Super Eagles defender Elderson Uwa Echiejile has been a mainstay at the senior national team since he came to limelight after his beautiful displays at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada.

The Benin City-born player made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2009 and was picked for the following year’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Ever since he broke into the Eagles first team, Echiejile has been a regular starter in his preferred position – the left back – for the Green and Whites. He has been preferred as first choice, at his position, by all Super Eagles coaches at the helm of affairs ever since he replaced Taye Taiwo at the left-back position.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria arrived Abuja on Friday evening from Paris after a friendly game with The Hawks of Togo and they would, according to reports, resume training in the Capital city on Monday.

The national team have been given a weekend off-training to allow the players rest and after which they will resume training ahead of the AFCON qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa scheduled to hold on the 10th of June.
