Breakdown of cost savings when cloth diapers are used.

Assumptions
Assuming child is potty trained at 2.5 years.

Assuming 4 diapers are used per day @ 70 naira each

Total cost of disposable= 365 days * 2.5 years *70 naira * 4 per day (255,500 naira per child on diapers!!)

With the soap,electricity and water cost,cloth diapering full time will cost approximately 181,248 per child and much less for subsequent children.Thus saving approximately 74,252 naira per child and much more on subsequent children.

Apart from cost savings, other advantages of cloth diapers include:

1) They are a healthier choice of diapering, as they are free from chemicals contained in disposable diapers.

2) They are a better choice for the environment, helping to reduce the environmental pollution caused by disposables.

3) They are made of are breathable material thus reducing the heat on baby's bottom.

4) Cloth potty training pants help toddlers’ potty train quickly when compared with disposable pull up pant.

5) Parents will never run out of baby diapers as long as they have been washed.

6) Being able to use the same diaper for two children such as a toddler and an infant,during the same period.

This your calculation is very modest,You forgot the very expensive pull up pants,those are really expensive and daycare centers request you bring lots while your child is potty training.It's only those that use low quality disposables that will not see cloth diapers as a cost saving solution.In this our economy with rising cost of living and raising children who wont want to save!!
