A musical collaborative effort in my believe, is a means of passing the same message using different techniques. For years now, the music industry has fostered collaborative tracks between artistes who are waylaid in different genres. These artistes put their finely-honed talents to work for us creating good music for our consumption. However, as music is a way to pass across a message to its listeners, we have seen some really talented act mess up on a collaborative effort (not getting the message the owner is trying to pass, or just intentionally ignoring it) so bad, it makes one wonder, why they became popular in the first place. Here are 5 collaborations the featured artiste missed the point. 1. Pack and Go - Seyi Shay Ft Olamdie: I had this song on my playlist for weeks, at a point, i became like a menace with it to my colleagues. So, basically, the song is about Miss Seyi, having had enough of the battering, pain, betrayals and everything likened to the eventual breakup of a famous US musical couple's relationship, asked that the said man, leave her be Seyi Shay: ‘Oya pack and go, carry your Ghana must go….Oga do I look like Rihanna, Kini Mo se fun eh, do I look l.ike Rihanna….I get beats by Dre, I no want beats by Chris, I go see you later.’ Catch the drift right…then Olamide comes in and sang this; "Like Saraki, I got you like Kwara and Ilorin, come over baby girl no need to worry, ma lo gor. Ma lo fa ke kori (baby girl don’t dull, don’t prove stubborn) let them say what they like…Like Jagaban I got you like Lagos, let them do what they like, but they can’t break us, everyone out there tryna imitate us…our love is on auto…am here to stay, there is no one lese…so fun nigga smello yen go gba left(Tell that smelling dude to leave), need I say more people. Shout out to Pheelz on the beat…amaaaaaaaazing job! Read more: http://tooxclusive.com/editorial/5-nigerian-collaborations-featured-artiste-missed-point/ |
Yes, as ladies, we have so many things we worry about when its time to go on our first date with that one dude, who finally looked our way. From hair, to makeup to the appropriate outfit for the date, the list is endless on our worries for the perfect first date. However, there is a particular thing most girls do not place on that list, the food to order. So many ladies, do not see this as a necessity, but you will be shocked to know just how many ladies have lost the chance of dating a guy due to the food that they ordered on their first date together. Now, get this, I know some of us will want to argue that a man who wants you must accept everything about you, but no darling, not on a first date. First date is like the intro to knowing if a second date could happen before eventually deciding on Okay fine, lets start a relationship. Having said that, here are 8 Nigerian foods every lady must steer clear off on a first date. 8 Nigerian food never to order on a first date Beans: from moi-moi, to akara to whatever meal beans is used in making, ladies, please do steer clear. Art is creative, we all know that, but when that creativity is taken to the extreme, birthing names which are not only insulting but weird, then its another thing all together. Through the course of music time, we have been plagued and bamboozled with song titles which takes time to decipher the meaning (if we ever do). Most of these songs are guaranteed attention grabbers due to their rhythm and melody, but sometimes, most of them lack substantial messages we can hold on to. Here are 5 Nigerian songs with weird titles. ola Konkonbility/Olamide: There is a solid chance that you already know entire story contained in this cornball of a mess from the title. For those who do not, Konkobility, mostly used by the few educated elderly Yoruba men to chastise an erring person simply means a daft and sad example for a person. This song which is meant to be a love-ish kind of song, did a perfect job in obliterating the fine line between sweet and gross. From the song title, to the single's artwork, just one message can be gotten from this, an egocentric young man, not ready to take no for an answer, and instead of letting things go, he'd rather stalk the poor lady. I know this isn’t really a serious song, but again, why? For the first time in a long time, Olamide made me laugh, Even more when I actually realized he was indeed trying really hard to be funny and cute. A prog rap-hip hop artistes making an attempt at surrealism, ehnnn nah! Shokolo-Bangoshe Shokolo bangose/Sam Klef: Another example of the way most artistes insult our intelligence with their work. Yet another sad example and lame love-ish kind of song (I think). Now, as popular as this phrase seems to be on the street and even in some fun filled homes, till date, no one can actually put two and two together to bring out the actually meaning. Imagine our surprise when extremity was reached and Sam Klef decided on sticking with this as a title to his latest song. Funnily, the title sounds just like the song. In one word, the song title which reared its ugly head in the song, made the likes of some other extreme song titles look like classics. With more and more new acts trooping with some barging their way into the music industry on a daily basis and the established one currently roped in legal battles with their erstwhile labels, it was about time for this question to be asked. There is no denying the fact that record labels provide artistes with a security blanket that can not be belittled or pushed aside. They ensure the distribution, promotion, studio session, shooting of videos with sometimes the best of the best in that area and so on and so forth. However, when you delve deeper into the belly of these deals, it only becomes clearer that after scrimping and making sure you are heard in what could only be termed as a whisper, finally giving rise to a forced single (on the artiste's part) and maybe 2 minutes video where you are pushed around by the director who feels he is doing you a favor, you realize, your bank account still has the same three zeros just perfect to make a mickey mouse head. Truth be told, everyone is in it to gain financial freedom and security. Read more: http://tooxclusive.com/editorial/are-record-labels-still-a-necessity-in-todays-music-industry/ |

