Realme's GT2 series went global last week, but most of the attention went to the more premium GT2 Pro. But the GT2, which just arrived at HQ, is just as great as its peer in many aspects and is much cheaper to boot.

Let's get an unboxing out of the way, and then we'll talk differences. Like with the Realme GT2 Pro, the GT2 arrives with a 65W charger, USB cable, and a case that's cool, sure, but feels particularly cheap. The case acquired a few scuffs in the first minutes of its service, which isn't reassuring.

Now, here are two images of the Realme GT2 Pro next to the GT2. Both in Paper Green, the two phones appear nearly identical. The tiny 0.08-inch difference in screen estate isn't immediately noticeable. The slightly lower quality panel of the GT2's screen is a bit more evident, though.

The phones feel about the same, which is a win for the GT2, which has a plastic frame and yet feels as quality as the metal GT2 Pro.

Looking at their specs comparison, the GT2 Pro has the upper hand in processing thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 over the Snapdragon 888, and the GT2 Pro has the world's widest ultrawide and a rare 3MP microscope camera to the GT2's regular ultrawide and macro.

But the Realme GT2 has the same 50MP main camera, the same 5,000mAh battery, and the same 65W charging. It's also available in the same 8/128GB and 12/256GB variants, but one is €200 cheaper, while the other is €250 cheaper - that makes the GT2 a much better deal.

And can we just take a moment to applaud Realme for their choice of color with the Realme GT2? Like its more expensive counterpart, the GT2 has the same specially developed bio-based polymer back material that mimics the feel of paper, but it's the pastel appearance of the color that really catches your eye. Also, it's fresh in the sea of recent Black and White drab phones we've had at the office lately.

The Realme GT2 is an excellent value proposition, especially in the European market. It has Realme's well polished UI and very capable hardware sourced from the industry's best.

Xiaomi will announce the global rollout of its 12-series flagships next week on March 15. You have already seen what the phones look like, more or less, the global versions will have only minor cosmetic changes as seen in leaked renders (e.g. a 5G label on the back).

Here’s another look at the images, this times without watermarks, courtesy of SnoopyTech. The leakster also has pricing info for Europe for the Xiaomi 12 series, as well a the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G. This last one launched in India today and we hadn’t heard that it’s coming to Europe as well.

Let’s start with the Xiaomi 12 Pro. According to Snoopy, it will cost €1,100-1,200 depending on the memory configuration. The Mi 11 Pro skipped Europe last year, so we can’t make a direct price comparison, but the new Pro is pricey.

The Xiaomi 12 is more reasonable with an €850-900 price, but that’s still €100 more than the Mi 11 cost last year for the same memory configuration.

If that seems too pricey, the Xiaomi 12X is almost the same phone with a Snapdragon 870 instead of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. That’s a two generation gap in performance, but also a lot of money saved as well – the 12X will allegedly cost €650-700.

This is assuming these leaked prices are correct, of course, but they seem to line up with the price leak from last week.

As for the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, that one will be even cheaper with a price in the €460-500 range. We have the prices for the different memory configurations in a table below.

The Samsung Galaxy A73 is expected to arrive soon, and its first alleged image appeared online. It reveals an Infinity-O display, super-slim bezels on all sides, and a visible protruding power key on the side, effectively confirming the AMOLED screen with a fingerprint scanner underneath.

The screen looks pretty much like the predecessor Galaxy A72, as well as the Galaxy A53 leaked earlier. However, there are tiny differences in the ratio, meaning the Galaxy A73 will be slightly bigger than its A50 series sibling.

Samsung already held two Unpacked events this year, but none of them had Galaxy A smartphones. The A50 and A70 series usually arrive together, and the next generation is likely to follow suit. Given how often we see leaks, the Galaxy A73 and its smaller sibling Galaxy A53 launch is most likely to happen in the next 3-4 weeks.

Last year’s Huawei 9a has just been announced in South Africa. But the device is arriving as Nova 9a, which makes it the smaller version of the vanilla Nova 9. It is offered in a notch-less 6.63-inches IPS screen with 1080 x 2400 pixels. The phone utilizes a motorized pop-up on which the selfie camera is kept, making the display completely distraction free.


The model has 8GB RAM, and a 128-Gigs of built-in storage. The CPU is paired with Mali-G52, and it has a space for an external Nano Memory card to the tone of 256GB.

Camera system on the Nova 9a includes four lenses on the rear, while the selfie snapper is a 16-megapixels sensor. The rear shooters includes a 64-megapixel primary lens, 8-megapixel ultrawide, and two other 2MP lenses for depth and macro captures, along with four LED flash.

US-focused Blu Mobile have just announced an affordable smartphone that is powered by an 8-core UNISOC SC9863 CPU, 2GB RAM and a 4000mAh battery. Blu G51s is the company’s latest affordable smartphone for the US market. It comes in a 6.4-inches compact screen that mounts a 720 x 1560 pixels resolution.


The G51s comes in a single 2GB RAM with 32GB ROM, but the internal storage is expandable, to the tone of 64GB via SD-card. The UNISOC CPU on the inside gets assistance from PowerVR GE8322 GPU, and with the presence of Google Android 11 (Go Edition), Blu believes that apps should run moderately fast on the device.

No special record breaking camera setup here! The rear has two sensors; a 13-megapixel main snapper, paired with a secondary depth shooter and a single LED flash, while the frontal selfie duty is handled by a single 8-megapixel lens.


The Blu G51s is entirely built into a plastic body that measures 162.4 x 77.5 x 9 mm, weighing about 185 grams. The rear textured back has a fingerprint scanner, and the aforementioned 4000mAh battery with 10W charger is held within the body. The battery is charged over a USB-C interface, and the device offers Hybrid Dual Nano-SIMs with 4G LTE network.

In a bid to meet all users taste and style, the Blu G51s is painted in four vibrant colors, including Bronze, Olive Green, Red and Gradient Blue. We know the phone will be sold in the US, but we could not pick out by how much as at writing.

TCL have just announced a new entry-level smartphone in the European market. The TCL 305 is a 6.52-inches device that is powered by MediaTek’s Helio A22 quad-core CPU. Obviously, buying this device won’t be due to it processing prowess, but probably battery capacity.

The model is powered by a 5000mAh battery, and there is a 10W charging system for refueling sake. The TCL 305 is available in a single 2GB RAM, but paired with either 32/64GB ROM that gets an extra 512GB external card support.


Interestingly, TCL has given the 305 smartphone three camera sensors on the rear. Of these three, the main snapper is a 13-megapixel lens with PDAF and f/2.2 aperture, along with two auxiliary 2-megapixel sensors for macro and depth gymnastics. 5-megapixel selfie lens is on the front, and both sides are capable of 1080p video recording.
