PoliticsRe: We Will Defend Rivers People's Interest, Says Suspended Governor, Fubara by markjam05: 7:59am On Apr 01, 2025
PigTormentor:
At least the Nigerian constitution allows the President to declare a state of Emergency under certain conditions. However, there is no place in the constitution where a Governor like Fubara is permitted to demolish the State house of Assembly and at the same time try to remove the elected House members.
For demolishing the House alone, the guy deserves to be impeached and imprisoned.
And those certain conditions have not been met. You know, I know and everybody knows. Even if those conditions are met, you cant remove democratic institutions unilaterally, this clear abuse of power.

I'm not defending Fubara cos I'm not from Rivers state but I know those lawmakers defected to the opposition party and the law is quite clear on that. (you lose your seats)

Politicians have been fighting dirty since 1999 even your Ex NADECO fighter come president was a rugged fighter to the extent when he was contesting elections in Lagos his major opponent Funsho William's was gruesomely murdered in his house.

When Adam's oshiomole in his tenure as the Governor of edo state got the hint that he was going to be impeached, he partially destroyed the state house and relocated the house of assembly to the government house but no SOE was declared, he carried on governance. infact it was Adam oshiomole who stared this trend. Why is Rivers own different?

Look, i don't care much about these politicians I'm just concerned about the dangerous precedent his has set, it means whoever is at the helm of affairs can orchestrate situations in oppositions states and declare SOE afterall the Ex NADECO fighter come president did it in his time.

this is just so abnormal. one elected official removed another elected official and everyone has moved on.
PoliticsRe: State Of Emergency In Rivers State Is The Right Call by markjam05: 11:51am On Mar 19, 2025
Abbeytoy:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's declarations of a state of emergency in Rivers State is both necessary and opportune. The political turmoil in the state has reached a critical point, with both sides purportedly receiving support from militant organisations. While Asari Dokubo appears to be the sole significant Ijaw militant leader who supports Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Governor Nyesom Wike has the backing of other influential figures. Fubara clearly does not have a monopoly on the use of force.

Prior to taking this strong action, President Tinubu attempted to resolve the disagreement multiple times. He originally invited both sides to settle their disagreements amicably, but they refused, leaving the case to the courts. In another attempt to restore peace, the president called a meeting with important state leaders to establish a long-term solution, but no tangible progress was made.

Tensions rose when some militants, acting on previous threats, began targeting oil pipelines over the weekend—acts that tragically continued today. Faced with the looming possibility of widespread violence and economic sabotage, the president's decision to declare a state of emergency is a proactive effort to prevent a total breakdown in law enforcement.

Importantly, this intervention assures that Rivers State workers do not face the implications of frozen state accounts, which could interrupt critical services. With only Asari Dokubo's organisation openly backing Fubara, limiting additional disturbance is possible, unlike in prior periods when many militant factions banded together against the government.

Anyone who opposes the president's decision is either playing dirty politics or does not care about the well-being of the people of Rivers State. Such people appear to be pleased to watch innocent citizens suffer as a result of a catastrophe they did not cause. This state of emergency is more than just a precaution; it is an important step towards protecting the people of Rivers State, maintaining peace, and protecting the nation's critical resources from further harm.

Secondary can Tinubu give Us a detailed breakdown of the amount saved from subsidy payment and what they are used for. We all can't be fools nah.

when these guys talk about "things are going to be okay", what do they mean exactly?
are the cost of food stuff going back to the way it was?
is the cost of Transportation going back to the way it was?
is the price of fuel going back to the way it was?
is our exchange rate going back to the way it was?

what do they mean exactly, we have been hearing this for a long time.
it goes beyond rhetorics, how do they quantify these statementshuh
PoliticsRe: Jibrin Samuel Okutepa SAN: Is Nigeria Cursed? by markjam05:
Nigerians worship money.
We shamelessly have no more morals and value system.
Our politicians, head of government agencies, national legislatives and the judiciary are all shameless. They have passed the threshold of shamelessness to the point they dont even care anymore. They dont care about the perception of Nigeria's institutions from Nigerians or foreigners.

You see this country is only good for making money and nothing else.
We should decide what type of governance system we want, whether dictatorship, monarchy or whatever cos democracy is certainly not part of it.
These geriatrics have bastardized the very institutions that forms well functioning society and the MILITARY are being rewarded handsomely to stay out of it. Tell me! why must every President appoint Army Chief from his own ethnic stock. These people actually dont believe in the country.

Shame on our so-called politicians, leaders, head of agencies, judiciary, legislatives and all Nigerians who are supporters of these lots.