Yes, yes, I know many people who totally love to see a more charged up sexual female artistes performing, grinding and doing what not just to entertain the crowd, while on stage. I know, and yes, sometimes, I love to see a 'Sasha Fierce' kinda act too on stage. However, the expected bad girl image sometimes isn't always what female artistes need to sell their music. In fact, there are some female artistes who in all their glory are good girls, but in a bid to satisfy majority of their fan base, opt for the bad girl image, and you know the exciting thing about it, they do so without as much as totally pushing the good girl side of them out. Here are 5 Nigerian female artistes who have redefined the good girl gone bad image with their songs. tiwa-Savage- Tiwa Savage: We all first fell head on heels in love with Tiwa with her Kele Kele love song, she portrayed the no nonsense yet lovelorn kinda girl, setting the stage for sexiness in all nigerian female artiste video..we all saw the 'sexiness' in leotards right? Then she did' Ife wa gbono' and some other songs, stamping her foot down as a lover/girl next day artiste. Realizing just how much deeply rooted her love is in our hearts, she switched things up again, letting us know she is queen and has the power to subtly yet powerfully do that. Strutting and flaunting her perfectly 'Lit' body, Tiwa dropped wanted, and in came several mouth staying wide open with a prominently dumb look sitting on several of the faces. My jaw dropped out of sheer surprise and happiness when I saw this video. Tiwa cuts across as the quintessential 'Good girl', sexy and even sexual when the need be, a devout mom (grand introduction of Jamil), and the perfect artiste who maintains an impeccable public image. However, Tiwa has also created the ultimate version of herself, working extra hard to maintain the most impeachable version of Tiwa she can ever be. Mama knows the game and has totally redefined the good girl gone bad image. Read more: http://tooxclusive.com/editorial/5-nigerian-female-artistes-who-redefine-the-good-girl-gone-bad-image/

Nigerians are known for their love for partying thus our deep interest in groovy music and new dance moves. Today, we will be bringing 10 dance songs that gets our adrenaline pumping beyond normal, which in turn makes every inch of our being sway or bump without apologies and our mouth spit out lyrics like they were implanted in us from birth. Here are top 10 songs that instantly makes us wanna turn up. Olamide/Bobo: Not only did this talented artiste successfully build a cult amongst the people for himself, he has for years kept that cult and any other non-believer interested and grooving with his songs. With 'Bobo', Olamide, re-registered his presence and might in the hearts of all, making certain that we are know he rules the dance songs game. He is known as one of the most consistent artistes in the business, not just consistent, but an artiste who drops bangers after bangers without so much as breaking a sweat. From the beat, to the easily downloaded and assimilated lyrics, Olamide's Bobo, takes the top spot in dance songs that instantly makes us wanna turn up! 2. Lil Kesh/Efejoku: Just like his 'Big daddy" in the game, this young 'Lyrically' born baby boy is a wonder when it comes to turn up songs. With Lil Kesh's prowess in making the stiffest of waist suddenly become flexinle, I am certain the mantra for the YBNL gang, present and EX, is to ensure that Nigerians have a escape route from all their pain, hurt and disappointment, and that place is none other than the YBNL Music sanctuary. Efejoku, another hit from Lil Kesh, is a beautiful dance song, but of course why won't it be when he keeps yelling crazy alcohol riddled lyrics neatly placed on a well made beats, at you. 'Emi ti yo bai,mi o de le gboron mo....Efejoku ni, efe efe joku ni o, skibo!!! 'This song instantly makes us wanna turn. No, I am not Mistakenly and Yes, I know it's not Valentine, but let's think this 'true,' Isn't life itself love? Don't we all listen to a love song (in whatever genre) at least, once a day? Do we not profess love to one another everyday? Love, to different people can be explained using all the figures of speech there is in English. For some of us, a good love song should be poetic, passionate, thoughtful and ridiculously rhythmic. Am that type of person who wants to smile, sway my head with a predominantly blank look in my eye while I listen. Yes, I love a good love song that keeps me dazed for the few minutes it plays. There are obviously a lot of love songs by powerful artistes in the country, but here are the top six whose love song lyrics makes me a Penny from the Big Bang Theory in one minute and a Sheldon Cooper in the next. 1. Banky W/Made For You: Yes, he tops my list and am certain it doesn't come as a surprise to many. He is a lover boy as reflected in most of his hit songs. However, his ability to pen poetic, passionate, thought and sometimes ridiculously purple