Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) advice for the public

Basic protective measures against the new coronavirus
Stay aware of the latest information on the COVID-19 outbreak, available on the WHO website and through your national and local public health authority. COVID-19 is still affecting mostly people in China with some outbreaks in other countries. Most people who become infected experience mild illness and recover, but it can be more severe for others. Take care of your health and protect others by doing the following:

Wash your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.

Practice respiratory hygiene
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.

If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.

Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider
Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.

Protection measures for persons who are in or have recently visited (past 14 days) areas where COVID-19 is spreading
Follow the guidance outlined above.
Stay at home if you begin to feel unwell, even with mild symptoms such as headache and slight runny nose, until you recover. Why? Avoiding contact with others and visits to medical facilities will allow these facilities to operate more effectively and help protect you and others from possible COVID-19 and other viruses.
If you develop fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical advice promptly as this may be due to a respiratory infection or other serious condition. Call in advance and tell your provider of any recent travel or contact with travelers. Why? Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also help to prevent possible spread of COVID-19 and other viruses.

Politics / David Lyon Was Sacrificed To Compensate PDP Over Ihedioha’s Sack – Barrister by marviessss(m): 7:32pm On Feb 18, 2020
The National Coordinator of the Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, Barrister Olusegun Bamgbose, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, sacrificed the Bayelsa State governor-elect, David Lyon to pacify the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the loss of Imo State
He, however, said that the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole, was kept in the dark as to the APC plan to surrender Bayelsa State to PDP as a form of ‘compensation’.
The DAILY POST reported on Thursday that a five man panel of the Supreme Court held that Lyon’s deputy, Degi-Eremieoyo presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
For this reason, the governor-elect and his deputy were sacked by the apex court a day to their swearing-in as the fifth governor of Bayelsa State.
Supreme Court sacks Bayelsa Gov-elect, Lyon, declares PDP winner

For Barrister Bamgbose, the ruling was arranged by the ruling party to calm the nerves of the opposition in Imo State.
Speaking with DAILY POST on Monday morning, the Lagos-based senior lawyer, said, “The Supreme Court judgment in favour of PDP candidate Duoye Diri, Bayelsa State, was a calculated and a strategic attempt to pacify PDP for the loss of Imo State.
“The judgment was a big shock to PDP because they possibly thought they have lost out in Bayelsa.
“However critical appraisal of the judgment has shown clearly that it was meant to calm down nerves and pacify PDP for the loss of Imo State to APC recently at the Supreme Court “Ihedioha can as well fort forget about returning to Government House as Governor of Imo State. The review sought by him, no matter the weight, won’t see the light of the day.
“Let him bid goodbye to his ambition for now. One seriously doubts the feasibility of reviewing the matter in his favour. The APC was highly instrumental in perfecting this plan.
“The International Community have been showing interest in the case but as it stands now, the game is over.
“PDP has been ‘politically settled’ and certainly they won’t be protesting even if it loses at the Supreme Court in respect of the review case.
“Oshiomole was actually kept in the dark as to the APC plan to surrender Bayelsa State to PDP as a form of ‘compensation’.
“However it should be stated here that this is not good for our political growth.
“The Judiciary should be independent. There should be no interference whatsoever in the discharge of its functions and responsibilities. There must be clear separation of powers.”

Sports / 5 Players Who Could Leave Manchester City This Summer & Where They Might End Up by marviessss(m): 7:21pm On Feb 18, 2020
Well, well, well. None of us saw this coming.

And while all hope isn't quite lost for Manchester City following their two-season ban from European competitions - given they have the opportunity to appeal the decision - some of their stars may have one eye on the exit door already.

A lot of people may be ranting and raving about Pep Guardiola parachuting his way out of England this summer, with Juventus looking an increasingly cosy proposition, but maybe it's the wealth of talent on the pitch that will be first out to leave.

Without further ado, let's tuck in to who may flee the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Kevin De Bruyne

The Belgian can consider himself hard done by not to find himself with another Premier League trophy in his cabinet this season - with the exception of a miracle, of course.

De Bruyne has been in the form of his life, and has a league-high 15 assists this campaign so far - five more than any other player, five shy of Thierry Henry's Premier League record. The 28-year-old has well and truly hit his peak, and may be seeking an elusive Champions League title before his legs don't quite work like they used to before.

The good thing for De Bruyne is that every single club in the world - without fail - would chew their own arm off to get a hold of him. Ready yourselves for an almighty scrap for the midfielder's services...

Possible Destinations: Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona

Sergio Aguero

Arguably the greatest striker the Premier League has ever had the pleasure of witnessing, thiscould be Aguero's last season in the English top flight. Just let that sink in.

So often the Citizens' saviour, Aguero vowed he would stay at the Etihad until his beloved side won the Champions League. However, the 31-year-old has also stated that he would love to finish his career with boyhood Argentinian club Independiente.

It seems a dilemma is on the horizon for the forward.

The attacker could be 34 by the time City were next able to compete for Europe's top prize, and who knows what kind of state the club will be in by then. Logic dictates that Aguero may want to leave the Etihad on a high, and you can't blame him given his loyal years of service.
Possible Destinations: Independiente, Barcelona

Leroy Sané

A source had told 90min that Sane and Bayern Munich are keen to sort a summer transfer as soon as possible, and news of the ban should help proceedings.

The 24-year-old is entering his defining years as a player, and will likely want to abandon City's sinking ship in a bid to become one of the world's best attackers.

Well, at least things haven't gone too badly this season without the injured Germa...oh, no.

Possible Destinations: Bayern Munich

Ederson

Similar to Andy Murray in an era of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, Ederson has mad the misfortune of having to battle with Alisson for Brazil's number one jersey, having to battle with Jan Oblak and Marc-Andre ter Stegen to be the best in the world.

In a bid to win the starting berth between Brazil's goalposts and further his reputation, the 26-year-old may seek greener grass this summer. Just like De Bruyne, Ederson wouldn't be short of suitors.

Possible Destinations: Real Madrid, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain

Raheem Sterling

Is a return to Liverpool on the cards? No, absolutely not. They really hate him on Merseyside.

However, the Englishman has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent seasons - which all started at Anfield - with the 25-year-old capable of challenging the world's best players on his day. But while it's difficult to foresee Sterling being content with two whole seasons away from the Champions League, it's equally as difficult to see him playing for anyone else.

One thing to remember is that Sterling has previously spoken about his 'dream' of playing abroad, and he may not get a better opportunity to fulfil his ambitions.
