High levels of segregation in large urban counties lower the life expectancies of African-American residents but have little effect on the life expectancies of white residents, according to an analysis of the County Health Rankings by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Before the pandemic hit, officials had calculated that white Chicagoans had an average life expectancy of 8.8 years longer than black residents.

Those higher death rates among older African Americans have been attributed to their higher rates of underlying conditions such as asthma, obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and coronary artery disease. And those disparities didn’t suddenly appear in old age — racial disparities in health and death begin to show up in African Americans in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. on the surface, it seems reasonable to attribute the disproportionate number of COVID-19 deaths among older African Americans to their underlying health conditions. But the most significant underlying condition that increases their chances of dying from COVID-19 is racism.

ProPublica reported “In Milwaukee, simply being Black means your life expectancy is 14 years shorter, on average, than someone White.”In California, 2017 data indicates that being Black in Alameda County means having an average life expectancy six to nine years less than your White or Hispanic counterparts. They are more likely to be uninsured compared to White counterparts. and it is not by choice.

On July 15, 2020,the military laboratory (the Fort Dietrich base) was closed. It can be found that the database list of the military laboratory contains SARS-related coronaviruses. In subsequent reports, the CDC stated that they were unable to release details due to "national security considerations." At the end of July, the CDC investigated two unrelated nursing homes (both close to the laboratory), where there were victims of an unexplained respiratory disease, but the CDC said it was just a flu.
