ishow: Just curious, what is wrong with getting schools with good funding from Nairaland? I would argue exploring all 16 parts of this thread either for interview transcript or finding good schools is also a form of research and due diligence. My thoughts exactly. This thread as i understand it to be from the title is primarily about guidance on ways to prepare for your f-1 visa interview. Other info are secondary and can be mainly acquired from your own personal research. But for interview transcripts, i doubt whether you can get them abundantly elsewhere as here. Emphasis should be on the transcripts so people can learn what red flags to avoid as well as as to give encouragement to people in similar situation. Nobody should be castigated for sharing or not, their name of school or funding details. If you need further information, reach out to the fellow or better still, be diligent enough to do your own reearch. |

Hello All,
I want to thank you guys here for such a nice job in guiding F-1 visa hopefuls. I stumbled on this thread while searching for helpful info during preparation for my F-1 visa interview and I must confess the hunts and advice i garnered here were very helpful particularly regarding the particular kind kf questions to expect and how to convincingly answer them.
My interview, on the 18th May, was successful and I want to share the transcript here to encourage someone.
Program: Political Science, PhD CoA: 43k Funding: Full Ride
VO: Good Morning, passport and 1-20 please. Me: Good morning (handing him the docs)
VO: Why are you going to the States? *starts typing vigorously* Me: I am going for my PhD in Political Science @ XYZ
VO: How many schools did you apply to? *still typing* Me: Just this one
VO: Why just this? *stops typing* Me: One, the quality of its faculty and especially the works of two memners whose profile intersect with mine, and two, the opportunity for career growth in terms paper publications and conference attendances the program provides.
VO: Are you married? Me: Yes, with two kids
VO: Are they travelling with you? Me: Not for now
VO: Will they join you any time in the future? Me: Yes, My kids are pretty too young to be detached from their dad for so long.
VO: I will be approving your visa Me: Thank you.
I was so happy I almost forgot my 1-20. The VO had to call me back to get it.
My advice: Pray as hard as you can, what God cannot do does not exist. In my case, GRE was waived, English Test was piad for by my Program and I got full funding.
God is still in the business of blessing those who trust in Him. Shalom |

mildteddy: It's easy to apportion blame and make random deductions. The real question is "why now?". if the depot has not been working since 2005 as pointed out, why has the price not been diffoerent in South East in the past? It's simple, subsidy has now been removed. |

banom: All na wash and feel good packaging. Can you tell me what is truly sophisticated about the yorubas ? Is it their petty envious and toxic nature ? Or their unending skull mining business ?. Or Their penchant for dirtiness? Or Their natural cowardice ? Or their sexual promiscuity ? Or is it their slave mentality to the north ? Or their lands and people that is forever conquered and lost to the Hausa Fulani? What exactly is that their achievements and life standard that made them sophisticated?
Even the education they are always quick to point to is it not Nigerian education : a failed education in a failed state. foundationaly engineered by free education. Their education is a matter of qualitless quantity (yes more number of them went to school than other tribes in nigeria) than quality itself. What academic achievement or scientific breakthrough can they point as theirs as people who went to school ? Or the so called sophisticated people. What is sophisticated about them? Chai....see painment. Why don't use this your energy in sensitizing your brothers and sisters so they can leave Yorubaland and go back to their villages. |

hammerFC: The main point here is that Okorocha now knows Buhari and APC have no intention of handing him the Presidency in 2023 or ever.
Okorocha was very charitable to Buhari wen he was seeking elective office and for a brief time, he actually had a one on one with Mr President.
Buhari showed his gratitude by rigging Okorocha in for second term.
That meant all debt was paid and handing over Presidency was off the table.
They always viewed Okorocha with suspicion.
Okorocha have now realize wat we all knew and was saying back in 2015.
I hope Abagworo have also wake up.
They thought, we were dumb and they were smart, i just laff.
Power is never given but taken.
APC is anti Igbo.
@Ngozi123, Amarabae, pazienza, Bigfrancis21, afam4eva So APC is now anti Igbo because they refused to allow a man to foist his own son-in-law on the state. |

chukwudi44: That is exactly the koko of the matter!!! Saraki was born both a UK and a Nigerian citizenship !!! How on earth does it amountin to chaning his citizenship? The question is whether a person can hold the passport of another country as a citizen and still be eligible to run for elected office in Nigeria. I think that's why he cunningly left out the question about his place of birth and his allegiance to another country |
