Health / Re: Weight Loss Success, Please Share Your Story by mandee8223: 8:21pm On Apr 28, 2016
Ok, I made sure I read every comment on this thread before I dropped my comment. I hope this thread Is still active cos I haven't read any comments from 2016.

Well, for me I have been shuttling between 100 n 120kg for some yrs and it hasn't been funny. The funniest thing is, I don't look too fat for my weight but my arms and tummy have enlarged thru d yrs.

Well I have tried d drinking lime/lemon water every morning and it did absolutely noffin for me. I allso tried clean 9 last year jan and lost 13kg after d clean 9 but once I was thru with it I gained even more. Then I discovered something, I wasn't eating and drinking right. I hated sodas only after drinking it, it was an addiction. I hated cooked meals but cld go on and on with biscuits, pastries and all what thrash, then I wld stay all day without eatin and stillll nevr lost a kg.

Then I saw a friend who was size 16 and in less than 3mnths she was a size 8 and I was wowed. Before u begin to judge just read on. She did not take any diet pill, weightlloss cream, chinese herb, on go on any fad diet. She first of all eliminated fizzy drinks, fast foods, and alll other processed foods then she detoxed for two wks by eating only fruits n oil-less veggies. She worked out using shaun T insanity workout CDs and kiera Lashae dance workout CD two hours everyday. After two wks she started eating clean. Brown/ofada rice instead of white rice, wheat bread instead of white or agege bread, minimum of three ltrs of water daily, oats instead of sugary process breakfast cereals, oil less beans with tomato onions n crayfish/fish (yummy). Stew with only a tbsp of extra virgin olive oil, loads of unsweetened fruits like cucumber, grapefruit etc n few sweetened fruits like appple, kiwi, english pear, 1banana, mango, water melon etc (love lÓve love them) and complex carbs for weightlloss llike sweet potatoes instead of yam. Then two to three cups of tea without milk or sugar a day, preferably green tea or oolong tea (great for speeding up metabolism) I actually use a cup 45mins before my workouts and one hour into d workouts I'm not tired yet. Anyway she changed her diet to healthy eating and skipped all the skippables and swapped all d swappables and in three mnths she lost 4dress sizes and got back to her prewedding look and now she's maintaining it by practicing portion control (I use my baby plate to eat my meals now and I find out I'm very full even at dat, what da hellll have I been eating all these yrs) chai! This all happened btw january 7th and march 27th this year for my friend so a day after my bday, on apr 18th I was motivated to tow her line and I'm on my elenth day on d fruits n veggie detox and its been awesome. I statd out as 119kg (oops!) And on d morning of the 8th day even though I was supposed to weigh forthnightly, I was tempted to check my weight and alas, in 7days I have lost 4kg without following it strictly or even exercising at all. Wow! Means we eat and drink a lot of rubbish dat makes us gain weight. Now I'm more motivated and wld add my workouts to it, though I'm a busy bee, always moving, dat allso helps, kip moving and don't just sit ur ass tight in one place. Hmmmm, fingers hurt from typing dis long on bb. Hope someone is motivated now, llets go girls we can do it. My goal is to lose 30kg by december dis year, with the rate I'm going, its gonna b a walk in d park. God helping me. Everything is possible one u can set to heart to it.

Religion / Re: What Does The Bible Say About Make-up? by mandee8223: 10:07am On Oct 20, 2015
There r men's skirts and there r female skirts, there r men's trousers and there r female trousers, just like there r male shirts and female shirts. There r clear cut distinctintions in these attires. As a born again christian, I dress decently to look good for my creator, he gives me revelations on what I'm to do thru dreams. He watches d heart and pays no attention to ur outward appearances. He wld have revealed if wearing trousers were wrong, or make up. Bible talked about adorning urself. Kings were annointed, wore fine robes and golden jewelries like rings in d days of old and God appeared to them daily. He never left d important matters for trivial issues. If a woman wears her husband trouser or shirt is d sin, not wen she wears hers. That's my understanding, may God help us to b pure in heart and hands. Who can come up to d holy mountain of God, who can stand in His holy place? Its d man with clean hands and a pure heart" shikena! That's d bible standpoint, let's stop chasing shadows, I must do shakara for my God, he gives me beauty in place of ashes. What's ur reason for doing d things u do? To attract men or to look decent and beautiful for ur God, when u can answer this sincerely then u can know if its a sin or not! Shalom

