When you complain about a serious issue, you should have a solution or way out, that's constructive criticism. I asked for a possible way out but you came with lamentation.

Can a looting machine keep anything?
Do you prefer to keep these kings while they keep looting all the money that should go to the grassroots? What culture are you keeping while they loot massively? Looting cannot keep anything.

And by the way, what exactly have you benefitted from the culture these kings have kept you? Tell me. The only thing you have benefitted and will keep having is poverty. wink

I would rather lose the culture and get rid of the looting machine than keep the looting machines who don't even know their culture. Does Ooni of Ife understand the Ide culture in your eyes? Lol. Does the Kano empire or what it is called understand what they are doing after Ganduje broke it into 5 sections and installed 4 more powerful kings...meaning looting more. grin Dey play. Let them keep brainwashing you. Cultural people. grin "Na poverty go kill you with this culture of a thing"

How can we preserve our culture without this kings? You've got any possible ways??
epainos:
The day Nigeria gets rid of these kings and still find a way to preserve its culture is the day of their freedom. Just imagine the number of kings in Nigeria. angry

I think it's weakness of the highest order to deceive an innocent soul by saying it well when all is not well. You can stay optimistic all you like, a realist will always say things the way they are... I pray you or your loved ones will not be a victim of this before you understand the reality on ground. Righteousness exalt a nation....

Oga so far you still reside in this country, pls try add your own quota to sell her good sides, expecially to foreigners who have intensions of coming.
Rome was not built in a day bro, you don't see citizens of other countries spewing trash about their country to outsiders online like we Nigerians do on a daily basis, or you think they don't have internet too.
I have never seen a citizen of Niger, Chad and even congo with all their poverty, wars and under development come online to trash their country like this.
America wasn't built in a day, and as advanced as they are, they still face way more problems than us, and if the coin is flipped and our Naira overshadows the dollar, they will troop down here to work for us.

Going by the high rate of insecurity coupled with kidnapping we are currently experiencing, you may not last for a month before you get..... If you are lucky, the money should just be enough to pay for your ransom.
PewpewS32:
Nairaland,

Yes, I'm Canadian looking to semi-permanently move to Nigeria for ministry opportunity.

Reading online tells me I'll be fine, but would love to hear a local perspective.

I'll be selling my home, vehicles, furniture... everything and starting over in Nigeria (Lekki, Lagos area).

Everything sold and done I would be coming with around N450,000,000.00 to N500,000,000.00. I know this is a lot in Nigeria. For real, I know. What I would like to know is let's say I don't make any money whatsoever, how long will that last after paying for a 3 bdrm house, car, furniture etc there? Believe me, here in Canada this isn't that much... it's not below poverty, but also not rich either. (Middle Class).

Where do I stand in Nigeria with this much?

Thanks,
Pewpew

If you go to the market you'll understand there's no much difference between price of new or old crate as long as the crates are not broken... Wo, you can believe whatever you like, no time to shalaye.
fidelmarshal199:
Does those crates look like new ones to you? She had the crates already. She is Just improvising.
PoliticsRe: "See Update": Nigerian Lady Uses Crates To Make Bed Frame, Video Amazes People by martolux(m): 9:36am On Jan 10, 2024
I'm seeing about 20 crates there, let's assume 1 crate = N 1500. 1500x20 = N 30,000. That's enough to buy a decent bed frame.
