position of the Movement, the State Director, Hon Mark Okpanachi Ogah, through a signed Press Statement has urged all State Executives, Local Government Coordinators, Ward Leaders, and relevant stakeholders to be actively involved.

The Director emphasized that all activities relating to the programme be carried out in close coordination with the Office of Contact and Mobilisation, in the spirit of alignment as directed by the National Leadership.

This position reflects the collective resolve of the Kogi State Chapter to uphold discipline, protect institutional order, and ensure that the objectives of the Movement are delivered without disruption.

All members are therefore enjoined to act in full compliance with this directive.

Alleged Hijack: Hajiya Ramatu Called Out By Kogi City Boy Movement over Divisive Moves[img][/img]

LOKOJA, KOGI STATE –

At a high-powered emergency meeting held on Tuesday, with over two-thirds of members in attendance, the State Executive Council of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Kogi State Chapter, issued a strong rebuke at attempts by the North Central Zonal Director on Contact and Mobilization, Hon Hajiya Ramatu Ibrahim, to sidestep established leadership by organizing a programme without due consultation.

The Council emphasized that no office, irrespective of rank, can operate outside its jurisdictional framework, and consequently dissociated the Movement from the proposed programme, pending proper alignment with laid-down protocols.

Furthermore, the Council commended the intervention and directive issued to Hajiya Rahmat by the National Leadership, led by Director-General Hon. Oluwatosin Francis Shoga, which, after logistical consideration, resolved that this and any other program be discontinued under the Movement’s name, pending official State inauguration and full integration with the Kogi State structure.

The National Leadership during a meeting between the Council and Hajiya’s team last Saturday stated clearly that legality within the Movement is not a matter of sentiment but a matter of strict adherence to the chain of command.

For clarity, the Council emphasizes that while the Movement is committed to empowerment and growth, initiatives must follow proper protocol which includes formal inauguration of the State Chapter and National clearance

To act otherwise is to undermine the very discipline that defines the City Boy Movement. The Council warns that any initiative seeking to wear the identity of the Movement within Kogi State must be channeled through the State Directorate.
[img][/img]
In a profound demonstration of unity and ideological alignment, the State Executive Council passed a resounding vote of confidence in the State Director, Hon. Ogah, commending his steadfast and harmonious leadership. In a broader reaffirmation of loyalty, the Council equally passed a vote of confidence in the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in recognition of his firm commitment to administrative order and developmental strides.

A vote of confidence was also passed on the Patron of the Movement, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, whose clarity of vision continues to shape strategic direction; and on the Grand Patron, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), whose reforms continue to renew the hope of Nigerians

Without equivocation, Kogi CBM states firmly that if the intention behind any programme is sincere and people-focused, then alignment with structure should not be an obstacle or an afterthought, but a starting point. The public is therefore advised accordingly.

Kogi Education Revolution: A Systematic Overhaul for a Globally Competitive Future

Prior to 2016, access to quality education in Kogi State was plagued by inconsistencies, ranging from irregular bursary payments, inadequate infrastructure, and a struggling basic education system. Gaps included absence of a structured, technology-driven approach, which left room for inefficiencies.

A new chapter began to take shape under the visionary leadership of Yahaya Bello, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State (2016–2024). The 2nd term State Education Commissioner, who commenced his first tenure under Bello, has recently remarked that the sweeping advancements in Kogi State education sector build upon the ambitious initiatives set in motion by the previous administration, now being consolidated under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

With a firm commitment to transparency, infrastructure expansion, and digital transformation, the state is redefining its educational framework. From ensuring seamless bursary disbursements to broadening tertiary education access and fortifying school security, the Ododo administration is driving forward a legacy of strategic intervention.

In a recent media chat with Yahaya Shehu, Host of Friday Conversation on Ododo Media Center (X Space) and SSA Digital Media to the Kogi Governor, Hon. Wemi Jones, the State Commissioner for Education, provided insight into the government’s strategic interventions and future plans.

BURSARY PAYMENT: A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO TRANSPARENCY

According to the Honourable Commissioner, Kogi State has adopted a more transparent and technology-driven approach to bursary disbursement, a reform that traces back to the Yahaya Bello administration, which began the process for automation. He noted that before Bello, bursary payments were made in cash, a system that was prone to fraud and irregularities. However, under the digital governance structure initiated by the New Direction government, an online platform was introduced to ensure that only bonafide Kogi State students in tertiary institutions could apply at no cost.

Jones explained that in the recent first Phase bursary disbursement, applicants were required to upload relevant documents for verification, after which an independent consultant conducted physical screenings. Out of over 40,000 applicants, more than 8,000 students were successfully cleared, leading to the approval and disbursement of ₦316 million.