Business / Jennyluv Has Done It Again! Just Like She Said She Would by mandee8223: 5:09pm On Sep 29, 2015
Sometime ago I was looking to start a biz in OK wears. I googled and googled until I stumbled upon a post on nairaland concerning a lady who deals in OK wears in bales. Then I decided to monitor her threads to see if there r satisfied n unsatisfied people who had patronised her. I saw some satisfied people and a particular unsatisfied customer and her posts were very disturbing. A lot of terrible things were said to each other n I read them all. But d most interesting thing was I didn't judge her, I didn't condemn her and I didn't write her off. I got her contacts and spoke earnestly with her concerning my fears and how I felt abt her sense of business. She explained herself and she cleared my doubts and today, my business relationship with her has kickstarted and I'm d happier for it. I have come to understand two important things in d whole scenario; life is not a bed of roses, and don't be too hasty to conclude on something or abt someone just becos someone else had a bad experience with them. U get d best if u give ur best, u can give out garbage and expect to have beauty. Treat everyone like u wld urself and take time to explain urself to anyone who needs explaining to. Be slow to speak and dumb when it comes to insulting people, b positive minded; if u get to think bad abt someone, u get bad from dat someone. Above all, before u begin any biz transaction with anyone, pray earnestly to God abt it and he wld direct n lead u. If d person is a fraudster or a scammer, with God going before u, dat biz transaction will go perfectly well. Enough said jennyluv is a good biz woman, she may not b perfect like no1 is on earth but it hasbin nice doing biz with her. Doubters, kindly get ur doubts cleared as seeing is beleiving. More pics coming right up as soon as bale is opened tomoro morning. Wish me luck guys. God bless all our hustles, shalom!

I wrote a personal statement explaining all the documents I sent in and my documents were well packaged, I still haven't seen any reason I was refused. anyway, its not a do or die affair, im keeping my fingers crossed for the response from the admin review. whatever b the case I'm not desperate, just wanted to spend some good time away from work with my kids and to b with my only sister who has been away for some years now. I mean kini big deal?
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by mandee8223: 9:59pm On Aug 13, 2014
I have my leave letter from my employer, and I stated that the reason for my visit was to see my only sister whom I haven't seen in a long while and sightseeing. saying I'm far from having my reveiew come out successful is very ............. I think the only info not sent is the tenancy agreement, they live in a three bedroom with no kids or family member, I don't think accommodation should b the problem. for Gods sake I'm only going for two weeks just to give my kids a travelling experience, the oldest is barely 4 and the youngest barely 1. I really do not believe I haven't submitted sufficient documents.