lyrics for most of his songs is why he is number one on this list. Nailed lyrics: Baby have been searching for my only one and you made me feel like my life has just began, am so glad I found you now, my work is done and its perfect mathematics when two become one......Just like the stars were made to like the sky and like the pretty birds were made to fly, like the sun was made to shine and the moon was made for nigh, like the sky is blue...baby I was made for you. Even as some of the lines were sweetly cheesy, Banky was still able to nail A Simple yet thought provoking compassionate Love song. Still feeling like I do not know what i'm saying, I dare you to listen to this song right now and see if you will not have that Winston Bishop/Schmidt's kinda goofy and sometimes serious look at the end. 2. Timi Dakolo/ The Vow: Even if Timi Dakolo sings a lullaby, it still passes off as an highly intelligent/tear jerking/heartwarming love song, Yes, he has that effect on us. His power to provoke sheer joy, thankfulness and happiness so sweetly is beautiful. Timi Dakolo perfectly defined companionship between two genuine hearts with this track. Nailed Lyrics: Say life is like a journey, it's full of ups and down, no matter what you go through, I'll always be around. We'll take our hopes and dreams turn them to reality, together...Forever is just a start, forever is you and me. Timi's message here is a reassurance of his love, trust and devotion to his wife, which of course is reminiscent of most of his works, and that's just enough for us. Nigerians are music lovers which makes music to most of us life and life as we all know is constantly changing. We have been opportuned to come across brilliant musicians who in their own little way have been able to put that spark back in our lives with their music. As we all know music is a melting pot of culture and style, and these young artistes have scooped, licked and swallowed just about enough to create just about the right amount of sugar coated yet natural food kinda music, for us to enjoy. Am I saying they would win international awards, be on stage with world renowned artistes and top Music industry executives? Hell Yes! Here are the top 6 young Nigerian artistes that should be on our radar, who are strongly yet gradually shouting their way into a wider ocean of audience. Please note, this list is in no particular order. Poe: This self-identified rap artistes could only be described as gifted. His ability to create visual/mental surprises with his words, is just amazing. To be truthful, I only discovered Poe, when he featured on Saeon's De Be Cypher, and I was immediately blown away by how creatively precise, clear and just down right brilliant he penned and raped his verse to tally magically with the whole concept of the song. I thought, if he could do this, let me break my own fragile heart by seeing just how much I have missed, thus began the journey. From his features on Falz's Chardonnay music and Marry Me, to his own single, 'Adore her', Poe can only be described as the magical wand that brings every wish made come to reality. Blessed with a raw yet confident voice which he meticulously uses to drive his points home on tracks, Poe, could only described as the 'Now' rap artiste. From his ability to coin words to make them look so easy to assimilate to joining disparate words something new which eventually comes out as a masterpiece, Poe in his brilliance just made rap sound more urgent and should definitely be on the radar of any good music lover. 2. Kiss Daniel: Kiss first wormed his way into our hearts with his catchy Woju track, and of course did not stop there. He dropped the remix, which truth be told was entirely unnecessary thus leading to some of our attention waning but again, he grasp our attention again with 'Laye, Molue, and his verse on Raba.' Not stopping there, he again reaffirmed his love in all our hearts with the song mama. Kiss Daniel's music is calmingly groovy and catchy, the kind of song, you'd rather listen to, when its time to take a break and chill. His vocals are entirely his as it forms a cool and embracing circle around its listeners. With his album, 'New Era' out now, I couldn't be more excited. (Fingers crossed though) Read more: http://tooxclusive.com/editorial/5-young-artistes-totally-radar/

ALBUM - KLITORIS ARTISTE - BRYMO PRODUCER - MIKKYME JOSSES DURATION - 35 MINUTES We all know him to be a connoisseur of good sound, yes that's like his mantra, Olawale Ashimi aka BrymO, is music personified! BrymO's third studio album 'Klitoris' is no doubt a reaffirmation that he is king of soul and even better, a grown man, lover and best friend. His ability to capture the very essence of the soul/RnB genre, making sure to add socio-political issues without as much as diverging from the core music itself is a beautiful effort at making sure that listeners attention did not wane throughout this album. Judging by the album title, we get the sensual vibes which I must confess was creatively embodied in the album, he did a fine job at arresting the soul and *what not* of everyone who would ever listen to this album. His story telling technique is beyond doubt not ordinary, as he masterfully passed forth his thoughts, philosophy and imaginations which I dare say 90 percent of the world's population can relate to. The greatness of the naked Klitoris lies in the contents as it was in its unique way able to stretch beyond the soul/ballad like genre parameters. This album in all its greatness, is totally beautiful. Naked: This song will for a very every long time put me in awe of this great man. His vocals