PoliticsAmosun Is Obasanjo's Stooge - Osoba by Mayour11(op): 9:44am On Jan 28, 2015
Ogun State former Governor, Segun Osoba, on
Tuesday said the incumbent Governor,
Ibikunle Amosun, is a stooge of former
President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Mr. Osoba who is also a national leader of the
Social Democratic Party, SDP, spoke at a
meeting with a cross section of traditional
chiefs, Baales and Olorituns in Ago-Iwoye,
Ijebu North Local Government Area of the
state.
He said most supporters of Mr. Amosun are
loyalists of the ex-president.
Speaking at the inauguration of some projects
initiated by Gbenga Kaka, the Senator
representing Ogun East, Mr. Osoba alleged
that Mr. Amosun is a sectional governor, who
concentrated his projects in Abeokuta and its
environs to the detriment of other towns in
the state.
The two time ex-governor also decried the
“injustice” allegedly meted out to the Deputy
Governor of the State, Segun Adesegun, by the
Governor.
He pointed out that the shabby treatment of
the deputy governor was a slap to the people
of Ijebuland, which he said Mr. Adesegun
represented.
“We gave Adesegun as Amosun’s deputy
because of his experience as commissioner for
works. We had expected that the governor
would tap from Adesegun’s wealth of
experience in governance but the governor
chose otherwise and started constructing
bridges where there is no water.
“Amosun really dealt with Adesegun; he
maltreated him. Ijebu people should not see
the insult meted out to Adesegun as that of
Adesegun alone. They should see it as a
collective insult. Therefore, it is time for Ijebu
people to fight back with their votes. I’m
begging you to stop the maltreatment of the
Ijebus with your votes.
“It is time to defend yourselves. This is not
1999 election when you voted for your
kinsman, Jubril Martins-Kuye, against me.
You must show Amosun with your votes come
February 28, 2015. All of you must come out
en masse and pay Amosun back,” Mr. Osoba
said.
Mr. Osoba also accused the ruling All
Progressives Congress, APC, of planning to mop
up Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, ahead of the
elections, urging the voters to beware and
resist any form of inducement.
The projects initiator, Mr. Kaka, who named
one of the projects after Mr. Osoba, said the
gesture was in recognition of the ex-
governor’s contributions to the state.
He appealed to the people to vote in SDP in
the February general elections, stressing that
it remained the only progressive party in the
country.

PoliticsRe: Yorubas Will Not Vote For buhari, We Don't Trust Fulanis- Gani Adams by Mayour11(op): 9:23am On Jan 28, 2015
Everyone has his/her choice to make, Yoruba people can not be predicted. We are unpredictable.
PoliticsYorubas Will Not Vote For buhari, We Don't Trust Fulanis- Gani Adams by Mayour11(op):
Factional leader of the Yoruba group, Oodua
People’s Congress (OPC), Ganiyu Adams, has
informed the presidential candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) not to expect getting
a bloc vote from the South-west in the
February 14 presidential election. He said a
good number of his people are yet to get over
their reservations with the Fulani.
Adams told Nigeria Today that he does not
agree with projections made by some pundits
that Buhari will make a clean sweep of South-
west by virtue of the dominance of his party in
the geo-political zone, saying, “South-west is a
place that you cannot use the media to deceive.
We are highly exposed and highly educated.”
His words, “For you to say we should go one
way, it is impossible. I don’t think that the
South-west will vote for Buhari en mass. Don’t
forget the pain caused by the June 12
annulment, it is still fresh in the mind of our
people many died in the cause of June 12
struggle, many lost a lot of properties. I don’t
think our people will trust a Hausa/Fulani man
from the north this time around.”
Adams’ stance aligns with that of the leader of
another faction of OPC and founder of the Unity
Party of Nigeria (UPN), Frederick Faseun, who
has already thrown his weight behind
Jonathan, with his party adopting the President
as its candidate.
Meanwhile, Adams was quick to point out that
Jonathan alone should not be blamed for the
nation’s failing. He insisted that governors and
lawmakers should equally share in the
blame

EducationOgun Teachers Suspend Strike by Mayour11(op): 9:08pm On Jan 27, 2015
Teachers in Ogun State have suspended the
3 week old strike embarked upon to press
home their demand for the payment of a
27.5% peculiar allowance.
This followed the signing of an agreement
today between executive of the Nigeria
Union of Teachers (NUT) led by its State
Chairman, Comrade Dare Ilekoya and the
State Government side headed by the Head
of Service, Mrs. Modupe Adekunle. The
government after considering the plea by
representatives of the NUT agreed to pay
15% of the basic salaries of teachers as
peculiar allowance with effect from the
beginning of next month with an assurance
that all other demands would be attended
to in due course.
The agreement also added that no teacher
would be victimized for whatever role
played while the strike lasted. Speaking
after signing the agreement, the Chairman
NUT, Comrade Ile koya appreciated
Governor Ibikunle Amosun for considering
the 1st of July effective date and the
promise for further negotiation as the
finance of the State improves.
He promised teachers’ continued support
towards improving the education sector,
calling on all teachers in both primary and
secondary schools in the State to resume
work immediately.
“We have seen that truly the finances of
the State for now cannot go beyond the
payment of 15%, we have to be considerate
and then suspend the strike for peace to
reign in the education sector, and on that
note we want to implore our teachers in
both primary and secondary schools to
resume work immediately” Ilekoya
directed.
Also in her reaction, the Head of Service,
Mrs. Adekunle lauded union leaders for
their understanding and cooperation in
resolving the issues, affirming that the
outstanding promotion among other issues
raised were already being attended to.

