I have been having problems with my cooling system for the past two weeks, please where in Lagos and its environs can I go for cooling system test for leakage. |
I need your your advice, my 2006 Rav4 radiator plastic side(attached) broke and I got it repaired at Owode Onirin since I was closed to that place when it happened. My car has been over-heating since then and the problem comes up with coolant/water in the reservoir, the engine thermostat is place. My mechanic advised me to take the radiator to the radiator specialist who opens and flushes the cell or buy a new one if I can afford it. I don't know whether to go for flushing of the existing or to buy a new single cell that comes with the car or double cell as advised by mechos. Please I really need your advice.

I have seeing cars overheating in traffic jam and hold-ups but my own case is special. My car overheats at 70-80 km/h and each time I stop to check what was wrong with the cooling system I discovered that the coolant/water level is normal. If I allow the engine to cool down and continue at 50-60 km/h, the temperature will be normal. The engine thermostat is intact. I even changed the thermostat on my way back to check whether it is bad, it still did the same thing after about 20 km. Please what can I do to get the cooling system back to normal. |
@Mosbus. Thank you very much for the other day. I am the man that came to your workshop with 2006 Rav4 on the 6th of this month, to seek for advice on the installed manual compressor. I put on the AC yesterday 16/4/17, it was blowing hot air. Could it be because the car was idle? I am presently in Osogbo where the compressor was installed and I will go to the AC technician tomorrow to remove the compressor. Thanks again. |
I bought and installed a new engine in my 2006 RAV4 sometimes last June when I had a problem with the old engine and I later discovered that the engine oil always found its way to the bottom of coil 'A' (the first coil from the left if you are standing at the front of the bonnet). I noticed this when my Mechanic did a servicing of the car last month and I tried to gauge the engine oil two weeks after. I went back to him to complain and he opened the engine cover and tried to clean the old gum and put new one around the cover and told me that it will not happen again, I now bought a one litre engine oil to top up the oil and I started checking to discovered that the same thing happened after four days. So I took the car to another workshop and I was told that they will have to buy another engine cover 'rubber' and sealant. I stood with this man and I believed he did a thorough cleaning of the engine cover and fixing of the rubber and the sealant and we also allowed the gum to cure for four hours but the same thing happened after four days. Please I need your help on how the problem could be fixed. |