on this track was is absolutely engaging, powerful, unmistakably brilliantly and hungry. His portrayal of being stripped naked and left with just his ego, can only be termed as one of the most powerful images one could imagine. BrymO lets us into some personal issues with this song as he made it clear that he stands for the truth and would clearly and majestically stay naked if need be, just to pass his message. After all, we all came into the world naked...yes he can stay naked and still work so hard to have himself clothed in truth and success. Esse's vocal on this was okay and one might say not entirely necessary but again, am believing this particular songs has a huge meaning to the couple and relates to most of us. Dem dey go: the production on this song was fantastic and BrymO's ability to stay atop the beat was noticeably strong. I particularly loved the drums I heard at the end of the track. Amazing and beautiful way to address the current boiling situation the country is in now. Happy Memories: Mid tempo, but somewhat hip hop(py). A track heavily ladden with lost love, which while it lasted was the happiest thing that happened to the couple. Ko S'aya mi: A lovely track where BrymO thought it best to first describe how beautiful and heavily endowed his girl of interest is before going into the main point, he would like to marry her. Not much is needed to say on this, judging from his kind of music, his poetic ability to create a sensual scenery was epic. Alajo Shomolu: This mid-tempo track was all in all a great effort from this brilliant artiste. BrymO, with his might and taste in good music was once more able to move me to tears with the demise of Fela. Afro Beat with socio-political story lines...Fela of course comes to mind first. He is the pioneer an BrymO, has for ears shown us just how inspired he is by this great man of music, thus bringing forth his glory on this track. Wonderful beat, even more wonderful story. His way of telling everyone that hard work does pay off in this leisure-inclined manner, is brilliant. Something Good Is Happening: Hollywood's 80's vibe, and he owned it. Hunger/power filled vocals, upbeat instrumentals, and just about enough swag to sexily sway to this work smart/hard, thanksgiving/brilliant swag themed track. Believe in yourself, brace up and just dance away your sorrow...something good is happening and it is mind blowing. Billion Naira Dream: Maintaining his slow/mid tempo beat, he swiftly whisks us to the next track.. Billion Naira dream. First thing I took from here was the Naira part. If it were some other artiste, am certain dollar would have been their first choice. BrymO, won me over already with this simple yet mighty word. Billion Naira Dream, is a reaffirmation that BrymO is a man of depth. His lyrics on this says it all. Again his story telling skill is majorly present in this track which was clearly stated. The Future is here and he is playing melodious tunes for us. Lets Make Love: just as the title of this track states, hat's how exact the lyric in it is. Beautiful deep and meaning. Mirage: My attention is yet to wane since the start of this album. Mirage, an emotionally need track. Loved the beautiful piano playing and fantastic vocal ability. Got me there BrymnO The Way The Cookie Crumbles: built on a well constructed reggae and electro beat...the way the cookie crumbles, makes a sober mind feel like its extremely intoxicated. Love! Love!! Love!!! The Girl From New York: the instrumentals at the beginning of the song made it feel like BrymO might have overstayed his welcome on my system and in my heart but again, he held on tightly to my attention...the song lasted 1.13 sec and had a simple message, a New York based girl wanting to know how much he is worth and if he can take care of her Brymo's major obviously enhanced strength in music making; smooth sui generis vocal prowess, invoking melodies, brilliant storytelling techniques, and artful arrangement, which was obviously very present also made it glaring that a lot of work went into making this album. The songs on this album were beautifully crafted making it possible for those who are not so into this genre of music, unknowingly find themselves all over it. His focused and consistent ability to always hit the sweet spot with his 'Naked Klitoris' music, leaves me in awe. Rating - 4.5/5 Reviewed by: Tope Delano @Tope_Delano |

His focused and consistent ability to always hit the sweet spot with his 'Naked Klitoris' music, leaves me in awe. Rating - 4.5/5 Reviewed by: Tope Delano @Tope_Delano |
I have always been the kind of person who loveeeeessss a good song and when I say a good song I mean a lasting, well written record, not the lazy lyric lased records being blasted everywhere. Now, am not in anyway saying I do not like those other kinds of song, but what can I say, me love deep nicely written and brilliantly produced records and even more of a love lorned person when good visuals accompany such record. Our top 5 good songs with equally good videos are picked based on the fact that they not help you confront your everyday struggle and the wins that comes with it but also make you dance like you are in an Olamide concert and absolutely no one is watching you. This list is in no particular order. Kiss Daniel/ Mama: This song is amaaazing....this young and obviously calm and humble fellow bought me over to his side with this beautifully written song and even had me swooning all over him with the visual. Perfect gentleman and all. Clean visuals, beautiful story line and just about above average make believe act from the the stars of the video. Funny it is strangely calming and refreshing to a young man like Kiss Daniel, be more involved and right there while playing a committed boyfriend character and of course not needing to show an half clad lady playing with a pillow in his bed before suffering a major accident while trying to hurry back and continue the dump and cliche kinda lover's play. He did a good job in subverting whatever criticism you might have of his performance. Read more: http://tooxclusive.com/editorial/top-5-good-songs-with-equally-good-videos/ |