The simple truth is that there is no way you can show that you have been educated up to school certificate level without a certificate.
It is that simple, no amount of logic can turn it around.
A certificate without worth is even useless in this nation today, if you go to school and you cannot pass the major subjects, it's like wasting of your time.
PoliticsRe: How APC Screened Buhari And Educational Qualification For Presidential Contest by Mayour11(op): 7:09am On Jan 04, 2015
Collynzo9:
What a shameful analogy.
Anyway if you attended to secondary school up to the final day but missed the final exams because you were expelled or whatever, you have nothing to show for your effort until you take that exam and get the certificate.
For someone who just wants to learn how to read and write for his own personal uses, he might not bother taking the exam, but someone who hopes to be employed where the certificate must be presented as evidence, he has no choice but to get that certificate.
Buhari falls into the second category.
He should have take last year's SSCE.
I wonder o, the man is a comedian. Let's be practical, assuming he has a school, and I come to him that I want to be teaching in his school, that i have the minimum requirement to be a teacher, but I cannot present it, because it is with my previous employer. Can he accept me with that analogy. When I have nothing to show for it

Yes, it's true but they are saying that they want him to present it. With reference to General Buhari having
regard to his unimpeachable military training,
an irrefutable presumption was properly made
by the APC screening Committee that he met
the education qualification set by the
Constitution. Those who contest this or who
intend to contest that he met the education
qualification of section 131(d) have the
burden to disprove the irrefutable
presumption not General Buhari.

PoliticsRe: How APC Screened Buhari And Educational Qualification For Presidential Contest by Mayour11(op): 6:24am On Jan 04, 2015
In my view A has not only been educated up
to at least School Certificate level he would
also be deemed to have been educated to its
equivalent. This position finds support in
section 131(d) which neither prescribed a
pass which is required for certification nor a
fail which denies it. The interest of the
Constitution is with the level of the education
of the candidate howsoever acquired, not the
certificate he aquires ipso facto.
The APC screening Committee was made up
of several eminent highly educated and
enlightened men and one Woman. They came
to the conclusion after putting APC
presidential aspirants through a most
rigorous test that all the APC aspirants met
the constitutional qualifications including
education qualification to contest for election
to the office of President. They confirm this
by awarding them a certificate. The
qualification set by the Constitution for
contest is the level of education not its
certificate. While a certificate may irrevocably
prove that the education qualification has
been met, it could in the same manner prove
rebut ably only that it has been met. Where
for example a Certificate has been purchased
for example in "oluwole" as it has happened
in several instances, a candidate though in
possession of a certificate cannot be said to
have met the education qualification of the
Constitution because he has not been
educated not to talk of up to school
certificate level.
PoliticsRe: How APC Screened Buhari And Educational Qualification For Presidential Contest by Mayour11(op): 6:23am On Jan 04, 2015
Still the question remains, has General Buhari
without presenting especially his school
certificate or its equivalent met the education
precondition set for Presidential Candidates
in the Constitution?
To begin with, the Constitution does not
prescribe the presentation or show of any
Certificate to qualify for election to the office
of President. Under section 131(d) of our
Military Constitution, a person shall be
qualified for election to the office of President
if "he has been educated up to at least
School Certificate level or its equivalent."
While a Certificate may unequivocably show
that a contestant has been educated up to at
least School Certificate level, his education
without a Certificate may show, again
unequivocably that he has been educated up
to the equivalent of School Certificate level.
For example, assuming A is the best all A
student in Ajuwa Grammar School, Okeagbe,
Akoko. Now on the very day before the
commencement of the West African School
Certificate, he sexually harrassed the
daughter of the English teacher as a result of
which he was dismissed, will A be said not to
have met the education qualification of
section 131(d) of the Constitution?
PoliticsHow APC Screened Buhari And Educational Qualification For Presidential Contest by Mayour11(op): 6:22am On Jan 04, 2015
In view of so much interest shown in the
non-presentation of the Certificates of
Buhari, APC Presidential candidate to
INEC, much interest has been shown in
determining whether he has met the
Constitution's education qualification. As a
member of the APC screening Committee, i
can affirm unequivocally that Gen. Buhari met
the education qualification prescribed by the
constitution.
General M. Buhari joined the Nigerian Army
in 1962, attended military training before
proceeding to Officers Cadets Training at
Mons Officer Cadet School, Aldershot, UK. In
1963 he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant
and appointed Platoon Commander 2nd
Infantry Battalion, Abeokuta. During this
same period he attended the Platoon
Commander's Course at the Nigerian Military
College, Kaduna.He later also attended
Mechanical Transport Officers Course at the
Army Mechanical Transport School,Borden,
UK. General Buhari attended the Defence
Services Staff College, Wellington, India in
1973 and from 1979 to 1980 as a Colonel, he
attended the U.S. Army War College in
Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
