Ruth Chayinda-Police in Lusaka have arrested a 22 year old woman of Kitwe for allegedly killing her 2-year old son by suffocating him with a pillow.

Police Spokesperson RAE HAMOONGA says the woman identified as MOSOWE MAEKE stayed at a Lodge in Lusaka’s Kamwala South for three days after being chased by her sister MOKWANE MAEKE and given transport money to go back to Kitwe.

Mr. HAMOONGA says however opted to stay in Lusaka at a named lodge for 3 days before she killed her son after she failed to provide food for him and herself.

He says the suspect later took her child to her elder sister and told her that she had killed him because she had nothing to feed him.

Mr. HAMOONGA says the elder sister with relatives then rushed to Chilenje hospital where he 2-year 7-months old toddler was pronounced dead by medical personnel upon arrival.

He says a docket has since been opened and the suspect is detained in police custody.

Mr. HAMOONGA in a statement issued to ZNBC News further said the body of the deceased has been deposited to the University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

And Mr. HAMOONGA says Police in Lusaka recorded a shooting incident in which a deserter police officer was shot in the leg as he and others attempted to break into a house in Lilayi area.

He says ZENSO SIAKAJOMOA of Lilayi Housing Estates reported that criminals broke into his house through the Kitchen window and fortunately he was awake and managed to shoot at one of them in the left leg using a Point 22 Rifle whilst others managed to escape.

Mr. HAMOONGA the suspect has been identified as 26 year old Joshua Banda of Lilayi, a deserter police who has been on the Police wanted list.

He says the suspect was rushed to Chilenje Level One Hospital for treatment after being shot between 03:00 hours and 03:30 hours.

The incident happened at 13th August,2022 between 17:00 and 19:00 hours at Shamukani Lodge in Kamwala South.

A prominent woman in Mwanza named Swalha, who was involved in beauty issues (make up artist) has been shot dead by her husband on the night of Sunday May 29 2022.

The incident took place at the couple’s home in Buswelu with a sources relating it to love affairs.

Reports from close people say that Swalha’s husband known as Said took the decision due to what is alleged to be love jealousy.

He said Swalha went to watch the ball, while she was there, her husband called her to know about her whereabouts, but she didn't take his calls and in the end was late returning home. Her husband was not happy with his wife’s delay in returning home and not picking his calls , so an argument broke out between them, which led to Swalha’s husband firing on her.
And later sa'id committed suicide
