cowleg: I deactivated the handle, coz I notice I put up several classified info and my user name is popular among people who know me.for now, am into hustling tinz. adequate funding is needed to achieve some goals you can also broaden your search light to port harcourt, if its convenient for you |
cowleg: Marvelling nawa.ooo long time, you remember me that med lab science dude... I always see you for microbiology thread, your love for mcb knows.no bound.. I appreciate your entusiasm towards mcb..yeah i remember you, what happened to your other handle? your idea is very good, infact i encourage you not to relent. most food/beverage/pharmaceutical companies that employ microbiologists as quality control officers are located in lagos. unless you see a place in the east, lagos-ogun state axis will be a good place to start |
AmegoA: Thanks for the info. Pls can you help me with those acronyms in your post?ok, NIMR is the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, which is located at yaba NIOMR is the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography & Marine Research, which is located on victoria island FIIRO is the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, which located at Oshodi you can google them to find out their websites and exact address. each of these institutes regularly organise training workshops and programmes for individuals and they also recruit every 3-4 years, so be on the look out. you can get more info by visiting their sites |
MuhdG: thank you very muchwhenever you buy something, just concentrate on the utility derived ie satisfaction you get from it and forget about everything else. It'll make you feel better. |
MuhdG: thank you very muchyou are welcome |
MuhdG: Hi guys. I've been battling. With this issue for sometimes now. I love shopping for clothes. At the shop or supermarket I love what I've chosen to buy, but once I've paid for it and returned home, i just begin to hate myself and that which i have bought.its called buyer's remorse. I used to have it too. Whenever I pay for a good or service, I begin to think of the alternative foregone and end up regretting that I made the purchase. I used to think it was my innate stinginess until I got enlightened. Its mainly psychological and you can overcome it. Check this link for more info en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buyer's_remorse |
Sure, I'm interested.
cool you are one of the few MCbites I've met that don't mind doing research professionally. Fortunately there are quite a number of research institutes in Nigeria (government owned) that enlist the services of microbiologists. You could be on the look out for employment opportunities when available in these institutes. Only NIMR, NIOMR & FIIRO are located in lagos. The rest are scattered round the country. |
Jman06: It's funny that you readily remembered that graduates of MLS are called 'scientists' in other parts of the world, but refused to mention (or ignorant of) the fact that in those countries too, practice of medical laboratory science is not monopolized by graduates MLS. In the US and UK for instance, graduates of biomedical sciences such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology etc are usually admitted into internship programs that qualify them for award of associate membership of institutes of medical laboratory science(AIMLS) and to practice laboratory science. Before now, we used to have that in Nigeria. But the medical laboratory council of Nigeria out of sheer greed, cancelled that program and now exclude graduates of related fields from being registered to practice. Now, to answer your question, ofcourse i will feel great so long as the Biochemist does a good job. Afterall if you go to many hospitals today, you will still find many Biochemists who were registered prior to the embargo excellently doing their jobs. Like i stated earlier, the problem is not that those guys ain't good, but that the so called medical lab scientists are simply GREEDY. Not that i care much cos i have since choosen a different career path, but i pity those of you that will still want to come and do Msc or PhD in my department. Nothing for una here!1000 likes! Don't mind them, they don't want to be oppressed yet they oppress others. |
YourHealthlabs: You are ignorant. The medical Laboratory Science field is a regulated one . In the U.S they are called Clinical Laboratory Scientists, in U.K they addressed as Biomedical Scientists, In Aussie the title is Medical Scientist. All in all, they Scientists. It is a global trend.arrant nonsense! Mtschew! |
Initially I wanted to focus on the medical aspect of MCB but in recent years Medical Lab. Scientists seem to be preferred in that field. So I'm considering the Industrial aspect for now before I can further my studies.
the issue with MLSCN is being handled with kids gloves, those guys know they can take microbiologists for a ride and block us from being involved with the healthcare system, afterall the law that brought them into existence enables them to do so.as for industrial, its good, it is usually offered as food/industrial or industrial/environmental, at the Msc level, depending on the taste of the student offering it. Anyway, i suggest you set yourself up with something rather than slave away for some company for peanuts. if you can source for funds, i suggest you go into production of yeast, starter culture for yogurt or mushroom farming/mushroom spawn production. we need out of the box thinking to survive in this sh.i.t hole called nigeria. by the way, are you interested in having a career as a research scientist? |
Please what job opportunities are available for fresh graduates of Microbiology (B.Sc.)?
lol welcome to nigeria! what area do you want to specialize in? or are you the anywhere belle face type? ![]() answer the questions first before i talk more |
zicoraads: Not just that...u find very foolish and senseless topics there too. They recycle...bring subjects that are long dead and gone and paste it there. I wonder if the MODs are even doing thr jobs. Even scam threads get to FP now..its pathetic. I guess just like most pple...Seun seems to be overwhelmed with the money he is making so he no longer cares what happens here. Yesterday was Sunday and no single thread on religion got to FP. At a point I felt the MODs were sleeping cos it was baffling. But on a serious note, I think whoever is in charge of posting topics on front page should just resign! Even if its seun himself, he should step down and handover management to a more competent team of individuals that will do a better job. |