Artiste – Yemi Alade Album – Mama Africa Features – Psquare, Selebobo, Sarkodie, Rotimi Keys, Sauti Sol, DJ Arafat, Flavour Producers – Selebobo, GospelonDeBeatz, Masterfraft, Rotimi Keys, DJ Arafat, BeatsByEmzo, Mr Chidoo, Philkeyz Label – Effyzzie Running Time – 54 Minutes The reason for her naming her album "Mama Africa", isn't far fetched, it's simply due to her continuous travels all over African countries and maybe her absorbing some sounds from these locations (I stand to be corrected) having said that, we all know what African music is right... it just wants to make us shake our heavily yet delicately endowed behind and am guessing that was what Yemi Alade was going for. Her snicker inducing album title was an obvious nod to self-awareness in making sure her staggering pop career is pushed to the forefront once more. We have seen Yemi star in roles that range from the heartbroken girl, to a 'No Scrubs' lady down to an all loved up lady before finally settling to be the mother of 'em all heart related issues with this new album. Perhaps she decided why go through all 'em issues and remain heartbroken when I can go the cliche way (put all your love into your work) and just thank God while also dancing the pain away. Yemi's intriguing and inoffensive persona, which has been visible in virtually all her songs was no where to be found on this album. The production of the album does nothing for this beautiful artiste who had us dancing to Johnny, Kissing and the rest. The production did nothing to the sassiness and depth we have come to know Yemi Alade to have. The album starts with the popular Nagode, which has been sang in a million other African languages. It suggests a rationale to stringing along other Africans who might be in doubt of how strong she has nurtured her artiste profile to become and why she deserves to be called mama Africa. The beat on this track is mellow, giving us a laid back, thankful yet party kinda feel, which was really just fine until she dived into track 2. Tum Bum, a track I believe was her way of taking us back to our kindergarten days when we rummaged through the sands, playing 'mummy and daddy'. The beat was vapid which one can say is a poor attempt at holding our attention and reminding us that the sexy Yemi Alade is still somewhere in Africa. This track only had me yearning for the musical intelligence displayed on Bez and Praiz' Stupid Song. Yemi Alade, once more made it clear that she is indeed a strong woman and would not be played, so no tum bum tum bum. Tonight featuring P-Square, yes, showed us the hair down and groovy Yemi whom I expected from the beginning of the album. She said it herself, '...it's been a long time since I came out to dance'. Production on this was poor as she sounded like she was trying so hard to keep up with the beat. Lyrics was lazy, not at all expected from this beautiful artiste. P-Square, brought their a-game on this, and in their mighty way, made sure that those of us listening to the track did not fall asleep on the dancing floor. For many centuries, we have heard stories of how the world will one day come to an end. So many tales have gone into painting the perfect description of how the world could really end with some people believing that once the trumpet sounds, everything ends. Irony of it all is, what we all might think would end the world might not even be it. Some countries or people believe the world could end with bigger and known calamities, but we should note that the earth could actually be erased in the twinkle of an eye with lesser known disasters. 188tpyvgcqzdbjpg Asteroid Strike: This is like the major topics in most scientific based Hollywood movies and yes, it is a great concern for most scientist. Yes, things fall from the sky unto the earth everyday, but most of them are quite little to cause a severe impact. Asteroids are space rocks and can very much wipe out the earth in just one strike. An asteroid big enough to wipe out the Earth, scientists have come to agree would need to be at least a mile across—and that kind of impact can only happen maybe once every 10 million years or less. For some time now, the internet has been buzzing with top artistes leaving their record label either by their contract coming to an end or both parties no longer enjoying the working relationship they once shared. Now, most of these labels, without as much as a minute being wasted marched ahead signing new acts to their labels and even dropping singles as a way of ushering them into the music scene/business. I am not saying that their decision to sign these new artistes is wrong, we just feel other artistes listed below will perform better on these platforms. Olamide YBNL: I am among the few who think Lil Kesh should not have left this label when he did, but again am certain Olamide Baddo, and Lil Kesh himself had their reasons. now, a couple of hours ago, Olamide, took to social media to unveil the first ever female act in his label, Temmi Ovwasa, who we have been opportuned to listen to and truth be told, I do not think this songstress belongs to this label. With the YBNL