Just wise pls help.
I applied for a family visit visa to visit my elder sister and her husband who is an EEA national/British citizen alongside my two kids, my husband, a banker was my sponsor and my sis and husband sent in their documents and a letter stating they would take care of our accommodation and other expenses. we were refused and given no rights to appeal, the eco stated that they thought I had no intentions to return (my husband is not travelling with us so I have family ties) I also have a steady and secure job where I earn 120k. they stated that I didn't prove to them that I could maintain and accommodate myself and my kids while in the UK, my husbands bank statement had 1.2m and mine 400k, my kids both have over 100k each and we get monthly dependant allowances of 20k for me and 5k each for the kids from my husbands employer. they also did not put into consideration my sisters letter stating that they would accommodate and feed us, bank statements and payslips as well as ours. my husband also got a large sum of 800k inflow into his account which was corporative contribution from 10 staff in their bank, his statements showed his own contribution of 80k each month from February but they still said the inflow was suspicious and that why would he have 1.2m and wish to spend 800k on me and my kids without considering the fact that his monthly income of 385k would still continue for the two weeks we would be away and mine too. we just sent admin review let's back to them pointing out these facts and how we think their decision was unfair. are we supposed to fill any admin review request form? are they supposed to issue us a right to admin review with our refusal forms? and pls wat are our chances of getting their earlier decisions overturned? pls respond dear just wise I'm anxious and this is my first time writing on naira land. THANKS JUSTWISE[color=#006600]
Religion / Re: Catholics Commemorate The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary by mandee8223: 5:21pm On Aug 15, 2013
okay, this is really a serious discussion. i read almost through all the comments and i must confess that i got a bad headache after i did. as i write, i am asking the Holy Spirit to give me utterance cos i truly dont know how to fashion my response. firstly, i am a catholic and was born a catholic and all my siblings and my parents and husbands family are catholics (die-hard ones at that). in my family, we have prayed as catholics and have gotten answers to our prayers even speedy ones at that. note that when we pray, we do not pray to mary, we pray to God through his son Jesus Christ. one thing i believe non-catholics dont understand is that they dont know anything about the catholics or their faith, they just stand outside and criticize. i must state here that many of the points these departed brethrens of ours have raised are true and i have prayed about them and have also gotten confirmation from the holy spirit that some of the doctrines of the catholic church are actually man-made. but come to think of it, what church doesnt have its man-made doctrines? like a brother rightly pointed out, not everything was written in the bible, there wouldnt have been space for it all, the bible would have been placed in a musuem cos it would have been too large to carry about. why have you non-catholics asking why mary's name was not mentioned in the bible after the situation at the upper room where the apostles received the holy spirit for the first time not asked why the growing up years (day by day explanations) were not captured in the bible? secondly, i would say it was and never is the doctrine of the catholic church for its members to bow down to any idol, whether mary's or of the saints. what happens is there are many fanatics in the church who like to over-do things, i am a catholic for 31yrs now and i have never bowed down to any idol, it is not written anywhere that we should. thirdly, we can never push away mary's role in the salvation of mankind. she was found blameless by God and was chosen specifically for the special assignment, if she wasnt special, remember she was called (blessed are you among all women) God would not have chosen her and if she had refused, maybe, who knows, there may not be one righteous enough to bore our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus listened to his mother while he was on earth, he never disrespected her or his foster father, he obeyed her even when the time of his miracle was not even nigh (the feast at cana). mary's role cannot just be pushed aside. i agree some catholics over-do it but i would advise my catholic brethren to learn to focus more on the messiah himself rather than his mother, lest we give glory to whom we shouldnt. honour her like the cathecism teaches and not worship or bow down to her. remember, there is only one mediator, who is Christ Jesus, mary cannot be a mediator, why ask for help from the handmaid of the Lord when the Lord is your "present help in time of trouble" and always available to you when you call on him. being a catholic is perfect but dont mix things up by shying away from what the bible teaches or base your beliefs on what man teaches rather than what is inspired by the holy spirit. pls pls and pls, learn to read the bible, the cathecism and catholic doctrines books shouldnt be your references, the bible should be your sole reference as a christian, catholic or otherwise, as you read the bible, pray to God to give you understanding of the mysteries therein, trust me you will find answers and get the truth you seek and you would get confirmation in your dreams or even in real life situations. prayer is the key and remember our cathecism book teaches us that "prayer is the pouring out of our mind and heart to God" or the new cathecism simply says "prayer is comunication between God and man" when you pray, dont just talk, talk and talk, talk and meditate, give room to God to talk back and learn to discern the voice of God. christianity is different from what you guys are seeing it, arguing and dissing one another's churches or doctrines is not the way forward. God is not a God of confusion or quarrel, he is a God of peace, Jesus wants us to live together as one irrespective of church or tribe or doctrine "ut unum sint" "that they may be one". pls catholics and departed brethrens lets embrace peace and be one, let the holy spirit guide us to the path of truth and let us find great understanding as we search through the holy scriptures for answers.
Shalom
born and bred catholic who knows the truth through the holy spirit and not church dogmas
may God help us and have mercy on us.

Health / Re: Living With Aquagenic Priuritus (After-Bath Body Itch) by mandee8223: 3:24pm On Aug 15, 2013
i dont suffer such extreme rage and anger during my itch and mine doesnt last more than 10mins but even as it is as bad as what you used to suffer, its still not pleasant. i have been suffering mine since i was very little and now i am 31. two yrs ago when after giving birth, i noticed the itching attacks disappeared. i didnt change homes, water, soap, disinfectant or anything, it just disappeared. now i m pregnant for my second child and just last month, the monster reappeared again. i am naturally a squeaky clean person and the itch is triggered by cold bath, dirty bathroom, dirty towel, unkept bed, dirty bedsheets and dirty night wears. so i ensure everywhere is excellently tidy before having my bath.
the remedies you mentioned are exactly what works for me. tidiness, sunlight, very hot water and neat clothing and bedding. never knew it was a condition that had a name, thought i and my siblings were the only sufferers on the face of the earth(i, my sis and my brother suffer from the itching). my sis is a pharmacist in the UK, so i will ask her to check out the name; aquagenic pruiritus; wow! what a name, kinda suits the condition, lol. thanks for sharing.............i used to go months without sponging in the past but recently i feel uncomfortable if i dont spongebath for two days so i began sponge-bathing again i think thats why it returned. maybe i would have to consider going back to the status quo of using only medicated soap (dettol) and hot water to bath. as for others calling it allergy or what have you, i dont think they r talking about the same condition. nice post JB

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by mandee8223: 5:19pm On Mar 27, 2013
pls i need an urgent response, especially from the good brother @justwise. i applied for a student visa to canada in 2008 and i was refused visa based on the ground that i didnt sufficiently convince them that i would return to nigeria after my study; i had lots of family members there, so i got a refund of my school fees and forgot about the trip since i had no right to an appeal. got married in 2010 and after my wedding, i and my husband trying going for honeymoon in us but was refused visa again. now i plan to travel in october with my two year son to the UK, cos my immediate elder sis is there and is married to an EEA national. pls i want to know what requirements i would be needing for the application and what are the chances that i would get the visa to the UK since i havent travelled out before and i have been refused twice to canada and US.
