Nairaland GeneralRe: VIDEO: How To Tell If Hard Drive Is Dead And How To Recover Its Contents by marvelouso: 12:36pm On May 27, 2020
efogator:
Actually, it is quite important to know if your hard drive is dead before you decide to fix it or recover data from a dead hard drive. The most common dead hard drive symptoms are as below:

Corrupted areas on your hard drive

If you ever try to access files stored in these areas, your computer might respond by freezing. When frozen, a computer will not respond for several minutes. Its hardware devices such as the mouse and keyboard keys and all the active programs on the taskbar might get dormant.

If you shut down and restart your computer, the problem should be resolved itself to indicate that your disk is fine. But if the computer freezes again when trying to access files on the drive, the drive could soon fail.

Irregular computer maintenance

One thing that will indicate a rarely maintained computer is slow processing speed and lengthy boot sessions. It is imperative to run a disk defragmentation program once or twice a month to boost your computer. If you always do this and your computer is getting slower every day, your hard drive may die any day.

Mechanical damage

If your hard drive’s head crashes, it will no longer read, write or store data properly. You can tell that your disk has a mechanical fault by listening to the noises it makes when running. If you hear grinding, clicking or scraping noises, that’s a sign that the read-write head is scratched and damaged.

Tips for Dead Hard Drive Recovery

• If you discover that your hard disk is unresponsive, try to plug it on another computer to check if it’s really dead.
• Find reputable and effective software like Recoverit Data Recovery. Follow simple instructions to retrieve your data.
• If you cannot manually troubleshoot your dead hard drive, and recover data from it, consult a computer technician in your area.
• But if you can do it yourself, obtain every tool you will require before you start the process.

A dead hard drive can be worrying, as some of the lost data may be extremely important. However, you should not worry unless the lost files were corrupt. You can recover data from dead hard drive in full. These files can be retrieved in full.

But if you are currently not facing a dead hard disk drive, back up your data to be on the safer place. The easiest way to recover your data from a dead disk is via a bootable CD/DVD of Recoverit data recovery software.

i keep it real, forget that US based account thing, as long as you have the right skill to sell i dont see any reason why you should fake your location, the funny thing is that majority of freelancers are not even americans, Being from US does not in any way give you an edge(in my own niche), you stand a better chance as an asian (especially phillipines, because thats where the majority of upwork freelancers are from).

In conclusion, your location does not count
thank you sir I'm saying i opened an US account and i've done few jobs on an Architectural Niche there but i'm having issues withdrawing my money........... don't know the means of withdrawing cos i'M not seeing payoneer as an option

Here is my testimony on freelancing;

i have always known about freelancing and upwork ever since my university days but never took it seriously or pictured it as a source of income, not until after my NYSC, when reality dawned upon me that i had to irk out a living for myself. Graduating in the buhari era was not funny at all, the recession had kicked in strongly with cost of living on the rise, i spent a lot of jobless months in my fathers house receiving insults from parents who were obviously tired of fending for me, all my efforts to get a job even if it was a menial one proved abortive, frustration slowly kicked in but i had to resist it, either by book or crook i vowed to make a way for myself, even in the midst of the recession people were still progressing, building structures and acquiring exotic properties, i just couldnt take that as an excuse.

Some how i managed to get a laptop and a mifi from a 'God sent' friend with the motive of going into yahoo yahoo or any other fraudulent means of getting money, little did i know that God had another plan all setup for me.

Anyway to cut the long story short, i had a change of mind about the 'yahoo' thing because deep down i knew that wasnt the way out for me.
A week later i opened my upwork account and luckily i got approved in no time, (i hear a lot of people complain about how hard it is to get an upwork account, as for me it was a very easy process, maybe because of the niche i applied for)

On Approval of my account, i went ahead to apply for jobs but i got no reply till about 3 days later when my very first client 'James Talton' initiated a conversation with me on one of the jobs i applied for, Being a newbie to the game i felt a bit nervous because that was the very first message i received from a potential client on upwork. We started getting along as he told me all his requirements and how he wanted them met, and i kept giving him polite and direct answers being overtly careful not to say anything that would deter me from winning his heart and landing the job, Just after a few minutes of conversation i saw an offer request pop up on the conversation screen, i was actually numb for a few seconds because the whole experience was new to me and i didnt know exactly what to do and how to do it, i just applied common sense (that i believe every learned person should have), read the terms and accepted the offer.

That was how i landed my first job on upwork, it was a $60 fixed price job, not an easy one though but i had to do everything possible to leave my newly found client smiling. it took me about four days to get the job done exactly as the client stated,i was given a week deadline so i still had reasonable time on my side but my urge to satisfy the client by finishing the work in lesser time couldn't stop me from submitting immediately and request approval of my very first milestone.

All this while i kept wondering how the money would get to me. i read about all the payment methods available then i opted for the direct to my local bank option(which i used my zenith bank account). i requested for my first withdrawal immediately after the four days it takes for the funds to appear on your timeline. i read all the instructions and did everything just exactly how i was instructed then waited for a miracle to happen.

To my amazement i received an SMS alert on my phone of the exact naira equivalent of the withdrawal i requested for in less than 10minutes. YES believe me when i say 10 minutes because thats exactly what happened, i was so amazed, the whole experience was so new to me. one unique thing about my upwork experience was that i never seeked enquiries from anybody. it was all an experiment i did all by myself.

From then on, i kept submitting job proposals tirelessly and landing jobs (no matter how small) till the day i met my very surest client (names withheld) and ever since then i have been smiling to the bank constantly. Some timid neighbors be thinking i'm a yahoo boy, i feel so sorry for them.

As of today 21st of november 2017, after 7 months of constant freelancing (since may), i can proudly boast that i have made millions from freelancing and the good thing is that the recession has been an advantage to freelancers this buhari era due to the high exchange rate, I make all my withdrawals at N332.143 per dollar. Presently i was hired by a Construction company in New york and i have been in charge of all their major estimating works since September.

I cant keep hiding this secret from my fellow Nigerians out there because it is too good to be true (anyway it is for those whom it may concern). Now i earn more and work at my own pace without having to answer 'sir' or 'ma' to anybody. isnt that cool?

Just yesterday i became TOP RATED on upwork and i feel so proud to have achieved such heights before the year ends, it took a lot of hard work and dedication, i had to deny myself of so many frivolities, when some of my friends were out partying i'll be in the house working for my clients.

At the moment, i am happy to say that i have moved out of my fathers house to an apartment of my own, own a cool ride, taking care of my girlfriend and our kid, with intentions of getting married next year. 2017 was a good year for me indeed, i dont intend to quit freelancing any time soon because it is my full time job. i keep wondering which job will pay me at least $1500 monthly (with the current exchange rate) if not an oil company job.

My Advice to upcoming freelancers Coming soon.

Nice.

If you are into writing and your proposals are not error free, you are very correct. So many Nigerians are into writing. I don't like writing, so I usr my work experience and it's being paying off. If anyone is not really good in writing, choose other skill or skills in which you know you can deliver well.

On your questions, I normally use direct transfer to my Nigeria account @ 332/$. I get alert within 15 mins of ordering for payment. Fast and easy.

2: go to the eye clinic, see an optician. Get the recommended glasses.
do you do this with a Nigerian based account on upwork