I cant imagine Nigerians will see BLACK and call it WHITE, they will see RED and called it PURPLE.

we have certainly learnt that to do the RIGHT THING DOES NOT PAY. so sad.

PoliticsRe: Edo Governorship Poll Echoed My Advice To Peter Obi, Says Obidigbo by markjam05:
nice and interesting read. it's De ja vu all over again, we Nigerians are not ready to build this country, if we are ready the rest of the world will know.

This primitive ways of acquiring power in a supposed democracy, I dont know if it's a black man's thing or universal.

Everything is just wayo, wayo, yet when other countries call Nigeria and Nigerians corrupt and unsalvageable we get angry and defensive.

These guys even changed the country's national anthem on the premise of building a cohesive and stronger nation then turn around bastardize the institutions that makes the society function.

I dont foresee any changes in the next 15 years.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Technically Bankrupt, Says Obaseki by markjam05: 11:07pm On Sep 19, 2024
nothing new in his assertions, we have been saying this for a while.

The FG is micromanaging the economy of 220 millions of Nigerians from Abuja, paying each states certain stipends every month, Hahaha

no wonder high level corruption pervades the Land, people kill themselves to get into positions of power so that they steal and covert the same resources.

meanwhile:
our population grows at a steady 2.5% annually
inflation is about 33%
unemployment rate is about 50-60%
A country that borrows money to fund recurrent expenditure
poor critical infrastructures and yet these Agbada wearing geriatrics wont cut down the cost of governance.

well, 10 years from now we will still be going back n forth with this.

How can someone live here and be normal? Govt should encourage the building of estates for the police, this can be done through their cooperatives and trusts. Its better for them to own their homes, for their families, portable living quarters can be built for those who are on constant redeployment. Most of their personnel who are redeployed request for it.

It’s the audacity for me, the audacity of same people who demand that certain part of Nigeria shouldn’t participate in an election inside Nigeria where they live and pay tax.
what's the big deal here? I dont see any problem, if the irish people don't want her they shouldn't vote for her.
The only problem that would cause a stir is when she starts chest thumping that she must participate and win.

Her calculation is simple.
She joins APC
Hon. Dennis Idahosa becomes Deputy Governor
She obtains APC ticket for House of Reps
She wins the election because Ovia north East is an APC stronghold.

Well, if APC doesnt win the forthcoming gubernatorial election she stays at home. It's a gamble like bet9ja.

It has nothing to do with Love or hate for either APC or PDP. It's just purely self interest.

List some of the steps he has taken to address these issues?

I went for holidays as a child a lot. One time, I went to one of my uncles house for a holiday. We were playing football in the street and as a newbie, I was warned that I should not kick the ball too hard to avoid going into a particular house. Reason being one, the man was a "cultist" and two, he had a big dog and three, his gateman was wicked. I was just flexing my legs anyhow and kicked the ball into his compound. Everyone simply left me to figure it out because I was warned. After that day, never again have I disregarded a wise counsel. Were the boys cowards for not helping me? No, they simply knew better. Were they smart? Yes, because they knew exactly what would happen if that ball went over which was why they warned me and all they said happened except that the rich Anambra man did not use me for money ritual. I just shared my story to answer your questions.
Lol...this your analogy is tad funny. You really believe this your story is clever. Its is just emotions and sentiments without circumspection.

If you look deeply, you will notice that from your story some persons stayed back to sympathize and stand in solidarity with the dude that kicked the ball towards the gate and confronted the nightmare together when you lots ran away with tails between your legs.

Some states that voted for Peter Obi took part in the protests, I don't think I need to mention the states. They didnt come with the 'Braggadocio' of "I told you so" only you lots can do this.

You guys are so nauseating with your reasoning. Okay let's even analyze this action a bit further, are you now in good books with the Yorubas for playing a supposedly smart politics? Is Nnamdi Kanu gonna be released with this super beautiful gesture of yours? or will they and the rest of Nigerians vote for your candidate in 2027 because you didnt protest in 2024.

Well, if that's your reasoning and calculation time will tell but the facts remains you lots were the instigators of this protest, go to social media; Tiktok live, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc when it was time for action you Lot played the tribal card in the name of being 'smart'

In conclusion, it is y'all prerogative to protest or not, pls do not instigate something y'all know you not gonna be involved in. It shows nothing but cowardice, betrayal and deception and pretense.

I believe your word should be your bond.

For instance how would you present a candiate in 2027 and the rest of Nigerians will take seriously.

It is just the way I see the whole thing though.