He further stated that each eligible student in a regular program received ₦30,000, while law school students were paid ₦300,000. The entire process, he emphasized, was seamless, with payments made directly to the beneficiaries. Given the success of this initiative, he noted that Governor Ododo is committed to sustaining and expanding the bursary scheme, reinforcing the educational foundation laid by the past administration.

WAEC FEE PAYMENT: A LEGAL MANDATE FOR ACCESSIBLE EDUCATION

Speaking on the government’s commitment to free education, Jones highlighted that the Kogi State Free Examination Registration Law, which was signed into law towards the end of the Yahaya Bello administration, mandates the state to cover registration fees for major exit examinations, including WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, JAMB, Junior WAEC, Common Entrance, and the First School Leaving Certificate.

He stated that in 2023/2024 session, the government disbursed over ₦800 million for this initiative, and in 2024/2025 session, the amount increased to ₦1.3 billion due to rising examination costs and a higher number of beneficiaries. Specifically, for WAEC, payments increased from ₦487 million last year to over ₦661 million this year.

To prevent intruders from exploiting the scheme, Jones noted that stricter verification measures were put in place, ensuring that only eligible public school students, as required by law, were covered.

INFRASTRUCTURAL UPGRADES: BUILDING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

On infrastructural development in tertiary institutions, Jones emphasized that Governor Yahaya Bello initiated an unprecedented expansion of Kogi’s university system, establishing two new state universities—the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara and Kogi State University (KSU), Kabba, while also upgrading the Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba.

He noted that the Ododo administration is consolidating these efforts, ensuring that beyond physical structures, academic programs receive full accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to guarantee excellence and global competitiveness.

He disclosed that over ₦8 billion has been approved for key projects at KSU Kabba, including:

• A Senate Building
• A Faculty of Science Complex
• A Male Hostel
• A Female Hostel

With the student population now exceeding 2,100, the Commissioner assured that these projects are being fast-tracked and are expected to be completed within nine months.

SECURITY MEASURES IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Addressing security concerns, Jones revealed that the Safe Schools Initiative, launched under the previous administration, is now being reinforced under Governor Ododo. He stated that the state government is working closely with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to train students and teachers on security awareness and emergency response.

Following the CUSTECH Osara kidnapping incident, the government reassessed land allocations in its institutions, prioritizing total perimeter fencing of active campuses. For instance, he said that 100 hectares out of the 400 hectares available at CUSTECH Osara have now been fenced, with similar measures implemented at KSU Kabba and Kogi State Polytechnic Itakpe. In addition, he noted that CCTV surveillance systems have been installed to enhance security.

CHALLENGES IN BASIC EDUCATION: TEACHER SHORTAGE AND RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES

Speaking on challenges in the education sector, Jones acknowledged that teacher shortage remains a pressing issue, especially at the basic education level. He stated that despite recent recruitment efforts, many teachers leave for better opportunities, retire, or refuse postings to rural areas.

To address this, he revealed that the state has embarked on a large-scale teacher recruitment drive, ensuring that qualified personnel are deployed to public schools across the state. He further emphasized that Governor Ododo is committed to improving teachers’ welfare, sustaining the policies laid down under Yahaya Bello’s administration.

EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY: SMART SCHOOLS AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Jones also spoke about the state’s drive to integrate technology in education, an initiative that began under Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration. With JAMB transitioning to computer-based testing, the government is working towards introducing smart schools equipped with modern learning tools.

He explained that plans are in place to provide schools with smart classrooms, interactive boards, and e-learning platforms to improve teaching efficiency and student engagement. Additionally, he disclosed that technical and vocational education is being strengthened to equip students with practical skills in high-demand sectors.

According to him, the goal is to ensure that Kogi State produces graduates who are not only employable but can also become job creators, continuing the educational transformation initiated by the past administration and now being advanced by Governor Ododo.

THE ODODO ADMINISTRATION: A CONTINUATION OF EDUCATIONAL TRANSFORMATION

Jones reaffirmed that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is not just sustaining but expanding the bold education policies initiated by Governor Yahaya Bello. He stated that the government’s approach is focused on accountability, technological innovation, and strategic investment to ensure continuous improvement in the sector.

From bursary payments and examination fee waivers to university expansion, security interventions, and teacher recruitment, Jones maintained that the administration’s efforts reflect a structured and deliberate approach to educational development.

He concluded by stating that Kogi’s education revolution is not a sudden development but a testament to government continuity, where a solid foundation laid in the past is now yielding results for a globally competitive future.
