Dear Marion123 and iphiechuks please give us update as well.

Dear all,

My wife and I are about to apply for a TRV but do not know what to indicate in "the purpose of my visit" graph in the online questionnaire (see 1st attached file)? When filled in the online questionnaire we indicated the purpose as other and not tourism. Now when I upload documents via online application "the letter of invitation" file is required and w/o it doesn't allow to proceed to payment of the visa fee (see attached pic 2).

What shall we do in this case? We have no one in Canada to give us a letter of invitation, doctors also refused to give the letter and asked not to indicate them as a visiting place. Please advise.

I have just figured out that when I indicate my purpose of visit in the questionnaire as a tourism, the letter of invitation file becomes not required anymore in the online application. Instead a "purpose of travel - other" file attachment is available for uploading and it is possible to attach air tickets, hotel bookings, appointment with doctors (see attached pics 3 and 4).

So my second question what do you choose in the questionnaire as your purpose "other" or "tourism"?

I think that a medical visit for birth giving is also a tourism, i.e. medical tourism and we do not intend to stay in Canada. Thus, I can choose a tourism option in the questionnaire but in the form indicate purpose other as a medical tourism, right? what do you think? on the other point not connected with visa application I think that We give a present to Canada in the form of our baby who will be contributing to Canada's economy in the future when grown up while not spending taxpayers' money since the baby will be growing in the home country. Taking into account that Canada needs workforce for its economy growing.

Thanks

"the purpose of my visit" Best is to choose tourism and back it up with a letter that your requested a temporary resident visa for child birth and also during this period you will visit some places Of interest AND explain why you have no invitation letter ,and any arrangement you have made and the information you have gathered from the doctor about cost and your projected cost and the available fund....upload all this document to Letter of Explanation section even if you have a letter from your Nigerian doctor ,stage of pregnancy and why Canada and not Nigeria
if you have no invitation letter then you can use hotel reservation, it not compulsory you have to request invitation letter from anybody ...and most importantly ynlike usa it very rare for Canada doctor or hospital would email with a new patient. But you can make a spreadsheet of your projected expenditure

Below what is stated on most hospital website

(We are also cognizant of how we communicate with our patients. Due to the insecure nature of e-mail, we do not use email as a means of communication with the public or patients:

regarding questions or issues of a medical nature;
to establish physician/patient relationships;
to book or cancel appointments;
for inquiries regarding fees, services or similar matters.
We will not respond to email communications regarding such matters. If you wish to contact us regarding medical questions or issues or with regard to appointments, accounts or other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone)

key note in your letter

1) Why Canada and not Nigeria

2) costs of childbirth

3) Your available fund AND asset with proof

4)Your travel history

and please note Giving birth in Canada does not represent a violation of any terms or conditions which may be applied to a temporary resident. Thus, there is no provision in IRPA to refuse a TRV(tourist visa) solely on the basis of the intent of the applicant to give birth in Canada.

What document am I submitting with my application

Please help

Am a silent reader of this forum and i will like to thank everybody for the useful tips and information it does help because anytime i want to travel aboard and need apply visa i do come to nairaland and read all the information from page to page and this gives added advantage..from my uk visa ,to europe visa ,to usa visa .... most tips and pattern were gotten from here
December 2015 , Canada and usa signed a share information Implementing Arrangement between the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency, and the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security of the United States concerning Biographic Visa and Immigration Information Sharing ) but that does not means you will be rejected because usa refuse you visa so far your usa visa refuse is not based on threats to public security and you are not inadmissible to Canada but just be honest with your intentions. you can apply explaining with a good backup letter why you want to give birth in Canada ,you can afford it with prove,bank account for last six month and your ties like letter from job ,property and others proof to your home country,with your travel experience attached because my family applied and got the visa to our surprise in 14 working days but we had a valid usa visa maybe that an added advantage ..so the 4 month or 120 days is not in all situation ,i wish you all the best ..you can give it a try just be open and honest with your intentions
3 major point
***Do applicants have sufficient funds?
****Will they leave Canada at the end of their period of authorized stay?
***Are they admissible?

but why was your usa visa refused ,most renewal is via drop box ,or you were invited for interview