brand, (Street ti take over) am certain a Mz Kiss, Tipsy, Ms. Chief or even Mo'Cheddah in her hay days. 1 (1) 2. Triple MG: With the exit of Miss Emma Nyra from the label, the management decided it was best they add a new female act to who will take on the crown of the first lady , lo and behold, Miss Tonye, was unveiled to a thirsty and already Emma Nyra kinda voice accustomed crowd. First of all, Triple MG should have at least gotten their act together before signing a new act, but I guess, they had their reason....moving on. Now, I have listened to Miss Tonye, and yes, she can sing, but she is no Miss Emma Nyra and I mean, you want to add a new act to a spot left open by a SINGER, then you look for a bigger SINGER to fill the spot, so Miss Tonye is a no no for me on this. Immaculate could have filled does damn glass/gold plated shoes. That girl sings in a way that makes me feel drained and reborn, yes she is that good. M.I 3. Chocolate City: So Brymo left unceremoniously and the label desperate to still guard and own their spot in the Lagos market decided on signing egbon Koker. This is Lagos, Owo lo fin do something o, bettttt Kole Werk' I mean........Brymo...Koker...ah....no please. Brymo's steel fitted shows are indeed huge, in fact too huge to fill, but again, Chocolate City is also a huge deal in the Nigerian music industry, so maybe filling those shoes might be a bit challenging to fill, but we can work with some others who are also highly gifted and would fit in perfectly with the kind of music the label churns out and become even better in no time, so in comes miss Saeon. Saeon, is a beautiful entertainer who has in the past few years creatively and brilliantly laid a solid foundation in the music scene. Common now, am certain am not the only one who has heard 'De be'? Kcee 4. Five Star Music: Some days back, the label signed a rap artiste Xbusta to its home and well after the shamelessly morbid act they pulled in an attempt to sell their artiste to the us stupid softies . For now until am guessing when we all forget and forgive this annoying and embarrassing act by the label to sell their artiste, only then would it be perfect for them to sign a new act. Just let it all blow over. If they must, maybe Viktoh...good artiste in his own right. But...playing with death.....I mean no one gat time for that (In Tamar's voice) Playing with death.....I mean no one gat time for that (In Tamar's voice) Davido 5. HKN: With his fame becoming enormously large and all, our very own papa decided to share some love on some new acts for his label, in comes Mayorkun, whom he signed some weeks back. Yes, perfect act for his label and brand, but then Davido, brought in Dremo, heard his song and all, I give it to him, he is quite good, but Nah ha papi, Dremo, gats no bidness being on your label. Pull a Niniola, or TJan, beautiful music/brand inclined artistes for your label. Written by: Tope Delano @Tope_Delano |
There has been so much hullabaloo on Lil Kesh leaving YBNL by the end of May. Some news site used the word dump others used even more appalling adjectives for this not so big of an issue. Then he dropped the bomb, he is indeed leaving. First, lets understand what a record contract is. This is a legally binding contract between an artiste and the label where the said artistes makes records for the label to promote and sell. Now this contract has both exclusivity and territorial clauses in many, that is to say, such artiste can only record songs for the said label and if need be that another label needs the services of their artistes, this can only happen with the permission of the label. Lil Kesh Having said that, here are four reasons why I feel Lil Kesh should not have left YBNL . Loyalty: Like I said earlier, friendship between label and their artistes is a very delicate one and with this first point, one would easily think this loyalty deals more with Lil Kesh but instead its more on Olamide's part. We all can remember the embarrassing issue which happened at this year's Headies awards, when Lil Kesh, who many believed should have won the next rated award was snubbed. The young man, in a very professional way congratulated the winner and sat down without much visible fuss until his boss took the stage and made the world know just how much he's got his boy's back. Can anyone really forget the in less than minutes trending words Olamide used on the stage? I doubt it. Olamide, a young man himself, not caring whose ass is gored made his disappointment known, resulting in the most talked about social media war of the year 2016. I mean who dares fight with Don Baba J, if not Baddo himself. Yes, his loyalty for his boy was beyond comforting and I must say, I doubt there is any other label who would manifest such legendary and epic loyalty to Lil Kesh. Believe: In his new album, Lil Kesh said it himself, only Olamide believed in his music from the start. Olamide, saw the potential in him and took him up. He made is first single a Hit and did not stop there. Olamide made sure for every single dropped, It was a hit back to back. How many labels can dare say there artiste had hits back to back? Except of cos for one (Story for another day). It is one thing to be signed unto a label who sees that a record or two can be made from you, it is another to have a label who believes in your passion, craft and person in general, and we all know what it means for a dad to believe and even tell his son that he has so much faith and believe in him. Olamide, is the one boss I know will push Lil Kesh to the limit to ensure success. Fountain of creativity: Even as writers we get writers