Mercychen: It's not really because of breakup. I mean... I initiated the break-up. So..
The thing is, I've come to realize that im more at peace when I'm not in a relationship than when I'm in one. At least, I can think straight and focus better on my job than having one guy disturbing me with calls, monitoring my movement and always wanting me around him. Come to me ok,I will not disturb you or take your peace away |

ObaIgwe1: I don't live there. But my friend and I have an ongoing contract there...so we visit quite often.
Electricity is not 24/7 but it is much more better than Nigeria. Also security is much better in Gambia... You can freely walk around most places in Gambia even at the dead of the night. Cases of armed robbery and killings are very low.
But outside those, every other thing is either same or worse than Nigeria.
Rent in Gambia has gone over the roof, Roads are just manageable and don't pray to be seriously sick in Gambia.
No jobs, except for teaching and other low income jobs... But you can successfully run your own business if you know what you are doing..
Still the market is small, Gambia is just about 2 million population... less than some local government areas in Nigeria...
Nonetheless... Gambia is a friendly Tourists destination country... And their women? |

Secondly while searching for schools, you should avoid Big universities and narrow down your search to colleges and Educational Institutes. I have a friend here in Middlesex University located at Flic & flac, their tuition fee is 6kusd, while my institute charges 2500usd Which one is your institute? |

[quote author=Jamestown123 post=106798431]Cost of living is cheap in Kano. You can see a house for 15k, 30k, 50, 70 upward. If you are not an hausa and not a muslim, and you prefer to stay in a christian dominated area then sabon gari is the right place. Getting a job is not really easy, and salary's are not that much, but it's a great place to start a business, safe environment, friendly people, cheap transportation and lovely atmosphere. Kano is safe, it's not like other northern cities that you hear about boko haram and bandits. [/quote Wow, that's good,so you are based in that Sabin gari axis? Talking about business there,is Keke business that lucrative over there? |

Racleoba: Never be scared to make bold step. I am a graduate of education, and after 11 years in teaching, I made the bold step to go into transport business in May last year by acquiring a Nigeria used korope which I could afford and I run the business myself. In this business, I save averagely 50,000 weekly working for 5 days in a week. How many schools in most part of Lagos Nigeria can afford to pay me this. I am an educationist, but sincerely, teaching profession is nothing to talk about in most part of Nigeria please how much can one get such korope and where is your location please? |

Spark2: Life is cool here. You can get a teaching job that will pay you 100k plus but you might need an insider in most of the good schools to update you on opportunities.
Accommodation depends on location. A good self contain will cost 60k plus. Here in Kano, its easier to rent a whole house. With 120+ you will get a good house with tiles... Ok good, hope the place is peaceful at the moment ....
Cheers!! |

Spark2: Hi guys, I trust this meets you well? I am 25 years old, I'd soon be 26. I'm a graduate, I served in Kano and stayed back after service doing a teaching job. I am paid 35, 000 naira per month. The 35k finishes on transportation and feeding even before the month ends.
I started learning a skill in tech about a year and half ago, I've gained some confidence already in web development, I can call my self a Front-End Developer now with some knowledge of back end development... I have made up my mind to keep learning everyday. I have a dream of going fully into tech and at this point in my life, I need a job that will offer me the opportunity to learn what I'm personally interested in. I want to work in a team that will help me to grow, not a teaching job where I am overworked and get home tired everyday and have little time to code.
After sitting and considering all these, I made up my mind to resign my teaching Job by the end of December. I'm going back to my hometown (a state in the North central) where I hope to go down to Abuja in search of a better life or better still if I get one in my state.
The thing is that I'd need to take this bold step now while I'm still a bachelor before I get married and unable to.
I understand that it is a hard decision to take, but if I let fear hold me down here, Many years will pass and I will be here held by fear. A colleague shared his story with me, that he was afraid of leaving and for him, it's 11 years now teaching and he is still struggling. He's married and it's now difficult to take any step as such.
I need advice, if possible share your experiences so that I will learn.
Thank you very much Pls I would like to know how cost of living is ,over there in Kano as I'd like to migrate there from Delta state and would like to go into teaching as it's my passion ,pls how much can one rent a selfcontain apartment there or a mini flat, how is Foodstuff there too and life generally, thanks. |

