NYSC is truly a tool for fostering national unity, but the worst part of it is the fact that the Nigerian government no longer hold the scheme in high esteem. The lives of the corp members is no longer safe owing to the various security threats in the nation. There is need for evaluation of NYSC.

TravelNigerians In The UK Are Asked To Bring £30 For BVN by Mayour11(op): 2:02pm On Jul 15, 2015
Just got this information and think I should
share for verification ....
Money the root of all evil
Na wa o. Nobody pays for BVN in Nigeria. Yet
Nigerians in the UK are asked to bring £30 for
BVN to fill a small form which takes less than
5 minutes. Na wa o. Some people try to make
money from anything.
The address to go to for this exercise is No.
56 to 57, Fleet street, London. This is an
address belonging to the Nigerian High
Commission in London, our Country's fully
funded mission in the UK.
Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrollment is
a Federal government/Central Bank initiative
available to all Nigerians to register freely to
help the CBN administer banking more
securely. Despite this being a public service
matter, Nigerians still attempt to exploit and
take advantage of other Nigerians in their
vulnerable state. Is it because it will cost
money and time to travel to Nigeria to do it?
The Nigerian BVN enrollment exercise in the
UK is being done through a private UK
Company. The question is, why should the
Banker to the Federal Government of Nigeria
(the CBN) with all resources available to it
(human, financial and technology) contract a
third party Company to do a task freely
performed by banks in Nigeria?
A good number of Nigerian Banks have
branches in the UK who can more efficiently
provide the same service for nothing as they
do in Nigeria or at worst at a nominal fee. In
Nigeria, one can go to any Bank to enrol for
BVN for free and not necesssarily your own
bank.
Not so in the UK, since millions of Nigerians
from all over the UK have to go to one office
in Fleet street, London. A recipe not only for
exploitation but also for choas quite
characteristic of how we do things since we
only look at the money angle at the greatest
inconvenience and to the economic detriment
of the same people we claim to serve.
Must we monetise everything and make life
more difficult for so-called brethren we
pretend to love each Friday and Sunday?
Does it mean when Nigerians in the UK
eventually get the right to vote in Nigerian
elections, this will also be privatised and
Nigerians in the UK and elsewhere abroad will
also be told to pay for it? Would that not be
ridiculous? This is no different.
When do we stop worshiping this money and
really face the God that we profess each
Friday and Sunday to love? Can we love HIM
when we cannot treat ourselves justly even
when we have the opportunity to do so. Na wa
o. Baba dey sidon look us.
If this makes any sense, kindly share until it
gets to those in government, the permanent
secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the High
Commissioner in London and to proponents of
change in Aso Rock.
BVN is free.
Teacher no teach-ee me nonsense.
I. Shitta-Bey

What will be my excuse?
There are more than one thousand and one excuses. You may decide to talk about it with someone who will disguise as a family member, who will call you and lambast you on the fact that you have started moving with bad friends. The person will then go further to say that you have also harboured them in ur house, and he should threaten you that he'll report to your parents if you don't send him out. Make sure he's at home when the person will call o.

Owing to the security situation of Nigeria, living in this nation is like being sentenced to death by hanging. You won't know when your death warrant will be signed, it comes unaware.

Health85,000 Endangered Antelopes Die Mysteriously In Just One Day by Mayour11(op): 8:24am On May 27, 2015
They look like something drawn
by Dr Seuss, but saiga antelopes
are a real thing. Unfortunately, we
can't be sure if they will be a thing
for much longer, because at the
current rate they could be extinct
within a few weeks, at least in the
wild.
Saiga antelopes are not
particularly rare for a large
mammal, with well over 100,000
surviving. However, they have
been classified as endangered
since hunting slashed their
numbers by at least three quarters
in the 1990s, after the breakup of
the Soviet Union weakened
poaching controls. In the past few
weeks an estimated 85,000 have
died, and that figure, released on
Friday , may already be out of date.
Worse still, no one knows why.
In 2014, a study by the
government of Kazakstahn
reported just over a quarter of a
million saiga in the country. A
smaller number live in Russia and
Mongolia, which so far have not
been reported to have
been affected in the same way.
A fortnight ago, reports appeared
of dead saiga being found . Since
then, the number of deaths
has risen terrifyingly quickly, from
hundreds, to thousands, to now
tens of thousands . Less Dr Seuss
and more horror movie.
A bacterial infection
called pasteurellosis is considered
to be the most likely cause, but
experts in animal disease are
flying in to investigate further. The
Kazak ministry of agriculture says
that large die-offs have happened
before, but the loss of a third of a
population in such a short time is
almost unprecedented, not just for
saiga, but for any long-lived
species. It is unclear why a
disease that was already
widespread among saigas, and
usually only killed those weakened
by lack of food or other diseases,
should turn lethal so quickly.
“It’s shaping up to be a complete
catastrophe,” EJ Milner-Gulland,
head of the Saiga Conservation
Alliance told the Guardian. She
added, “I’m afraid the animals are
still dying and we are not actually
getting a final number yet. I’m
expecting that number to go up
quite substantially in the coming
days.”
The saiga have rebounded from
population crashes before, having
dropped as low as 21,000 after
poaching peaked in 2003.
Population crashes reduce genetic
diversity, potentially making
species more vulnerable to new
diseases or mutated versions of
old ones. On the other hand, the
saiga's residence in regions prone
to bitter winters and severe
droughts has created a capacity to
breed quickly when good times
come along.