block, so does artistes. Him being among artistes who sing his type of music is an extra point not to leave the label. Creativity being staunched will never happen for this young man should he stick with the right click which is the YBNL group. The influence of Olamide rubs off well on Lil Kesh and with the kind of music they both do, the sky is just the starting point for Mrmeyagi, should he remain with Olamide Baddo. Consistency: Only Olamide will and can push Lil Kesh to drop songs consistently, so why not remain with the man who knows and understands the trade perfectly well. Consistency is the major key to having a wonderful music career and he is sure to get it with YBNL. This are only my thoughts though, am certain both parties thought things through and came to their final decision. Agree and have more reasons why Lil kesh should have remained with YBNL, let us know in the comment box. Written by: Tope Delano @Tope_Delano |
The music industry is known for plagiarism which weirdly has become like an acceptable thing amongst artiste. But, even as acceptable as it has become, a lot of those whose songs are stolen, in a way get little or nothing out of this while some get like a minute or highest 30 minutes fame out of it. Now, this trend is no stranger to even the biggest shot caller in the game as the reigning kings of the music industry tops this list Today, we will be discussing five artistes who copied/stole some one or two of their hit songs/materials from upcoming/top artistes in the industry Now, before we get right into the post, please note that this is in no way a hate post, as I personally love all the artistes on the list. So, if you feel your fingers are itching so much you need to type a rude comment, kindly place them on your severely cracked wall, distorted kitchen sink or any barb wired fence. tuface_idibia_2 Tuface/Blackface/African Queen: This right here was like the epic of all song theft case in the history of the Nigerian music scene. The evergreen song, 'African Queen' powerfully rendered by Tuface became a smashing hit in no time, placing him in the hall of fame for legends in the entertainment industry. African queen not only topped charts, it went global. It became the song, Hollywood practitioners could directly link with Nigeria without as much as scattering their Ed Sheeran locks (Their brand of dread). Seeing how much fame Tuface got from this one song and is still getting, Blackface, one half of Plantashaun boys, Tuface's former boy band group, rose up like Timon and Pumbaa, who are always on the look out for worms, began ranting. He made it clear to everyone who would listen that he owned and wrote the song. Years after, even after the case seemed to have died down with Tuface reportedly paying for the said song, Blackface still stylishly makes reference to it, but can we blame him, its 'African Queen' that's like the song that can change anyone's career assuming you have the same charisma and humility like Tuface. Reports also claims that the song African Queen was actually sung by a Jamaican, Sizzla Kolonji in other words, Tuface stole a stolen song. Davido 2. Davido/Password/Gobe: In 2014, I alongside millions of Nigerians danced to this awesome song from Davido. Gobe, was like the only song even people in the northern part of the country would want to listen to day in day out, yes it was that big. This song brought him unprecedented fame that I dare say catapulted him from an 'Oh its that boy Davido' to 'Na Davido music we want here o' Gobe was so big, Password(Real owner) could no longer shrug off the pain and jealousy that was gingerly hanging up on his shoulder. Password himself had released the same song in 2011, but did nothing for his career before Davido, took over and made it a hit. He reportedly paid N500,000 after copyright claims cropped up. WIZKID (1) 3. Wizkid/Dammy Krane/Babanla: Even before this claim surfaced, Wizkid has for a while been hit with all sort of song theft accusations, which got most people wondering if the 'Pakurumo' crooner, was not smart enough to write himself some hit song. Dammy Krane, an artiste signed unto Tuface's Hypertek records, took to social media to vent. From stealing materials to actually stealing the song Babanla, Wizkid, made our list of artistes who are kings of plagiarism. olamide1 4. Olamide/ D'banj/Don't Stop: Yes, he made the list. Even after D'banj came out claiming the song was given to him, the same D'banj said artistes could come to his place, whatever material they see and like, they are allowed to take. According to D'banj: "I have songs you guys have not heard. I have songs that I’m about to release with producers you guys have asked me to work with. From time, anyone can come into my studio and listen to our songs and not just Olamide can come in. To me, it’s not stealing, I see it as inspiration. ....This particular one, this is a line I have been saying for a long time, “Shake it, don’t break it, it took your mama nine months to make it.” I actually heard it from Prince Aremo Oniru. Even Baddo (Olamide) had played about it saying, “Baba if you no use this line I go use am o” but I said I go use am"....need I say more? Sean-Tizzle 5. Sean Tizzle/Sound Sultan/Sho Lee: Sho Lee shot Sean Tizzle from a singer status to a fast rising singer in no time. The song was a massive hit. It was so massive that it got the attention of the label, Naija Ninjas, Sean Tizzle was signed to before he left abruptly, violating his contract. The case was taken to court before both team decided on amicably settling the issue to avoid unnecessary amount of money being wasted on legal