dany2k: there are various opportunities for bioscientist expecially microbiologist, biotechnologist and biochemist in area of industries ranging from beverages, food, pharmaceutical.breweries and so on.they can also work in the medical field as laboratory scientist,in research institutes,Education sector as lecturers,Nafdac, oil companies(petroleum microbiologist) and so on.so dont allow anyone to deceive you here.medicine and pharmacy are not the only courses that you can make it in.All i have to say is just put in your best effort to come out with good grades like 1st class or 2.1. God blessLIES!!! The last time I checked no biologist/bioscientist in nigeria can be employed as a laboratory scientist in the medical field. Petroleum microbiology is just an area of research in environmental microbiology, no oil company in this country recognises or employs bioscientist to do any yeye environmental research for them, they only employ those in the biological sciences as safety professionals. What I hate about my fellow bioscientists is that you swallow every rubbish your lecturers feed you hook, line & sinker without any evidence to show for it, you see things written/drawn in your textbooks and you believe that's how it will be in real life (Nigeria). Its not until I got into the labour market that I began to realise that not all we were told in school holds water in real life. The comment you wrote above shows you are just a student. Mr. Man better wise up! the nigerian labour market is not as rosy as your lecturers are painting it. |

McCoded007: If you reaaly want to do biz on nairaland, you need to update and reply ur posts. Plzz hw much is your blue broadband modemDon't mind him. |
Justeenaleo: Tnx loadsPls when she gets there, she should plainly tell them her mission is to join them for employment opportunities & professional training. |
Justeenaleo: Please can u giv me d number, cos herbert macaulay way is quiet long,I mean d number of d addressNo. 443 Herbert Macaulay way. ICCON & IPAN are sharing the same address with NHIS. |
thug: thanks so much, i wentbthrough there website and biology is not one of the courses stated there as requirement for membershipI said (micro)biology. Biology can apply. Trust me i've been to their office in lagos |
thug: thanks so much for the info, do they have office or branch in abuja??Course materials will be sold for a small token. Check www.ipan.gov.ng for more info |
thug: is this institute also applicable to persons that study biolgy ![]() |
thug: is this institute also applicable to persons that study biolgyYes it applies to (micro)biology, (bio)chemistry etc. Its just 5k for registration, 2yr course work + 1yr internship. Its a Post-nysc stuff |
Justeenaleo: Ok am close to herbert macaulay way,I will suggest that to her,tnx a bunch,is it possible for me to just go there and submit the CV for her or will she be d one to go thr?She should go there herself, register with them, get trained & write their professional exams. If she passes, she'll be inducted and her CV will requested from her, she'll be recommended & given insider info about employment opportunities provided by senior members or government organisations. Same process with IPAN ie institute of public analysts of nigeria. |
She can also try institute of public analysts of nigeria. Its another professional body that can help. Their training is 3yrs but she'll benefit because they also recommend people they train for employment. |
Justeenaleo: Industrial chemistry tech, btw am a novince,I jst wanna do sumfin nice for her,I knw nofin bout all is tho,so patienceEhya! The stuff wey I get na for mcbites ie microbiologists. Anyway sha let her get professional training from the institute of chartered chemists of nigeria. They'll collect her CV & recommend her if she is really good. Their office is in lagos NHIS building Herbert macaulay way, yaba. |
Don't be offended if you think am asking too many questions. It is necessary for clarification to be made so that appropriate help can be rendered. |
Justeenaleo: Ok,its industrial*sighs* is it industrial chemistry tech, industrial microbiology tech or industrial physics & electronics tech? Which one? |
Inweh Akpevwe: yes oº°˚˚˚°. Ppl don dey resume small small.Lectures don start? |
Justeenaleo: The thing is,all I know is she studied science lab and technology so I really don't know her area of specialisation but I bet she can work with anything that concerns what she studiedNope! She can't. Laboratory requirements, protocols & expertise are different for each of the fields involved in science lab tech. Medical is different from industrial, environmental or even food. Each has different professionals under them. The science courses under science lab tech are chemistry, microbiology & physics and individuals under each have different training & orientation. Which one she fit do? That's my question. |
Una don resume? |
