This is a very serious issue.
I experienced similar when I was growing up. My dad was a business man while my mum was a graduate without a job. My dad was very hardworking and he would always leave the house early in the morning and come back home at late evenings all in the bid to cater for his family

I noticed that as soon as my mum got a job, he kind of became lazy. He wasn't going to work early as before and he began taking unnecessary breaks from work.
This led to problems in both his business and marriage.

I just used this story to express my thoughts. Husbands, when they see that their wives have a source of income tend to feel that a burden has been lifted off their shoulders and they kind of relax, which isn't supposed to be so

Definitely the wife should take on some of the financial responsibilities, after all marriage is a kind partnership relationship. But this shouldn't mean that the husband should use this as an avenue to prey on the wife

In my own opinion, I think the financial responsibilities should be shared based on the income strength of both husband and wife.

Haaa...some Igbos are indeed terrible people. You soon become the bitter enemy of an average Igbo man after helping them to success....especially when they sensed that you are now equals....other tribes might behave in this manner though but my experience with Igbos are not funny.

This is my story.
I had an Igbo friend as a business partner. We started a business together with my own Idea, we both contributed money to get it started. Along the line we had issues with take off... a serious one at that and my friend lost interest and started demanding for his own part of the investment...it was a terrible moment for me that at a certain stage I sold my car to raise the fund for him, he was like a devil.

In the past I brought him into a big contract with delta state government at Oghara efe that brought huge dividend... I was really shocked that he demanded I sell my car to pay him off which I did...eventually he started a campaign against me as I struggle to make the business a success which I succeded, now he goes about blackmailing me that I took over a business we started together...so sad for him it was too late. Ever since I watch my back with serious care. Igbos sometimes are no good people to do business with...speaking from experience.

I disagree , in those days our mothers did jobs like teaching or working in the civil service where they close like 4-5 pm so they get home before the husbands and have time to do household things. Now most women are doing jobs where they leave home as early as the man and they get back home around the same time in the night.

Yet the lazy Nigerian men want to sit on their bums and do nothing while the same woman who worked the same hours as you at the office is expected to take care of everything at home and then those same men will be going about shinning about how their wives no longer take care of themselves and are looking haggard . Why won't she look haggard when she's working almost round the clock while the man doesn't lift a finger.

The women in the west are able to balance things in the home front because their men contribute on the home front. And yes the women I know that work pay equal bills as their husbands .

By the way intelligent people are able to make their points and have a civilized discussion without insults

i wonder why the divorce rate is so high in the western countries since women in the west seems to have such perfect marriages with the most understanding husbands.

My advice would be for you to tell her the truth and your reasons for lying, if she is right for you she will understand.

I dont think you should tell anyone this yet. He must really trust you to tell this, he wont be pleased if u tell people and i dont think you would like his wrath on you. Try to make him see that his fantasy is a path to destruction and pain for both him and his family. I dont think he can ever stop having this thoughts but he can suppress it.

Is he capable of taking care of a family.

For me;i think they both aren't an option,cos if d guy overseas is ready,he would/should have sent his pple ova & made it known to his family about you...Or better still,he should call on daily basis to keep d fire burning.

As for the other dude,just b really ready to face his family, especially d mother nt wanting d son to marry a woman almost twice his age.