fees. Know some songs that ought to be on the list? Kindly put them in the comment box, to be used for the next article. I remember when Soundcity first started, all the videos played on this music channel was the best of the best, even if the music itself was not all that good. Soundcity in their own unique way I dare say, forced so many artistes into dropping dope videos unlike the 'eyesores' they were used to. Now, till date, most artistes, have stayed on that Soundcity criteria lane and for years kept on warming and massaging our eyes with brilliant music videos to top sometimes the best songs yet and sometimes average songs, but all the same....when a music video is dope, an average song becomes enormously fabulous. Today, we wil be listing five artistes who not once, not twice, but for years have served us their brilliance and overwhelmingly good tastes when it comes to the visuals of their music videos. Yes, once or twice, they might have erred and not lived up to expectations, but they always pick themselves up and show us why they remain visual connoisseurs. Asa - Dead Again [ART]_tooXclusive.com Asa: She is the queen when it comes to dropping music videos which leaves everyone in awe. Asa has in all her might and glory, served hot, mouth watering and awesome videos. She without as much as a tiny strain, made music which leaves an average mind feeling like a 'Steve Jobs' or Einstein',m her videos are no exception as she has broken racial barriers with her brilliance and concept, uniting different races with her iconic style of music and music video. (Watch Jailer, Dead Again, Be My Man, The Way I feel). Asa's music allows her fans connect with her personally, paving an escape route for the minds who need it and her videos enhances this escape experience Banky-W-Made-For-You-video-slider-lead 2. Banky W: Yes, he is an R N B star, who does not fall in the category of those who shoot the cliche woman and man falling out of love and coming back together later on music videos, his videos and songs allow lovers and fans an in dept understanding of whatever message he might be passing and his video, further makes the understanding even more enjoyable. I have for years listened and watched Banky's songs and videos, and truth be told, Sir Banky, as I like to call him is a visual connoisseur. (Watch Mercy, Unborn Child, Strong ting). http://tooxclusive.com/editorial/5-nigerian-artistes-that-put-out-good-music-videos-115473/

The second part of our music royalties starts now.ENJOY!!! brymo Brymo: Do we need much explaining to do here (See Down) You hear this young man's voice and all you can do at that moment is place your hands on your head and wonder how someone this Petite can have such great and powerful voice? Making his epic debut in Oleku, Brymo went from 'Ara ,Good morning, Down' to let us know we have yet another beautiful male singer in our midst. Brymo, is the definition of a 'SINGER. Known for his ever calming raspy vocal placements on the difficult of songs (Based on pitch mostly) Brymo, can only be known as Royalty (Am sorry no other word coming to mind now). I listen to Brymo, am like......'Hey John Legend, Nigerian much" Yaysssssss, dept, timbre, tone, resonance, perfection!!!!! asa-the-one-that-never-com-720x340-720x340 2. Asa: Fearless and easily even if a bit difficult to make a mark and stay put in the Nigerian music industry. Not even a resident in the country, this beautiful artiste, has beyond doubt proved that she is a royalty. She slowly yet magnificently entered our hearts and souls with her beautiful, songs and uncommon vocals and with little or no effort, built a Badagry/upper east side inspired mansion in our lives. 'Fire on the mountain, Jailer, Eye Adaba....' list is endless to enable me easily describe this powerful singer. Cobhams-3 3. Cobhams: You see and hear him( from the first note) you immediately feel the tranquility that comes from his emotionally pure yet melodic voice. Visually impaired vocal powerhouse/royalty Cobhams, is just another reason not to loose faith in still being able to get good music from the Nigerian music scene. I hear Cobhams, immediately know am going to be covered in goose bumps before the end of his song. Now lets place our attention on his production skills, am certain, most of you know that there is no debate about this, he is man who knows just what he is doing. His dexterity in bringing out the best sounds in music is still beyond me.es, he is that good.Meaningful songs,'glorious vocal deliverer', marvelous artiste all in all, Music DANG Royalty!!!! Guys, Let me know some others you feel MUST make this list!! Written by: Tope Delano http://tooxclusive.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=115157&action=edit

I dont normally do this, but i will today..@drakeskull....i would not know what your experience has been so far with shippyme, but i can authoritatively say Shippyme is still the best Logistics firm in the Country. Yes, they might have their flaws and all, but take my word they deliver. I have used Shippyme quite a few times and yes, sometimes they are slow and they apologize for this, but for my last two bookings, i got my packages on time and i splendid shape. Customer service is wonderful, as i recall vividly, their agent helped me through all the stages when i had difficulties and made sure i got my items delivered when due, even with all the mails and calls i put across then which i must confess were not too good, but in all honesty, she handled extremely well and professionally. I will and have recommended Shippyme to several people and they have also given good testimonies. |