Education › Re: Teachers In The House, How's It Like Teaching In A Secondary School by Marimart: 6:50am On Sep 23, 2021 |
shantti: Teaching is fun, is all depends on your approach. Am a corp member whose PPA is in one of the ministries in the state but I hardly go to work so in order to keep myself busy I found a teaching job in a private school, I taught physics part time from Ss1 to ss3. Those kids were super intelligent. Ss1 and ss2 love me so much, I made them fall in love with physics, I occasionally crack jokes to stimulate their interest during teaching, they come around the staff room during break and we gist. Ss3 science students, all girls were busy forming big girls for me, flaunting iPhones, I tried my best with them in practicals and preparing them for WAEC but they were not serious. But in general I was careful with the female students, they really wanted me, most of them were really mature in appearance, very mature but I've sworn never to have anything to do with minors, not because am religious or the sort, but because of the risk of jail term. Equally, if u impregnate any student in this state, u MUST, I mean MUST marry her. I changed to another school near my house when transport fare Increased. That's where am currently teaching, I teach maths and physics from ss1 to ss3, the students here are not intelligent or serious and it's because the school is a sort of special center for WAEC and NECO, they thrive in malpractice. The students know practically nothing, absolutely nothing, I really fear for their future. I follow the boys to play soccer, I love soccer with all my heart, I am more better and faster than them and it endeared me to them, it fostered our relationship. Am equally careful with the girls here, the female studentss in this state are too mature in appearance, I don't know why, maybe is what they eat, a girls of js3 will be looking all grown up and already applying make up and have already mastered the art of fake accent and posh gestures. Your first day with them is what will stick to their subconsciousness, it will make them see u as boring or interesting so try to make it fun. Be very jovial on your first day and try to make them to laugh. At times their attitude might weigh u down and cause u anxiety and depression and make u hate everything, don't stick to the feeling for so long, just see it as teenage crises. Be firm, know the right time to send a student out of the class for constituting a nuisance, don't beat them, you can tell them to pick pin or sit on the air or to slap themselves. Try to show concern about their academic progress, u can call students individually and inquire why they are not doing well, profer solutions to their problems. Relate with them very well and I promise u, u will enjoy the experience. That is nice o... what state is that and how much do they pay teachers as salary? |

nwadikeokey11: Honestly it depends on individual and what you want. For instance, if your intention is to hustle, as in get a job and work for somebody, then Israel no doubt is your best bet, but if you are looking for where you will be your own boss, like establish and manage your own business, then i will advise that you head to Rwanda straight. You could rarely get a job in Rwanda as even the ones available aren't enough for the locals, but business is very great there. Again in Israel jobs are every where, the problem is if you have got enough strength to work. Oh ok,by God's grace ,I am able and strong enough to work and would prefer that of Israel so as I can raise money and then set up a business. |

Currently I live and work in Tunisia (Offshore Mediterranean Sea). The people here love Nigerians and they tell you of their love for Okocha, Kanu and Yekini, babangida and some other footballers that have played for Esperence of Tunis and few others in other clubs in Tunisia. Since its a multinational setting, the British guys and some Europeans that live in Thailand or Indonasia always talk about the email scam jobs from Shell they receive from Nigeria. Our brothers and their drug business and south east asia. Its embarassing but I laugh it off. Its really a bad image some of us have sold abroad but doesn't make us all bad. I defend our position regardless. Tunisia is a nice north african country and the people are accomodating but poor economy due to corrupt politicians just like our Nigeria. I noticed some problems we have is called AFRICA. Nonetheless, you still have lots of international students from other africa coming to school here in Tunis. The RCCG church is filled with students from other african countries and few indigenes. Nice holiday resorts in Sousse and gulf of Hammamet. Nigerians are accepted here......come if like but get a good job or else, you go cheechomchin. Can you assist one in getting a job or coming over? |
